CD#502 - 2-Color Only "Capri +1"

This is my DT card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #502 "2-Color Only".  Since Capri was a must use color wasn't sure which of the other three colors would be the best choice for my Butterfly Background die.  Decided on the yellow to make the card a little brighter, not sure if it was my best choice; but it worked.

Cut two pieces of the Butterfly background (one Capri and one Lemonade), adhered the Capri background to the Lemonade background and adhered to black cardstock.

To give dimension and show off the Lemonade background I lifted the wings and raised them with some 3D thin foam tape and Capri wings were folded at body and for more dimension curved the wings.  The smaller butterflies cut out from the Lemonade background were pieced in the Capri background with thin foam tape for a little more dimension. After looking at it now, I should have offset the yellow background to show a little more Lemonade, too late, maybe next time.

Added shimmer to the Butterflies; but it does not show up well in the photo.  A "Hugs" sentiment was cut in Lemonade and added to the right-hand bottom of card.

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble "YouNique Technique" using a honeycomb stencil for my background and Twisted Sister's optional twist to use the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #478, changing sketch to mirror image.

My Unique Technique for my background was stenciled with Tangerine Ink on White Cardstock and the sketch panels are a selection of design papers from the Sweet As Honey paperpack bordered with black cardstock.  The bee focal point was a sticker included in the paperpack.

Dino-Mite Birthday - Color Dare #500 - TicTacToe

Here is my Design Team card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare "TicTacToe" using the colors from Row 2 (Lagoon, Toffee, Sundance) + Evergreen, Wisteria, Mocha.  My neighbor had asked me if I would make a dinosaur birthday card for her one year grandchild, so I really enjoyed putting this card together. Entire card was made with cardstock and dies.

Started my card with Row 2 (Lagoon, Toffee, Sundance)... layer for the Lagoon sky, Toffee for desert sand and Sundance for the sun using stitched dies.  The palm trees were stamped in black ink on Mocha and Evergreen cardstock and the Dino was stamped on Wisteria cardstock (using the light and the dark side of each color), fussy-cut, pieced and attached to the desert sand adhered with 3D thin foam tape for dimension. Cut a few grass dies to adhere between the the sand and images.

For the sentiment... cut a couple of White stitched cloud dies, a number one in Lagoon. and stamped sentiment with Lagoon ink on the larger cloud and adhered with 3D thin foam tape. To finish off the sentiment, an Evergreen birthday die was used layered with a shadow of the Toffee.

You're a Classic - Double Trouble #113 "Let's Go Masculine"

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #113 "Let's Go Masculine" using Twisted Sister's Optional twist to use Stripes and/or Plaids and used Double Trouble's partner Try Stampin' on Tuesday's Sketch Challenge #559.

I don't often do masculine cards but the ColorMyHeart Color Dare #498 "Triple Play" were good masculine colors and the right stamp would make this a quick card.

Boy was I wrong on the quick... probably due to combining the three challenges. Selecting the right design papers was a chore and many different cuts were made before the final selection. I was set on a gold classic car and this too was not quick. My first attempt was to color the stamped classic car with Copic markers, then gold foil, glitter paper, gold pen, even went to silver and last added glitter to the original Copic car... and still wasn't satisfied. Some of the classic car coloring was used as another layer for dimension.

Had to get away from it, went to bed and got up the next morning, and with the help of my cropping buddies we voted on the best paper choice, classic car was mounted in place, but still not satisfied. The gold sequins were my determining factor on what color classic car to use; but I had already added the glitter and needed to color with Copic one more time and leave off the glitter. Fuzzy-cut the classic car and even the windows.  Many photos were taken in between to determine the closest to the gold sequins. Probably won't be any time soon that I will tackle another masculine card unless I keep it simple.  But I was happy with the end result.
