Your Friendship Means Everything

This was my first water coloring attempt...starting with a 12x12 White Daisy Sheet of Watercolor paper, I brushed on several soft colors from the coloring pallet and then blended them with water and set aside to dry.  When it was dry, I lightly sprayed with Pearl Mist and set aside to dry.  Now I had a background sheet that I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it.

This card was made for Heart2Heart Challenge, dated Monday, November 23, 2015 "Give Thanks" I referred to several You Tube Tutorials on water coloring and chose to use my new water color set from CTMH even though there were several ink and water coloring products you could use and different techniques.

I did two different focal stamped images, the first was from CTMH Stamp Set "Candlelight Garden"...stamped the jar, masked the jar to stamp the flowers and then heat embossed in silver.  And the second attempt at watercoloring I used CTMH Stamp Set "Balloon Wishes Occasions", stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with white.

I chose my first water coloring image for this challenge.  On the image I used a Gold Mist on the background masking the jar and flowers, adhered white cardstock panel to back, glued foam to the back, cut another piece of my watercolored background paper and adhered jar/flowers to background.
Stamped Sentiments directly on card.

I had a rough time with watercolors...not sure I will do water colors again; but may try another ink choice for watercoloring...I definitely need practice.

Christmas Ornaments

The Sketch used for my Christmas Card was Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #135, changing the sketch from landscape to portrait.

Using one of the Design Papers from "White Pine" and choosing the Ornament die-cut from Cricut Design Space was cut for the focal point of the card, added red glitter paper to the back of some of the ornaments, added liquid glass to the glitter, and wink of stella on the other ornaments, and then adhered to panels of white and red cardstock. Took red cardstock and dry embossed it with an ornament folder, and used sandpaper on the edges and ornaments to age it.  Cut three small ornaments from red glitter paper and added liquid glass. Tied ribbon around the card and a double bow.

Soul that Lives Within

This card is the Freebie Progressive November Challenge at The Outlawz using the image from SLS Lines (an image on the Dark Side.)  Go to The Outlawz and check out the many creative cards for this image and you still have until the end of November to be an entrant.

The Outlawz Challenge Rules:  SLS Lines Image.  Not sure all our members that enjoy 'dark' will love this image and everyone that has never tried 'dark' it will add to your repertoire!  Given the option if you opt to not submit a design for this image, you can notify The Outlawz to let them know and you will still be eligible for next month's freebies.

I wasn't sure whether I was going to participate in this challenge, but the challenge side of me decided I could do this.  While going through my stash to find appropriate paper and stamps, I came across the Adult Coloring Book I had purchased in Washington, D.C. last month when my daughter and I went back East.  I had planned to do some coloring on our air flight return to Arizona; however, forgot to pack my ShinHan pens in my carry-on.  Looking through the book I found a coloring page I would enjoy and could see it as the background of my card.

After coloring the background, I then printed and colored the 'dark' image with some of the same colors of the background, fussy-cut and added a black panel to the back of the image.  Fussy-cut the background paper on the right-hand side to bring in some black from the card frame.  Found this sentiment I thought went well.  Glued the coloring page to the black panel, then used 3D Thin Foam Tape for the image, and 3D Regular Foam Tape for the Sentiment.  And yes, now I can add interpretation of the 'dark' to my repertoire.

TRIVIA:  In this coloring page there are (4) smaller areas hidden in the colors where I didn't color them and they remain white.  Can you spot these?  They are all to the right of the 'dark' image, but not the large obvious areas of white.  You may have to enlarge picture to find them. If you find them let me know in comments by giving me the colors on each side of the white area.  The winner, first one to identify the correct white areas, can have this card or another card of their choice if still in my stock.  Good Luck.  Come back on December 5, 2015 to see if you're a Winner.

Thinking of You

I wasn't sure about this week's challenge with Color My Heart Color Dare #169, but with the Design Teams' beautiful inspirations I thought...I can do this.  And I only had to bring out one cardstock, white, and one ink Black.  So my work table was very neat until I started piecing it together...and back to my normal messy work area.  The Sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch #150 was used.

I love white poinsettias so I knew I wanted them on my card.  Poinsettias were cut from Cricut Design Center, crunched, sprayed a Pearl Mist and added a pearl to the center.  Now I needed an embossing folder with flourishes...my selection had butterflies between the flourishes, so I just simply placed my poinsettias over the butterflies.  There were bead flourishes already embossed so I pulled out my bead flourishes and just kept adding them on the already formed flourishes.

Knowingly I should have stamped the sentiment first, but I didn't. and that was a big mistake...I stamped it very crooked.  Well, I wasn't going to do the card over so a quick fix was done by adding a raised panel for the sentiment, and actually I liked it better then just stamped on the card.

Penguin Christmas Gift Tag

A batch of 35 of these Penguin Christmas Gift Tags were made for my daughter-in-law for a Thank You Card to be used for attending a Holiday Bazaar that she is participating in with her delicious chocolates. Penguin, border and snowflakes were stamped on white cardstock, colored with ShinHan alcohol based pens, and brushed on Wink of Stella on hat, scarf and snowflakes.  Adhered penguin to red cardstock. Tags were cut with white cardstock and a patterned design paper in Cricut Design Space, adhered to each other, penguin panel added to Tag and finished off with a red and white twine.

