Double Trouble Challenge #148 "Any Way you Punch It" (Sept 18)

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble Challenge #148 "Any Way You Punch It" and partnering with I Spy With My Little Eye "Farm Animal".  I knew my die cut would be a frame; but didn't know where this was going until I looked through my stash for Twisted Sister's optional twist to include a farm animal in celebration of Chicken or Cat Month.

Wow, in my stash I found a stacked Chickens' image... had no idea where it came from until investigating on the internet it was a Stampin' Up "Hey Chick" stamp set. In our Little Crop Group there were two Stampin' Up enthusiasts. The images were so cute I had to stamp them in a stack for future use. It has to be at least four years, or more, sitting in my stash waiting to be used for Twisted Sister's optional twist to include a farm animal in celebration of Chicken Month. And this image was perfect for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #543 (using a Slimline instead of A2 for the length of the image) and choice of colors from the Color Dare's Color Board #565

My background is a floral pattern from the Melon Maniac paperpack, bordered with Avacado cardstock and adhered to card base. The two stitched / scalloped rectangle die cuts were patterned papers from Mix-In packets (a Lemonade Checker and an Avacado dotted pattern) and adhered to the background as in sketch. Next I fussy-cut the stacked chickens, colored with Copic Sketch pens closest to melon, lemonade and avacado and then adhered to the Avacado scalloped die cut with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.  Cut each sentiment and bordered with Avacado cardstock and adhered directly to the background cuts.

On the inside some of the extra cut scalloped die cuts, in each color, were glued on the r-h border and across the bottom.  As I was coloring and working with the layout I had a smile on my face for the great discovery in my stash and how everything was going together with the other two challenges... I'm pleased with my card, hope this brings a smile to your face as well.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble and I Spy With My Little Eye to check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

And don't forget to check out the other challenges, you may be able to use them as well.

It's Your Day - Color Dare Challenge #566 "Triple Play"

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare Challenge #566 "Triple Play" combining with Sketch Saturday Challenge #734, flipped to portrait. My daughter and I were zooming and I was making this card for celebrating her birthday.  I forgot to do a photo of the card so my daughter took one for me.

Stamped images using Memento "Black" Ink, cut using thin cuts and colored with Copic Sketch brushes (alcohol-base)... created the plaid on the gnome with the three colors closest to the Color Board.  Used the same colors for the balloons and gnome sitting on the cupcake and applied a dark chocolate icing with some Sundance sprinkles.

I had just finished coloring and someone was at my front door... and much to my surprise it was my youngest son, his wife and kids visiting from back East. So needless to say our Zoom ended, my card making was at a stand still until they all went out to the pool. My daughter and her husband were expected over for dinner to celebrate so I quickly put together my card so I too could hop in the pool.

Decided to use the three colors for the Cut background panels as shown in sketch, using two patterned papers (Sundance and Desert Rose Mix-Ins) bordered with Rosemary cardstock, and cut the banner from Rosemary cardstock. Adhered the larger gnome with balloons direct to background, and used 3-D thin foam tape for the cupcake.  I'm off to the pool.

I forgot to take a photo of her card before she went home so the next day asked her to photo one for me... she did and it wasn't until then I noticed I had neglected to put something in place of the little arrows in the sketch... but I talked myself into the strings from the balloon worked and the little gnome on top of the cupcake was sitting in front of the little arrows.  Sentiment stamped on the Sundance patterned paper.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #564 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Santa Fuel - Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge using BYSHC Sketch

Since the theme for a Christmas card was "Candy or Cookies" the Freshly Baked paperpack from CTMH came to mind immediately for it's variety of papers and stickers for this theme.  The cake rack sticker with cookies was perfect for the square panel in the sketch and with the Scarlet cardstock added gave it shadow and dimenson. Cut one of the cookie stickers and adhered to the cookie rack with 3-D thin foam tape.

I die cut a couple fancy circles using both Scarlet and White Daisy cardstock without knowing what the content would be.  I wasn't sure whether Santa liked Coffee so I filled a small cup with Hot Cocoa and labled it as his fuel, or maybe the cookies were his fuel.  Anyway I'm sure he likes both.  And if he doesn't, there is milk in the background paper.  The little stamp of Santa was just a cute extra to let Santa know this card was special for him.

