Challenge TSOT #688 with DTC #209 3-2-1 Recipe "The Mail Must Go On"

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch #688 and combining it with out Sister Challenge, Double Trouble # 3-2-1 Recipe "The Mail Must Go On".

This stamp is one of my favorites and thought it would be perfect for TSOT's sketch. Using Memento London Fog ink I stamped image at an angle and off the edge of a 4" x 5 1/4" white cardstock which left a lot of white space for my CAS technique. A second image was stamped to fussy cut some of the flowers to adhere with 3D thin foam tape for dimension. Recipe completed 3-layers, 2-fussy cut images, and 1-CAS Technique.

The image was colored using Copic Sketch alcohol-base brushes in a variety of pastel colors, adhered fussy-cut florals with 3D tape, the white cardstock was bordered with a good color match of the purple flowers and then adhered to cardbase. Sentiment was stamped in London Fog.

On the inside buttom right-hand corner of the card base I stamped the same image angled at the bottom and off the edge using London Fog with no coloring.

Please hop on over to Try a Sketch On Tuesday, check out the Design Team's inspiration for this sketch and share your creativity... hope to see you there.

Challenge #202 3-2-1 Recipe "Shades of Fall" - Gobble Til You Wobble

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #202 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Shades of Fall" and combining it with our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #681) which starts on Oct 14th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for inspiration and to show how easy it is to participant in both challenges.

The sketch inspired me to copycat the leaves and blended background with at least three shades of Fall colors and for texture added the 1-ingredient a dry-embossed element "crackle" folder to my blended background.

Also decided to use a turkey image as my focal point in place of the large hexagon. Stamped turkey direct on blended background, masked and stamped a pumpkin on each side of the turkey to satisfy 2-images and Twisted Sister's optional twist.

Stamped three more images of the turkey and adhered full turkey over the stamped image and colored. Colored and fussy-cut the body of the second image, slit open the wings and adhered body with glue and 3D thin foam tape on tip of wings. Colored and fussy-cut the head of the third image and adhered to body with glue and used 3D foam tape for head. Pumpkins to each side of turkey were colored.

Three more pumpkins stamped/masked direct on blended background and then stamped, colored, fussy-cut two more images... one adhered direct to background and one adhered with 3D thin foam tape.  To keep with the sketch's larger hexagon I hand-drew a look-a-like pumpkin, colored, fussy-cut and adhered with 3D thin foam tape.

When I decided on a fun pun sentiment "Gobble til you wobble" my card needed a pie... wanted a pumpkin pie but turkey said apple was fine.  Stamped pie, colored, fussy-cut and placed under the wings of the turkey with some 3D foam in the middle and glued on sides for rounding the pie.  For the open space to left of turkey I added the fun pun and randomly stamped a few itty-bitty flower stamps around the pumpkin patch.

It sounded like a lot of work; but I really enjoy working with dimension, layering and rounding the images.  Hope you'all enjoy my festive Fall card.

DTC Challenge #200 3-2-1 Recipe "Oodles of Doodles" with TSOT #679

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #200 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Oodles of Doodles" and combining it with our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #679) which starts on Sept 16th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for inspiration and to show how easy it is to participant in both challenges.

Had lots of fun with pencil doodling and once I decided on the hedgehog I replaced pencil using a Sharpie black thin tip pen. The rest of the doodling was free-hand using Sharpi and once comfortable with doodling the card went pretty fast.

Used Copic Sketch brush pens for Twisted Sister's optional twist "Punch of Color", bordered my doodle card with pink cardstock and adhered to card base. Added a corner doodle on the inside of card.

Below are experimental doodles which I'll save for another time.

Color Dare #668

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #668 which you must use both colors as shown or closest to.  My first thought was to use these colors for a blended background with a silhouette, but then leaned toward an older technique I had not used in a while, "Triple Time Stamping".

