DTC Challenge #197 3-2-1 Recipe "You're In the Spotlight" with TSOT #676

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #197 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "You're in the Spotlight" consisting of 3 Color of Choice (Purple, Yellow, Lagoon and Green), 2 Layers Not to Include Card Base, and 1 Spotlight Technique.  Click on Spotlight Technique here for easy tutorials for creating this technique. Also included using  Twisted Sister's optional twist to include flower(s) and share my card with our alternate challenge "Triple B (Butterflies, Birds & Blooms)".  My inspiration came from our sister challenge, TSOT, Try a Sketch on Tuesday #676, rotating the sketch to landscape.

In the CTMH paperpack "Love Story" there was a large floral sticker in black and white.  I chose a scalloped circle, cutting out the center with a smaller scalloped circle to make a frame for the spotlight technique. I circled off the space to be colored and then colored the florals and leaves within the circle using Copic Sketch  (alcohol-base) pens.

Adhered the floral on black cardstock, added 3D thin foam tape to adhere to the card base.  The frame was place around the colored floral sticker and adhered to the background.  To finish my card a sentiment was die cut using white cardstock was placed in upper right-hand corner.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "You're in the Spotlight" and play along with our optional twist and double dare while earning additional chances to our random drawing. Check out the Design Teams inspirations and let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Color Dare #662 Hugs

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #662This color challenge was a little bit of a challenge for me... I had no idea what I had in my stash... surprised when I found some gold metallic and a clear plastic piece of gold polka-dots.

First cut a white cardbase and a gold metallic for the border and adhered them together. The polka dot was cut the same size as the white cardbase and then adhered using glue placed behind several polka-dots so glue wouldn't be seen through the plastic.

The polka dot background appeared simple but yet eloquent... felt it deserved a pop of color for the focal point and what better than a pink flower cut from glitter and gold metallic leaves. To finish the card, cut in gold one of my favorite sentiments for an all occasion card and layered with white cardstock.

DTC #196 3-2-1 Recipe "Keep Us In Stitches" and TSOT #675

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #196 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Keep Us in Stitches" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #675) which starts on July 7th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

This CTMH paperpack was one of my favorite patterned papers for newborn and kid cards... patterns are so whimsical and love the bright colors. This sketch captures all the papers and it was so easy to include the images from a coordinating stamp and die set with the same theme.

Two of the patterned papers (plaid and polka-dot) were cut as in sketch, adhered to blue cardstock, die cut using a stitched frame along the border and adhered to the card base.

The three stitched circles were cut using the cloud pattern and adhered direct to background.  Images were stamped, die cut, colored with Copic sketch pens (alchohol base) and adhered to the circles using thin 3D foam tape.

A sentiment had been stamped with black ink prior to placing the baby on the circle. However, while posting I noticed Twisted Sister's optional twist (a fun pun) was not included on my card. So I looked on the Internet and the only pun I found was Stork Naked which reminded me of Stork Naked with Daffy Duck's Looney Toons. So a quick fix, removed baby from circle, a new circle cut of clouds, a typed sentiment bordered with blue cardstock and all adhered to card base background. Daffy wasn't to happy with the delivery but I think anyone who gets the card above submitted will get a laugh out of it.

In the upper L-H corner of the front of card three stitched hearts were fussy cut and adhered direct to background. Stork Naked Daffy Duck

Happy Spring - CD #546 "TicTacToe"

This is my Design Team Card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #546 "TicTacToe using the CTMH paperpack "Cosette".   The cup with flowers determined my choice of colors (using the diagonal French Vanilla, Mist and Peach) and also determine the focal point for the Try Stamping on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #603 including the optional twist to add a sentiment.  Loved the simplicity of the sketch and with plan in place this was probably one of the fastest cards I've created.

The patterned paper in Mist and French Vanilla was perfect for the Cup of Flowers background.  Two banners were cut... the top was Mist adhered to a French Vanilla border and the bottom in French Vanilla using a decorative stitched die in Mist.  Sentiment was added to the lower banner.

Fussy-cut the cup of flowers for less trim on the edges and adhered with 3D Foam Tape in a couple layers to add dimension and roundness.

For the inside of the card I added a pocket for a card gift or money using the same patterned paper in the background.

Please hop on over and join us at ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge, check out our Design Team inspiration, and let's see what you create... hope to see you there.

