DTC Challenge #155 - "Holiday 2023" with Partner "Use Your Stuff"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble Challenge #155 "Die-cember" collaborating with Use Your Stuff "Wrapping Up" with Ribbons and Bows".  To meet the ribbon and/or bow requirement my gnome image is holding a gift wrapped up with a ribbon and bow.

We were so sorry to learn that Use Your Stuff challenges will be closing the end of this year. Double Trouble had partnered a lot of fun challenges since 1918 and they will be missed.  Let's give them a big send off and enter a project for their last challenge and leave them a comment.

Following the tutorial for this Fun Fold Card... pieces were cut for the card base, frame and design papers. After adhering the design papers the smaller die was used to cut through the front of the card.

The gnome with gift was stamped on white cardstock two times using black ink... one was stamped on the scalloped circle, colored with Copic sketch pens and bordered with another scallop cut from sapphire cardstock. The second was fussy-cut (gift only), colored and adhered with 3D thin foam tape to the first image.

On the bottom inside of the card base stamped in black ink using the masking technique for the gnome and two mushrooms and on the far right two more mushrooms. Took to my Copic brush pens and colored using some of the same colors and many others.

On the front of the card the sentiment "Hello" was cut using the same stripe patterned paper as the front of card and bordered with sapphire cardstock and  lined up with the background pattern.  The gnome sentiment was added to the inside of the card base.

At Double Trouble Our Things 1, 2 and 3 sure bring on some wierd combinations but I like to challenge them all; however, you have the flexibility of doing just Thing 1 to used your favorite cutter and include at least one die cut on your project and be eligible for our random draw. Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble to check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

For those that really like more of a challenge may want to include Twisted Sister's optional twist "Wrap It Up" and/or enter at Use Your Stuff, our partner for this challenge if you have met their requirement... you will be rewarded additional chances for the random draw. Please join us for this fun challenge

Thinking of You - Double Trouble Challenge #141 - "SomeThing AnyThing EveryThing" Mini Slimline

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" challenge using Twisted Sister's optional twist to create a Slimline card to celebrate the longest day of the year.  I chose CTMH "Cherry Blossoms" because it was a good fit for a mini slimline and perfect for a Thinking of You card for a special friend. Stamped, fussy-cut and colored the Cherry Blossoms and set aside.

Since I made quite a few Gel Press backgrounds at my daughter's cabin retreat that's the first place visited to seek out a background... it's nice to pull out backgrounds already completed and not have to get messy.  This background was chosen for the pretty pattern and color to show off my cherry blossoms.

We had lunch the other day with a friend in Mesa and decided on our way home we would visit our local scrapbooking store "Scraps of Love" and found some great windows for a mini card... and windows are great for a shaker card. So the hexagon cuts were made on the gel press background when I realized I was lacking a 1/2" to cover the length of the mini; but had just enough cut off on the width to extend the bottom which adhered tightly to the bottom.

Added my acrylic panel, placed foam tape around windows and edges, added the sequins, cut a patterned paper in pale pink (doily-like affect), adhered patterened paper to the back of the windows and then to the card base.

Added the sentiment to the right corner of the card, and since I saw the line of the add on of background paper decided to cut one of the other cherry blossom stamps and place over the line. I love dimension and layers so I stamped another branch of the cherry blossoms and cut out three of the flowers, fussy-cut and adhered with 3d thin foam tape.

The inside of the card was bordered with a piece left over from my personalized gel print background and another one of the florals in the bottom corner.  Also cut a piece of that same flowers and adhered with 3d thin foam tape for dimension.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble Challenge #141 "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" and check out the Design Teams inspiration using Twisted Sister's Optional twist to create a Slimline card. And don't forget to combine with any of our previous partners and get an additional chance for our random draw prize for each partner you shared your project.

Howl-idays & Meowy - Double Trouble Challenge #134

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #134 "PAWsome Pets" celebrating National Puppy Day.  Pulling out CTMH's  "A Furry Merry Christmas" Stamp and Die set which has kittens and puppies along with some cute puns, perfect for this challenge.  We are partnering with Use Your Stuff Challenge #480   "Animals"

On White cardstock stenciled the Christmas Tree sponged with Willow and Emerald inks, fussy-cut and adhered to background paper allowing space for the two sentiments and using 3D thin foam tape on one side of tree for dimension.

It's been a long time since coloring with pencils which I had bought at a Pencil Coloring Class more than three years ago.  Later also purchased some gamsol as seen used in some of our Double Trouble entrants' that colored with pencils.  Dusted off my color pencil box, went to YouTube to see how Gamsol is applied... and I was off to coloring my images with pencils.  And this is my completed project using color pencils.  I think I need more practice for improvement... so I'm not stopping here.

On the inside of card I added some paw-prints on the right-hand border and another sentiment "Wishing you a PURR-FECT Christmas".

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble Challenge #134 "PAWsome Pets" and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there. You may also want to hop on over to Inspiration Station to check out their Design Team projects too.

And don't forget... if you have a Pet Share with us at Double Trouble Challenge #134 and make sure you read the rules on our post for eligibility to be included in this special random draw prize.

SLIM'S SPECIAL RANDOM DRAW FOR You and Your PAWsome PET PHOTO
Slim, one of my Grand-Fur-babies, wants to acknowledge National Puppy Day with his FURends (puppies and kittens) for this Special Random Draw. Slim wanted to share this day with his Grandma and Aunt Cleo.

When Slim visits me, his Grandma, Aunt Cleo will run under the bed and won't come back out until she knows Slim has gone home. They only had one encounter and it didn't go well... so we keep it to a Zoom visit.