Cut three proportional rectangle panels, stacked securing with some adhesive and used the Misti to stamp floral images using these colors in, around and across the panels. Randomly stamped small wire mesh around florals using Heather ink. Separated panels and bordered each with candy apple cardstock. and adhered each panel to match up with the floral design.  Stamped a small sentiment in the lower right-corner.

From same stamp set another floral was stamped on the inside bottom right-hand corner along with a the wire mesh.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #668 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Consider hopping over to our DTC sister challenge Try a Sketch on Tuesday and see how easy it might be to combine one or both challenges with Color Dare.

Color Dare #664 - Thank You

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #664 using at least two shades of blue.  As I was looking through my stash I came across a very old floral from one of CTMH Fundamental paperpacks and it already had two blues meeting the requirement and perfect as a background. Decided to use a third color, Sapphire, for a second border.

My immediate thought was to add butterflies using the same colors... so I sought out a pair of butterfly dies.  Cut the shadow base for each butterfly with glacier and cut the decorative butterfly for each using Lagoon. Each were glued on body part only, then adhered to background using 3D thin foam tape and the wings were rolled for additional dimension.

Sentiment was cut using Lagoon cardstock and then adhered direct to the background and a butterfly was added to the inside r-h corner of card base.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #664 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

If you like to combine additional Challenges... consider hopping over to either Double Trouble "3-2-1 Recipe" and/or our sister challenge Try a Sketch on Tuesday and see how easy it might be to combine one or both challenges with Color Dare.

TSOT #676 - 25th Anniversary

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch #676The CTMH paperpack "Love Story - Silver Pack" had some paper I've wanted to use for quite some time. My inspiration and plan was to use the 3-2-1 Recipe at Double Trouble but my final card ended up as a grey/silver monochromatic perfect for a 25th Wedding Annniversary.

I chose a scalloped hexagon cutting out the center with a smaller hexagon to make the frame for the focal point. The focal point was a flower that was right in the middle for the background patterned paper and the hexagon frame was approximately the same size as my focal point. The frame was adhered with 3D thin foam tape and from the same patterned paper the same floral was fussy-cut to use for layering and dimension.

For more dimension the leaves were lifted up over the frame, another sprig was fussy-cut and adhered with 3D thin foam tape over the same sprig on the patterned paper. Wink of Stella was added to the frame, floral, leaves and sprig which gave a little sparkle against the background.

To finish my card a sentiment was die cut using three different dies, layered 3 times for dimension and adhered to the bottom of the background. Again added Wink of Stella to bring in more sparkle against the background.

Please hop on over to Try a Sketch On Tuesday, check out the Design Team's inspiration for this sketch and share your creativity... hope to see you there.

DTC Challenge #197 3-2-1 Recipe "You're In the Spotlight" with TSOT #676

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #197 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "You're in the Spotlight" consisting of 3 Color of Choice (Purple, Yellow, Lagoon and Green), 2 Layers Not to Include Card Base, and 1 Spotlight Technique.  Click on Spotlight Technique here for easy tutorials for creating this technique. Also included using  Twisted Sister's optional twist to include flower(s) and share my card with our alternate challenge "Triple B (Butterflies, Birds & Blooms)".  My inspiration came from our sister challenge, TSOT, Try a Sketch on Tuesday #676, rotating the sketch to landscape.

In the CTMH paperpack "Love Story" there was a large floral sticker in black and white.  I chose a scalloped circle, cutting out the center with a smaller scalloped circle to make a frame for the spotlight technique. I circled off the space to be colored and then colored the florals and leaves within the circle using Copic Sketch  (alcohol-base) pens.

Adhered the floral on black cardstock, added 3D thin foam tape to adhere to the card base.  The frame was place around the colored floral sticker and adhered to the background.  To finish my card a sentiment was die cut using white cardstock was placed in upper right-hand corner.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "You're in the Spotlight" and play along with our optional twist and double dare while earning additional chances to our random drawing. Check out the Design Teams inspirations and let us see what you create... hope to see you there.