Double Trouble Challenge #96 "Tall Card" partnering with Ellibelle's Crafty Challenge

I was gifted Miss Ink's "Slim's Whims" stamp set of my Grand-FurBaby (Slim) by his Mom and my daughter, Lisa Bzibziak (aka BZScrapper66.blogspot.com).  The coloring was so important to me... so I cheated and went to Lisa's blog for her first post introducing Slim and used her photos and choice of colors.  And here is my completed portrait  using "Slim's Whim".

This was such a fun card created for our Double Trouble Challenge #96 "Tall Card and Thin Cuts" (aka dies).  Twisted Sister's optional twist was to use items that started with "T".  Double Dare says if you have met Thing 1's requirement don't forget to enter your card  at Ellibelle's Corner Crafty Challenge.

My friend/neighbor, Melanie, had a layering stencil from Tim Holtz which is a Tangled and Twisted Scribble Stencil. So nice to have a friend and nextdoor neighbor to crop and share Things. On white cardstock I sponged with, of course, Turquoise. Using a Thin Diea stitched frame, I cut the sponged background, adhered a layer of black cardstock and then adhered to the white card base.

I wanted a lot of dimension to the card... started out with three stamped images of Slim, colored with Copic Sketch brush pens, fussy-cut separately the full body,  his head, his muzzle and layered with 3D thin foam tape between each layer.

Stamped two cups with paws.  Personally colored in a Turquoise Tartan Plaid on the Tea Cup and fussy-cut the full stamped image. Only the paws were colored on the other stamp, fussy-cut and then layered with 3D Thin foam Tape between them.  Stamped a Tea Bag in Turquoise with a small sentiment, slit the cup a bit to add on the edge of the Tea Cup and adhered with 3D Thin foam Tape.

The Tie stamped and colored same as the tea cup, fussy-cut and adhered with 3D Thin foam Tape.  The glasses were stamped, colored, fussy-cut and adhered with 3D Thin foam Tape.  The last dimension added was liquid glass on his nose and nails.  Layered a "Hugs" Thin die cut using White cardstock to hide among the Tangled and Twisted background and got the effect wanted.

Twisted Sister's Optional Twist:  My "T" Mix-ins for this twist were Color Turquoise, Tea, Tea Cup and Tea Bag, Tie (Bow), Tangled and Twisted Background, Tartan Plaid on Cup and Tie and Thin Foam Tape.  Let's tee what "T's" you come up with.

On the inside I used the same stencil on the corner and stamped another sentiment. The photo below was an attempt to see the dimension of Slim; but it didn't really do it justice like it does in person.

My last venture was to show Slim my card to get his approval.  My daughter took several photos but he insisted on looking away except for this one.  Makes me wonder, was he happy with it?  Yes he was... he pulled back his ears and consoled me that he just wanted to show off his colors from all angles and let me know he loved the card.

Double Trouble Challenge #92 "Fun Fold" Using Playdoh Colors and partnering with Creative Creases

This is my Design Team Halloween card for Double Trouble Challenge #92 "Fun Fold" with stamped images from CTMH "Spooky Gnomes" and Twisted Sister's twist to include at least one of Paydoh's mascots colors (purple, red, green, blue, orange and yellow).  So out came my Copic Sketch Brush Pens using a variety of the colors except for red.

My intent was to only use the Spanner Panel Card until I got to the inside of the card and it screamed out to me to add an insert for a dimensional pop-up.

The Witch Gnome is on the front of my card, guarding the gate, however, lift the gate and you will see that the the Trick and Treaters got past him.  The fun fold cuts are easy... you just need your imagination for your story. The folds were fun to put together, fun using several scraps of retired papers, fun coloring all the images and the result of a Fun Fold card to share with our partner at Creative Creases "Any Fun Fold" using at least one stamped item.

Color Dare #460 "Crazy 8" - Happy Birthday

This is my DT Card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #460 "Crazy 8" challenge.  All you have to do is choose 4 of the outside block colors and you are welcome to use any products as long as they are the closest match. After choosing your 4 Blocks, if you want to use additional blocks it's your choice as long as you use "Only" blocks included on the Color Palette above.

The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #436 was perfect for many of the color blocks from Crazy 8 palette and great for a mini slimline card.  The sketch was already a beautiful card so other than using similar cuts the sketch was almost duplicated.  Using this sketch was a perfect choice to use in the Cut It Up Challenge #233 "Use a Sketch of Your Choice" and make sure you include a die (this was not a problem with this sketch for sure).