My daughter gave me a tee-shirt with a picture of a cat which says "Pay Attention to Me Ignoring You". My Cleo has a mind of her own, and she's the boss and she will let me know when she wants to play, wants attention and/or snacks. But she's a sweetheart.

Happy Holidays - Double Trouble Challenge #128

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #128 "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing".  Twisted Sister's optional twist to use "stenciling" somewhere in your project was perfect for my CTMH Cherish floral stamp, stencil and die set. I still need a few more Christmas cards and decided on red and green traditional colors would be used for my brush stenciling.

Floral was stamped, three stencils were used for the different colors and cut with the thin die.  The green fern was colored with a dark green Copic brush pen, added white dots in the center of the flowers, glitter pen on the flowers and Novo drops to the berries.

Had problem matching up reds so decided to use a black and white snowflake patterned paper (which has been in my stash before the Pandemic), and adhere it to Candy Apple cardstock and then to card base. Used thin foam tape on the floral and adhered to the snowflake background to add dimension. That paper looks so rich against the pop of the red floral. Sentiment was also on the Color Sheet, cut sentiment, added a very thin layer of Candy Apple cardstock and adhered direct to background.

Merry Christmas - ColorMyHeart Color Dare #528 "Wild Card"

It wasn't very difficult for me to choose my Wild Card colors for ColorMyHeart Color Dare's Challenge #528... love the traditional colors in Christmas cards and still needed cards for mailing.  So, I started out with using all the papers from Christmas Story and cut 1/2" strips of each patterned paper (about three of each) and I was able to make 3 cards with the same papers, but different.  Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch #586 was a fairly versatile sketch... instead of the rectangle panel it was replaced with the kitten stamped image.

In my stash was Newton's Chrismas Kittens helping with the presents, or maybe not.  I took a couple patterns off the background and attempted to duplicate a couple of the strips for the gift wrapping (the dots and the stripes) using copic brush pens and the multi-liners "White" and "Gold". Newton's family were all colored with three shades of grey.  The sentiment was stamped on Mink cardstock and then layered a border of scarlet.

Greetings From Arizona - Cool Holidays

Here is my card for the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #12 Snowman. One of my last Christmas cards for this year and this card is for a very special high school friend back East.  This was such a fun card to make and I know she will enjoy it.

I started with the Whimsy melting Snowman stamped on white cardstock and used a multi-liner black pen to add some melted snow below the fan to place a cup of hot chocolate.  Colored the image, stamped the sentiment and then cut out the top portion of the image for later placement on the background.  Cut, stamped and colored the cup of chocolate, placed on the bottom corner on the added melting snow adhering with thin foam tape for dimension.

Now I needed to build the scene.  Selected a blue pattern paper for the sky and bordered with candy apple cardstock and adhered to cardbase. Cut a layered sun, colored, stamped sentiment on center cut of sun and adhered direct to background paper.   Cactus was cut (only partial used), and adhered to background paper. I had colored the flowers that were a part of the cactus die cut but wasn't pleased with the look, so went through my stash to find some small flowers.  Flowers stamped with candy apple ink, fussy-cut and adhered to cactus with glue dots.  The image was added to the background with thin foam tape.

Merry Christmas using BYSHC #29 Sketch Challenge - Card 1

This Christmas card was made using the BYSHC Sketch #29.  Cut two different 4 x 5 1/4" CTMH "Christmas Story" patterned papers cutting diagonal, corner to corner, and used two of each of the triangles adhering each card on a Candy Apple cardstock border and then to card base.

Card 1

Card 1:  Used two different size Sizzix scalloped circles, one in Candy Apple cardstock and the other in Mink cardstock.  CTMH S1912 stamp of a fern/pinecone was stamped using evergreen ink and Copic E71 for the pinecones and sentiment was from another CTMH S1508 stamp using Toffee ink.

Trick or Treat - Double Trouble #124 - SomeThing, AnyThing, Everything

Here is my design team card for Double Trouble "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" using Twisted Sister's optional twist to include a wild life critter(s).  When I saw the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #497 it cried out to use this sketch for my last Halloween card... this was so fun sketch to work with all the variations of the sketch.

In place of the banners on the upper left-hand upper border I chose to put a couple of candies peeking out from behind the two patterned paper rectangles.  The eyes of the bat were replacement for the two embellishments in the upper right-hand corner and another candy at the left-hand corner as the embellishment.

A sentiment was stamped several times with pumpkin treat baskets bordered in black and then adhered with 3D thin foam for dimension and a place to stand the Witch Owl. Owl was stamped, colored and adhered to the background orange and black rainbow circle with 3D thin foam tape also for dimension.  All candies were fussy-cut with candies placed as embellishments, under the arm of the owl, her broomstick and adhered with foam tape.

Pumpkin Kisses - Color Dare #518 - Triple Play

This is my Design Team card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #518 "Triple Play" using Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #494.  Looking at this sketch it already gave me the theme for a nice Fall card and the color challenge seemed a good fit. The sketch really defined and made it so easy to create this card.

Using the colors from the board, all pieces were cut using the light and dark sides of Melon, Desert Rose and Rosemary cardstock.  The background was cut using the light side of Melon and the pretty border dies using the darker side to enhance and give some dimension to the background.  The banners were cut in different sizes and adhered to the background.

The pumpkins were stamped and then cut with the thin dies; however, if I mess up on the placement of the stamp, I'll correct by fussy-cutting closer, which I really do prefer a closer cut.  The stamps and foliage were adhered with variable 3D thin foam tape for dimension.  Finished off with the sentiment stamped directly to the background.