These two challenges are a monthly challenge; but please hop on over to both challenges for inspiration... hope to see you there.

Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge will randomly draw one lucky winner to receive a Sweet Holiday Wishes Digi Pack from Laurel Seabrook Designs.  And BYSHC also has a random drawing and the Winner will receive a fun package of Christmas crafty goodies!! I was the random winner for last month and awaiting my fun package... excited and can't wait.

DTC Challenge #147 "Oh My Gourd" Color Challenge with Inspiration Station

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #147 "Oh My Gourd" color challenging at least 3 colors (Yellow, Purple, Orange, Red or Green) and my choice of colors matched up with ColorMyHeart Color Dare #563 "TicTacToe" using Left Diagonal (Apple Red, Toffee, Green Apple + Sundance). We are partnering with Inspiration Station #53 and were inspired with the colors.  Twisted Sister's optional twist is to include a pumpkin on your project and Double Dare's dare to share with Inspiration Station #53 (include how photo inspired you) and earn additional chances at Double Trouble's random draw.

Stamped with black ink on white cardstock (Bushel Basket, Apples, Pumpkin and Leaf), colored with Copic brush pens, fussy cut, adhered with 3D thin foam to the scalloped circle for dimension and added another scalloped circle using Candy Apple cardstock.

Chose a Sundance color patterned paper for the background and three strips of patterned papers adhered to the background as shown in sketch.  Sentiment was stamped in black on white cardstock and bordered with red and adhered to background in lower left hand corner.  On the inside corner of the card base stamped a couple apples and some flourish in black ink.

Friendship - Color Dare Challenge #564 - Six Pack

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare Challenge #564 "Six Pack". While going through my stash there was an cute image of a House Mouse with a Fall leaf.  This caught my attention because there were four colors in the Color Board that could be used in the leaf, plus could die cut a tag around mouse image to use in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #540

So I started with a blended background using inks closest to the colors Grape, Nectarine, Green Apple and Raspberry... then using black ink stamped several leaves randomly on the blended background.  Cut the background in three sizes approximated as shown in sketch and adhered them leaving spacing for the black line between each cut.

The die-cut tag was narrower than the image so fussy cut the one side around a part of the leaf and a part of the mouse on the end of tag and layered a black border around the tag for shadow leaving the fussy-cut hanging over the edge.

The same ink colors were used on the leaf for a closer match to the background and applied with a paint brush; however, Copic Sketch Brush Pens were used on the House Mouse. To soften the white tag... watered down a little of the tangerine ink and swiped with a paint brush around the image.  Instead of the bow embellishment in the sketch... stamped two smaller leaves, colored with paint brush strokes and added a sequin in the middle.  The tab was then adhered to the background using 3D thin foam tape for some dimension.

Found this cute sentiment in my stash, cut to size, bordered with black cardstock and adhered to bottom r-h corner.  The inside was bordered with two of the cuts from my blended background

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #564 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Wish Big - DTC Challenge #146 "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #146 "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" (aka AG) with Twisted Sister's optional twist using one or more or combination of:  A. Food/Beverage, B. Checkered pattern, C. Insect.

Double Dare offers additional chances when you combine your card with our other previous partners and my choices were ColorMyHeart Color Dare #563 "TicTacToe" and Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #540.

Twisted Sister's optional twist A. Food and/or Beverage... a hamburger die cut using a variety of cardstock colors. Also die cut a tag layered with Sapphire and adhered the hamburger using 3D thin foam tape for dimension. Die cut a bow and placed in hole of tag.

My background papers were inspired with the colors of Labor Day (red, white and blue) and Twisted Sister's optional twist B. Checkers was one of the designs with the other two stars and stripes.  Thought Wish Big was a good sentiment for this Big hamburger and stamped on bottom r-h corner with Sapphire Ink.

Optional Twist C. Insect... my thought was not to use an insect because I didn't want to spoil the deliciousness of the hamburger. But I found this adorable teeny weeny ant stamp and what is a picnic without an ant and better than annoying flies and bees.  So... a couple ants were stamped on the checkered tablecloth where they could be brushed off before they got to the hamburger.