Went through the Wood Grain CTMH Paperpack and found a wood grain that had almond and/or pebble color.  Proceeded to cut many flowers, leaves and fern using various dies.  The sentiment panels were cut and Happy Birthday Sentiment stamped with black ink.  The flowers were layered and adhered with glue and thin foam tape for dimension. Fern and leaves and additional little flowers were added around the cluster of the flowers.

Used some of the left over cuts of flowers, leaves and ferns for the bottom corner of the inside of the card.

Color My Heart Color Dare challenges are carried forward for two weeks so if you didn't share a project for this TicTacToe challenge you still have another week to enter.

Both challenges are on the side bar of the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge blog. Please check out Design Team Cards and other entrants to give you inspiration and join us for future fun color challenges.

Batty in Love - Double Trouble Challenge #37

This is my DT card for the Double Trouble Challenge #37 "We're Mad for Plaid" and I chose the Paper Smooches September Sketch Challenge however, decided to reverse the sketch upside-down.

Decided to make a Halloween card and went with several design papers for my die cuts, stamps and background to meet Thing 1: Trouble Maker's Challenge requirement of "something plaid".

Also used Thing 3 Twisted Sister's optional twist "Tag It" using tags and/or frames on your project...die cut three different design papers for frames, adhered to another design paper for background and layered with a black panel.

Thing 2 Double Trouble says "if you have used this optional twist you can also enter in the Use Your Stuff Challenge #375 "Tags and Frames".

Sentiment was stamped on the small orange frame. Using the same purple design paper and a black foam for dimension...die cut the tree and adhered to the orange star frame. Again using the same purple design paper, stamped the bat with Versa-Mark, heat embossed with black embossing powder and adhered to the plaid frame with 3D thin foam tape. Spiders were cut from black cardstock, attached nail detail for the hanging web from tree and adhered spiders with 3D thin foam rounds. The spiders, tree and bat were finished off with glitter pen.

'Bats in the Belfry' refers to someone who acts as though he has bats careering around his topmost part, that is, his head. So, I must have Bats in my Belfry.

You ask, Why? The photo below was my original DT card until one of the DT members said, "shouldn't the bat be upside down?" Pulled out my stamp and sure enough the bat was pictured upside down. I thought, who would know, but the other thought was, I would know. Soooo, I proceeded carefully lifting off the bat; however not careful enough as it left a small tear in the plaid. Added a little more limb to the tree and hung the bat upside down making sure it covered the tear. Now, not that I was unhappy with my original card; but I just thought it would look cute upside down...and I think I was right. Either way it put a smile on my face.

Buddy Post Coffee Loving Cardmakers with Paper Smooches

My daughter (aka Lisa Bzibziak) asked me and my friend, neighbor and member of our Little Crop Group (Melanie Richards) if we wanted to participate as Buddies for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers with our focus on using a sketch and products from Paper Smooches.  And an extra plus, I was able to combine with the Three Amigos last Challenge "Inspiration Board".

Our job was to select a sketch from Paper Smooches. So off to the internet...looking up some of the oldest sketches and found this Sparks Challenge from July 2011. Interesting concept whereby each month you were given (10) sketches and/or a color combo of (12) choices. We chose the first sketch and the next morning we went off to a crop together at my daughter's...what a fun time, lunch at Lisa's home and ended with dinner at Red Lobster.

This card has also been shared with Double Trouble "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" Challenge #34 using our Twisted Sister's Optional Twist "Sunshine" - Please check us out - you probably already have something you have created that will fit this challenge...come aboard with Thing 1, 2 and 3...we would love your participation.

From left to right:
Melanie - Stitches And Smudges
Lisa - Life of a BZScrapper
and Sue (That's Me) - I Luv Scrapping Too

I knew the dies and stamps I was going to use and of course what my layout would be but it took me a long time to put them together.  Colored the sun/cloud stamp and the cup with Copic Sketch pens...that was the easy part.

Gemini was kept pretty busy...cut several Paper Smooches "House Plants" in many different design papers and placed them against some very plain background papers. It wasn't until I came across a cute cloud background that I could see my card coming together. Again, there was a lot of switching around the different patterned House Plants previously cut but finally saw that background was an excellent choice. It was time for our trip to Red Lobster so my card was finished at home.

At home, cut out one more "House Plant" and it was the one that made it pop, adhered to the background with the last cut placed with flower and leave edges curled for dimension.

The larger cloud was adhered directly to the background and the cloud/sun was layered and adhered with 3D thin foam tape.  The little birdie and sentiment were final adds to my card.