Emojis Party Time Invitation

This card was created for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #134...and my inspiration for this sketch came when I was on Facebook Messenger and looking for an Emoji.  I thought why not do an invite by iPhone for a Party.  How many of us use the iPhone for invites already?

One card, one photo...invite people on Text giving them the detail of the party (reason, date, time and place), attach photo and request an RSVP attaching their favorite Emoji. And if they don't have an iPhone, use Facebook Messenger...how clever is this?

Well, I thought it was clever until I was looking for images for iPhone and/or Emoji images.  There are stamps out there but had no time for delivery of stamps, so I went into Cricut Design Space and created my own through clipart images, designed and modified, printed and cut all in Design Space. A challenge for a challenge for sure.

Phone:  Used clip art of iPhone, communication bubble, and a couple stamp sets, and imported them into Cricut Design Space, using Print and Cut capability.  Used "Add" Text for the Words and placed some in the bubbles and the others on Message screen, "Flattened", Printed and Cut, and then colored and added designed frame.

Emjoi:  Separated each of the Emjoi's from one of the clip art Stamp Sets from the previous Import, using the "Crop" for each Emoji, named, and saved each as a single image.  The Yes, No and Maybe Bubble and Emoji were put together with a Bubble and an Emoji, resized, printed, cut and glued to Black cardstock and then adhered to card.

Any Occasion Invite:  Because the card is so generic, if you want the Party to be identified on the front of this Card, simply pull the card into Paint Shop and add a text box on the bottom left-hand corner (Sample Below) and put the occasion.  Make a larger text box and you can include the Date, Time and Place.  Save as a separate image, and then when the next party comes up, pull in your first card and add new information for your next invite.  Isn't technology fun and it can still be personalized.

A Friend, Flowers in Your Garden

The inspiration from this card came from ColorMyHeart Color Dare #168, and The Outlawz Thursday Challenge using paper piecing.  I didn't have the La Vie En Rose paper packet in my stash, but my daughter had some so I borrowed from her. I was going to do a lot of mix and match with the design papers in this packet, but when I cut out the floral, I didn't want to cover it up with any other papers, so decided to fussy-cut four of the same flowers and attached them with 3D Foam Tape for dimension.  Didn't add too many embellishments because I just didn't want to cover the floral paper so it remained as a CAS card.

Snowflakes..Kisses from Heaven

This Christmas card was inspired from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #133, which resembled a window to me, and what better than a shaker card to show off the snowflake sequins from Paper Sweeties, adding an Penguin image that is so comfortable and used to the cold and snow.  Also submitting to "Through this Window" at Heart2Heart.

Did my window first, using a snowflake embossing folder, sponged with a light blue ink, heat embossed to bring out the shine of a snowflake, and before adding to the blue panel placed variety of sequins in each window.  Chose to use darker panels on the outside to frame the window appearing as wallpaper.  Next what to do with the focal point...snowmen or penguin.  I chose the Penguin, added pink to the scarf, shadowed his tummy, and used Wink of Stella for a little sparkle.  The sentiment was from a snowmen stampset.

Fall Splendor

This is a Fall Card created for Color My Heart Color Dare #167 and using the Sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #149, also made to enter as a CAS card at The Outlawz Sunday CAS Challenge using something from your stash that you have not used in a very long time.

I started this card as a Bokeh background and looking at the colors it reminded me of  the colorful falling leaves back East "Autumn Splendor".  Instead of finishing the Bokeh technique, I used a Leaf Stamp Set and stamped several of the leaves along with some masking.  I used a combination of Chocolate and Goldrush for the background color, and then stamped the leafs in Chocolate.

Autumn...The year's last Loveliest Smile

This card was created for Paper Sweeties Inspiration #37 and my inspiration came from the color palette.  For last month's challenge I had chosen the birdcage, but missed the deadline.  So, I decided to use the birdcage for this month's challenge, having a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do, so I changed the color palette and design paper.  I love the CTMH Design Paper "Pathfinding" for Fall/Autumn cards and chose the busier design paper which included all the challenge colors, along with a soft blue...the blue would be incorporated into my embellishment.  Abigail was stamped, colored and fussy-cut, her outfit was cut from design paper for the top and the pants colored, shoes colored on feet and added liquid glass.

Back to Cricut Design Space...Selected a tag to provide a more decorative bottom for the birdcage so that I could place flowers in and around.  Selected two different flowers similar to the ones on the design paper, cut variety of colors, stamped with a small floral stamp, rolled the edges and then adhered with glue dots in/around and flowing down from the bottom of the birdcage.  Added blue and gold sequins to centers of some of the flowers, and added a flower to Abagail's hair.  3D Foam tape was used for Abigail and birdcage.  Blue crinkle ribbon/bow added to bottom of card.  The Sentiment, a quote of William Cullen Bryant, was on one of the Stamps in Paper Sweeties which I did not have, however I typed and printed the sentiment in Design Space with Very Berry color thin pen.