Ants favorite human food is sugar, so I distracted them from the hamburger and guided them to the inside of my card with a piece of watermelon, another favorite food for a picnic, and the ants happily enjoyed the picnic too.

Sending You Love Sweet Friend - Color Dare #562 - One, Two, Three

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #562 selecting two colors (Whimsical and Pink) using the Try Stampin' on Tuesday's Sketch Challenge #619.

Just acquired this cute Bunny stamp set which I was anxious to use.  For a better fit of my images decided to rotate sketch to portrait.  Stamped main image in black ink on white cardstock, colored with copic pens, partially cut the rectangle leaving one side with  bunnies off the edge and bordered with Mulberry cardstock.  The background paper was perfect for my colors, and the background and other cut panels were bordered with same cardstock.

The bunny lifted in the air by balloon was stamped, colored, fussy-cut and placed on card so the balloon was the circle embellishment in the sketch.  Sentiment was stamped on white cardstock bordered with Mulberry cardstock and adhered on top left-hand side of background.  On the inside corner simply stamped in black the same bunny.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #550 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Hello Double Trouble #145 "Scrapper's Gorp" with TSOT

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #145 "Scrapper's GORP" using Twisted Sister's optional twist to create a card using Try Stampin' on Tuesday's Sketch challenge #620.  Choosing a Scarecrow stamp set was perfect for piecing my GORP and CTMH paperpack "Cozy Up" was ColorMyHeart Color Dare TicTacToe Board #561 with a good selection of colors and patterned papers.

The Scarecrow was first stamped on White Daisy cardstock for layering the different patterns of design papers.  Several of the design papers were stamped with the Scarecrow stamp and then fussy cut the different pieces of clothing for layering with 3D thin foam tape.  I probably spent more time on deciding the combination of where the pieces were being placed.  Additionally the paperpack did not include a small floral so had to go through my stash to find a small floral with colors that matched the board... I was successful.

The face and hair were colored with Copic pens and I tried to make the face look like burlap by using brown, honey butter and Shortbread and then lightening with colorless blender.  I needed to get some green in the image to complete a row or column, so the straw was colored with a light green (either Sage and/or Rosemary) which then completed either Row 1 or Col 3. Pieces were placed with 3d thin foam tape for dimension and set aside until the background was completed.

I also chose to use the patterned papers for more GORP... the background with a plaid, a checker and a polka-dot all bordered with Honey Butter.  A circle sentiment was cut from Mocha and adhered to the smaller panel, with another sentiment stamped in the bottom right-hand corner.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble.  Check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Also, stop on by at Try Stampin' on Tuesday to see how their Design Team has incoporated our challenge with their Sketch and have been inspired with how some used our "Scrapper's GORP" in their projects.

Celebrate Your Day - Color Dare #560 "Fancy Five"

Here is my Design Team Card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge #560 "Fancy Five"Remember, back a couple weeks ago I created a second background using the same technique from an Instagram reel by #Melissascraftingtreehouse).

This challenge contains the same colors (Melon, Sundance, Sage) so the left overs of the combination of my Mix-In patterned paper cuts were used for this card too. However the background did not have any Melon patterned paper so added a thin border of Melon to the background and a second cut of a melon tag which was offset to the top and right side and stamped the same sentiment on the white tag.

My theme was a birthday card using a chick with a balloon.  Stamped chick directly on the background and adhered sentiment tag just over the right-side of the stamped chick leaving his legs exposed and prepare for piecing.  Stamped same chick on Sundance cardstock, fussy cut chick with flowers and adhered over the background stamped  image. Stamped flower portion of Chick on white cardstock, colored and adhered over flowers on chick.  Stamped the Balloon portion on the melon patterned paper, fussy-cut and pieced on background stamped chick.

Click HERE to see my card using same background technique and colors from a previous Color Dare challenge.

Inside of card:  Used some of the additional scraps used in background for a corner embellishment and a left-over flower from previous card.

Please stop by and have some fun with Color Dare #560 "Fancy Five" Color Board  and check out what our Team Members and Entrants have created.  Hope to see you there.
