Sending You a Prickly Hug

Welcome to this week's Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #187Join us in this week’s challenge combining the colors White Daisy and any or 1, 2, 3, 4 or ALL Five of the following greens (Cotton Candy, Sweet Leaf, Topiary, Glacier and White Daisy.) You have until Thursday, April 7, 2016 to create and link up your project...look forward to seeing your inspirations for this color challenge.

It wasn't too difficult for me to choose my theme for colors of Green...in Arizona the cacti are an assortment of greens.  However, in the spring/summer and sometimes fall seasons these green cacti break out with beautiful colored flowers.

All cacti stamped, fussy-cut, rolled edges, and adhered with 3D Foam Tape inside of die-cut window frame from a variety of cardstock. Design Paper placed in the background of the window.  The cactus outside the window and sentiment stamped on white cardstock, fussy-cut and adhered with 3D Foam Tape.

Photos taken today:  The flower outside the window was stamped and masked for other stems of the same plant.  In this first photo (double-click for a larger photo), circled are the many green buds that will bloom. Not simultaneously but throughout the season.  The second photo is the yellow flower this cactus produces (not fully open).  The needles on this plant are the white buds in the background which appear to be soft; however, if rubbed against they have hundreds of needles in each bud that will pierce you and they are not easily removed.

This plant is a succulent, and is grown in other sections of the U.S.

Other CACTI

When I lived back East we had a small waterfall and fish pond...home to a variety of Koi. Due to the extreme heat in Arizona this was not a possibility; but I had seen in a magazine where you could use cacti to create an under-the-water scene.  This is a photo of a section of my cacti fish pond.
