DTC Challenge #199 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise" with TSOT #678

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #199 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise" and Twisted Sister's optional twist to fill in your aperture with at least one image or make a shaker. My choice was to add one image in aperture. Also used our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #678) which starts on Sep 2nd. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges to show how easy it is to participant in both challenges.

My birthday card used CTMH "Party Gnomes" stamps which had never been used and sitting in my stash since purchase. First selected a party patterned paper, bordered with red cardstock, adhered to card base and then cut out a stitched circle aperture.

Went back and forth on whether it was going to be an aperture card or a shaker; but decided to go with the aperture using several of the party gnomes images.

Gnomes were stamped using Memento black ink, cut with Brother Scan&Cut, and colored with Copic Sketch pens.

On the inside of the card I placed the same patterned paper and adhered one gnome to display on aperture cut,  another in the corner, and placed a third gnome on front of card hiding one of the ones on the inside.

When opening the card I wasn't pleased with the gnome on the left side. As with alcohol-inks they bleed through cardstock... so, cut another gnome, pencil drew the back of the gnome, used Black Multi-liner over penciled, erased pencil marks, colored and carefully cut with circle die to fit in aperture cut. My art wasn't perfect but looked better than the color bleed.

I then cut another piece of the same patterned paper using same circle die, fussy-cut around the stitching and applied to the inside of aperture opening.  Sentiments were stamped on the front and inside of card.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, optional twist and let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Color Dare #662 Hugs

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #662This color challenge was a little bit of a challenge for me... I had no idea what I had in my stash... surprised when I found some gold metallic and a clear plastic piece of gold polka-dots.

First cut a white cardbase and a gold metallic for the border and adhered them together. The polka dot was cut the same size as the white cardbase and then adhered using glue placed behind several polka-dots so glue wouldn't be seen through the plastic.

The polka dot background appeared simple but yet eloquent... felt it deserved a pop of color for the focal point and what better than a pink flower cut from glitter and gold metallic leaves. To finish the card, cut in gold one of my favorite sentiments for an all occasion card and layered with white cardstock.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #662 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Double Trouble Challenge #44 "Wrap It Up" Opt Twist "Tie It Up" with ArtsyStampers

Here is my project for Double Trouble Challenge #44 "Wrap It Up" using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #345 and using the Optional Twist of "Tie It Up" and partnering with ArtsyStamper Digitals Challenge "Winter Holidays".

Love Newton...this was a stamp recently purchased for some of my Christmas cards...they are so sweet and all wrapped and tied up in Christmas Cheer.  My design papers were traditional red and green colors with polka-dots appearing as snow layered on red cardstock.  Colored Newton's family with Copic Sketch Brush Pens, fussy-cut the top of image before adding the red border with 3D thin foam tape.  In place of the snowflakes stamped and colored two red bows for the two corners of the frame.   This image was then added to the design papers.  Sentiment was added.

Please visit us at Double Trouble and see DT members' inspiration, along with other participants that have entered these challenges.  Join us in this fun challenge.
