Color Dare #654 "Thanks"

This is my Design Team card for Color Dare #654, wherein you had to use Black and Pink + one more color and I chose green.  Love Story Paperpack has a lot of black and white patterned papers so selected two and diagonally cut both and adhered to black cardstock and then to white cardbase.

This packet also had a lot of stickers for coloring and I chose this beautiful flower, fussy-cut to take off the edge and colored with a pink copic brush pen and used green for the leaves. Rather than raise the full flower I slit some of the flower pedals so that I could adhere three direct to the background and used 3D thin foam tape to lift the other pedals I slit. I do this quite frequently when I don't have other images of same to cut and layer.

In my stash I found a Thanks sentiment already cut in Mettalic Gold which was complementary to the gold in the flower center.

I went back to the stickers to look for something for the inside corner but as I was fussy-cutting the flower it slipped from my fingers and fell almost exactly as shown on the card.  It found it's home on the front of the card.

One more look at the stickers for the inside, there was a pretty gold border stamp and all I needed to do was cut the length and adhere.

Color Dare 610 Six Pack "Hugs"

Here is my Design Team card for Color Dare #610 "Six Pack" using at least three of the colors (Flamingo, Peach, Lagoon + Sage) and combined these colors using the Try a Sketch on Tuesday #651, our Double Trouble sister challenge, rotating sketch left for portrait and using a Butterfly as my circle.  A sentiment was required for the sketch so I used letter stamps on the patterned paper for a vertical sentiment and layered with Mink cardstock.

This card started out with a stamped image on white cardstock and colored using Copic Sketch pens, along with a second stamped on white cardstock to use for dimensional piece for the left-side of the butterfly.

I wasn't happy with the match of colors so stamped another image on a patterned paper and layered with Mink cardstock. Fussy cut the layered butterfly left wing and the other florals. Stamped a partial image of the butterfly (floral side) on a Peach patterned paper to replace the colored florals I was not happy with. Some of the florals were adhered direct to the stamped image on the patterned papers and some were adhered with 3D thin foam tape.

On the inside left-over fussy-cuts of the floral were colored and adhered direct to bottom corner of the cardbase in colors

DTC Challenge #153B "Recipe to a Happy Harvest" - Card 2 Happy Harvest

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble Challenge #153 "Recipe to a Happy Harvest" which includes at least 3 patterned papers, 2 embellishments and 1 Fall or Harvest Item. Twisted Sister's optional twist is to consider using Try Stampin' On Tuesday Sketch #632 and add a sentiment for another chance at the random drawing.

When making another card for this challenge, I set it aside for a future date.  I had many additional pre-cut/layered patterns from the Gnome paperpack which I was able to put together for a second card. Chose three of the patterned papers but this time chose a Cornucopia image for my Recipe.

Colored my image with Copic Sketch brushes using a variety of colors to match the colors in the paperpack, rectangle sized with part of the image fussy-cut and then layered with pumpkin cardstock.  Sentiment was stamped below the image on the larger panel and two green dots were added in the upper r-h corner to finish my "Recipe".

On the inside of the card added some patterned paper to the the right-hand side border.

I'm not laughing now because I got two cards out of my decision to use a striped turkey in my first card (see here).

Friendship - Color Dare Challenge #564 - Six Pack

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare Challenge #564 "Six Pack". While going through my stash there was an cute image of a House Mouse with a Fall leaf.  This caught my attention because there were four colors in the Color Board that could be used in the leaf, plus could die cut a tag around mouse image to use in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #540

So I started with a blended background using inks closest to the colors Grape, Nectarine, Green Apple and Raspberry... then using black ink stamped several leaves randomly on the blended background.  Cut the background in three sizes approximated as shown in sketch and adhered them leaving spacing for the black line between each cut.

The die-cut tag was narrower than the image so fussy cut the one side around a part of the leaf and a part of the mouse on the end of tag and layered a black border around the tag for shadow leaving the fussy-cut hanging over the edge.

The same ink colors were used on the leaf for a closer match to the background and applied with a paint brush; however, Copic Sketch Brush Pens were used on the House Mouse. To soften the white tag... watered down a little of the tangerine ink and swiped with a paint brush around the image.  Instead of the bow embellishment in the sketch... stamped two smaller leaves, colored with paint brush strokes and added a sequin in the middle.  The tab was then adhered to the background using 3D thin foam tape for some dimension.

Found this cute sentiment in my stash, cut to size, bordered with black cardstock and adhered to bottom r-h corner.  The inside was bordered with two of the cuts from my blended background

Wish Big - DTC Challenge #146 "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #146 "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" (aka AG) with Twisted Sister's optional twist using one or more or combination of:  A. Food/Beverage, B. Checkered pattern, C. Insect.

Double Dare offers additional chances when you combine your card with our other previous partners and my choices were ColorMyHeart Color Dare #563 "TicTacToe" and Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #540.

Twisted Sister's optional twist A. Food and/or Beverage... a hamburger die cut using a variety of cardstock colors. Also die cut a tag layered with Sapphire and adhered the hamburger using 3D thin foam tape for dimension. Die cut a bow and placed in hole of tag.

My background papers were inspired with the colors of Labor Day (red, white and blue) and Twisted Sister's optional twist B. Checkers was one of the designs with the other two stars and stripes.  Thought Wish Big was a good sentiment for this Big hamburger and stamped on bottom r-h corner with Sapphire Ink.

Optional Twist C. Insect... my thought was not to use an insect because I didn't want to spoil the deliciousness of the hamburger. But I found this adorable teeny weeny ant stamp and what is a picnic without an ant and better than annoying flies and bees.  So... a couple ants were stamped on the checkered tablecloth where they could be brushed off before they got to the hamburger.

Ants favorite human food is sugar, so I distracted them from the hamburger and guided them to the inside of my card with a piece of watermelon, another favorite food for a picnic, and the ants happily enjoyed the picnic too.

Tickled Pink for You - Double Trouble Challenge #144 "Woody" partner with FarmQuest "Pig(s)

Here is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #144 "Woody" with requirement to use woodgrain and opted to use Twisted Sister's Twist to "include a Piggy" which is a requirement for FarmQuest Challenge #33 "Pigs".  The Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch #616 was perfect for woodgrain and instead of a circle used a square frame and even included their twist behind the floral "a summer drink" behind the floral. The ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge #558 "TicTacToe" had great choices and my choice was to use Row 1: Melon, Sundance, Sage + Capri).

The background was my woodgrain requirement... smudged edges with Nutmeg ink taking on a barn texture and added a small border of melon cardstock also smudged. The banners were two patterned papers, with woodgrain strip between each, smudged edges with Nutmeg and adhered direct to my woodgrain background.

The frame for piggy was cut with same woodgrain as background in a different direction, and another panel cut for the background of the frame in same direction as background.

A lot of fussy coloring and fussy-cutting... piggy, flowers and cup using Copic Sketch Brushes in colors closest to Melon, Sundance, Sage and Capri and adhered in frame with 3D thin foam tape for dimension with additional flowers on two corners as the  embellishments shown on sketch.

Sketch didn't require a sentiment but one was added in the bottom right-hand corner using Melon cardstock and stamped with Nutmeg ink. This was a big challenge to get all the ingredients in from the four challenges, many cuts, replacing and removing pieces, until it finally came together... and I'm so happy with it, hope you enjoy this card too.

Inside of Card:  Used the outer frame, which would have gone in stash, adhered to the inside card base and stamped a sentiment in frame.  Stamped some flowers on white cardstock, used the background elements with closest row one colors and adhered under the frame, some fussy-cut on top of flowers and adhered to the frame bottom leaving space on bottom for personal note.

Please stop by and have some fun with our Double Trouble challenge and check out to see what our Team Members and Entrants have created.  Don't forget to check out our collaborating partner at Farm Quest and see their Design Team members' and entrants' projects.  Hope to see you there!

You're So Sweet - ColorMyHeart Color Dare #550

This is my Design Team card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #550 "Six Pack" selecting all the colors on the Board and using the Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #608.

For both cards the CTMH Stamp of the Month "Sweet Tweets" all images were stamped using black Memento ink on white cardstock, colored using Copic brush pens and all images were fussy-cut.  Cut the oval dies using Desert Rose (Card 1) and Wisteria (Card 2) and adhered the images on the ovals.

Card 1:  Using TSOT Sketch 608 "Landscape"

Card 2:  Using TSOT Sketch 608 "Portrait"

Background using Gel Press Technique with Oxide Inks:  Back a few weeks ago my daughter invited me to their cabin and we had decided to use one of the days to get messy and do backgrounds using the Gel Press, oxide inks and/or acrylic inks and stencils.  She had a lot of patience with me and created three times as many backgrounds as I did... I ended up with 25; but five are probably never going to see the front of a card... lol.  I came up with a pretty good match for this color challenge and decided to make two cards.

Card 1:  Best match of Melon and Desert Rose
Cardstock:  Desert Rose and White Daisy

Card 2:  Best match of Wisteria Cardstock

Voice of the Sea - Color Dare Challenge #506 Inspiration Photo

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #506 "Seaside Inspiration Photo". This color challenge shouts out brush color blending and using many of the colors to create a sea scene for the CTMH Stamp of the Month "Voice of the Sea".  This was my second attempt on a sea scene.

Used many colors and just blended and blended and blended until I felt the colors were blended similar to the inspiration photo. For the wave movement white gelly roll pen was squiqqly added...  but may have gotten carried away on the waves.

Chose the bird on the tree stump and a few shells for my focal point, did some more blending on the objects using the same colors, fussy cut all, and then placed on the sea background with 3D thin foam tape.  Two of the sentiments from the stamp set were stamped with Memento black ink directly on the background.

As I was cleaning up and putting away my supplies... my first attempt on blending was a wave stencil and questioned should I trash it or stash it.

Neither was an option... it caught my imagination.  Pulled out the same stamp set and decided to create a school of fish in colorful water... three fish and stamped on sentiment, done.

However, sent a photo to my daughter and she thought I might have stamped my fish upside down... and I had.  Determined not to throw it in trash I lifted the school of fish and turned it right-side up and restamped the sentiment on a separate panel and adhered with 3D thin foam tape, done.

Nope... somehow there was a smudge in the bottom left corner... oh no, now what?  Brought out the stamps again, stamped over the smudge with sea foliage and added a second one.  It was still missing something... added one more fish to the school at the upper right-corner, done.

Nope... it needed some bubbles.  Bubbles were added using Nuvo Crystal Drops, done... YES
