TSOT Sketch #700 "Christmas in July"

Here is my card for Try a Sketch on Tuesday #700.  I happened to come across a sketch that was very similar to the TSOT sketch and it was a fun fold tutorial "Fun Fold Peek a Boo Card" at Creative Tree House (Robin).  So, went through my Christmas paperpacks for complimentary patterned paper and cut all the pieces as identified at the beginning of the tutorial. Once I had these cut I was able to create the fun fold within same time as tutorial.

The Winter Wishes sticker with sentiment on the inside was perfect for the circle aperture and the add of the die cut pine cone needles was a "think it needs something more" and it was a great match with the patterned paper.

Hop on over and join us at Try a Sketch On Tuesday and check out the Design Teams inspiration.

TSOT #690 Sketch Challenge and DTC 3-2-1 Recipe "In with the Old, Out with the New" - Happy Birthday

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #690) and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Double Trouble #211 "3-2-1 Recipe "In with the Old, Out with the New" and entering at our alternate challenge "Critter Crazy Challenge #108 "Anything Goes with Featured Critter".

I wasn't so lucky to find Twisted Sister's optional twist to include a piggie; however, I did find a stamp set with some cute critters which had not yet been used and in my stash for over a year. Another oldie in my stash was a background die of rays which somewhat emulates TSOT sketch #690. So, I'm proud to create something "Old" and come out with something "New" using the DTC 3-2-1 recipe (3-Layers, 2-colors, 1-image).

Please hop on over to Try a Sketch On Tuesday, check out the Design Team's inspiration for this sketch and share your creativity... hope to see you there.
And...
You may want to hop on over to our sister challenge, Double Trouble to see if you have already met their 3-2-1 Recipe ingredients. If you have, you can enter their challenge and be eligible for 3-4 chances to their random drawing, or maybe you just have to add an ingredient to meet the requirement.

DTC Challenge #208 3-2-1 Recipe "Waddle We Do Next"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #208 3-2-1 Recipe "Waddle We Do Next". When I saw Twisted Sister's optional twist to include a penguin, there was no question in my mind, a penguin card it would be. May be a little out of the box, but my inspiration was from our sister's challenge TSOT's sketch.

While looking for my CTMH penguin stamp set I came across this cute summer stamp set from Rubbernecker (aka as Brass & Bliss) which my daughter had gifted me some time ago and never used.

This stamp set needed a beach scene so I pulled out a retired stamp set from CTMH "Writing in the Sand" and stamped sea and sand on a piece of vanilla cardstock. The sea was first stamped with Peacock, moved cardstock up slightly and stamped with Sea Glass and then used Sea Glass and lightly sponged all of the sea portion. The sand portion it was stamped with Chocolate ink and then lightly sponged with the same color. Used an oval die to cut the sea/sand and adhered to a blue panel, and then to card base.

Stamped all the images using Momento black ink, cut with my Brother ScanNCcut, colored with Copic Sketch pens, and adhered using glue and 3D thin foam tape for dimension.

Color Dare #664 - Thank You

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #664 using at least two shades of blue.  As I was looking through my stash I came across a very old floral from one of CTMH Fundamental paperpacks and it already had two blues meeting the requirement and perfect as a background. Decided to use a third color, Sapphire, for a second border.

My immediate thought was to add butterflies using the same colors... so I sought out a pair of butterfly dies.  Cut the shadow base for each butterfly with glacier and cut the decorative butterfly for each using Lagoon. Each were glued on body part only, then adhered to background using 3D thin foam tape and the wings were rolled for additional dimension.

Sentiment was cut using Lagoon cardstock and then adhered direct to the background and a butterfly was added to the inside r-h corner of card base.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #664 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

If you like to combine additional Challenges... consider hopping over to either Double Trouble "3-2-1 Recipe" and/or our sister challenge Try a Sketch on Tuesday and see how easy it might be to combine one or both challenges with Color Dare.

TSOT #676 - 25th Anniversary

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch #676The CTMH paperpack "Love Story - Silver Pack" had some paper I've wanted to use for quite some time. My inspiration and plan was to use the 3-2-1 Recipe at Double Trouble but my final card ended up as a grey/silver monochromatic perfect for a 25th Wedding Annniversary.

I chose a scalloped hexagon cutting out the center with a smaller hexagon to make the frame for the focal point. The focal point was a flower that was right in the middle for the background patterned paper and the hexagon frame was approximately the same size as my focal point. The frame was adhered with 3D thin foam tape and from the same patterned paper the same floral was fussy-cut to use for layering and dimension.

For more dimension the leaves were lifted up over the frame, another sprig was fussy-cut and adhered with 3D thin foam tape over the same sprig on the patterned paper. Wink of Stella was added to the frame, floral, leaves and sprig which gave a little sparkle against the background.

To finish my card a sentiment was die cut using three different dies, layered 3 times for dimension and adhered to the bottom of the background. Again added Wink of Stella to bring in more sparkle against the background.

Please hop on over to Try a Sketch On Tuesday, check out the Design Team's inspiration for this sketch and share your creativity... hope to see you there.

You may want to hop on over to our sister challenge, Double Trouble to see if you have already met their 3-2-1 Recipe ingredients. Color Dare #662 Hugs

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #662This color challenge was a little bit of a challenge for me... I had no idea what I had in my stash... surprised when I found some gold metallic and a clear plastic piece of gold polka-dots.

First cut a white cardbase and a gold metallic for the border and adhered them together. The polka dot was cut the same size as the white cardbase and then adhered using glue placed behind several polka-dots so glue wouldn't be seen through the plastic.

The polka dot background appeared simple but yet eloquent... felt it deserved a pop of color for the focal point and what better than a pink flower cut from glitter and gold metallic leaves. To finish the card, cut in gold one of my favorite sentiments for an all occasion card and layered with white cardstock.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #662 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

DTC #196 3-2-1 Recipe "Keep Us In Stitches" and TSOT #675

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #196 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Keep Us in Stitches" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #675) which starts on July 7th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

This CTMH paperpack was one of my favorite patterned papers for newborn and kid cards... patterns are so whimsical and love the bright colors. This sketch captures all the papers and it was so easy to include the images from a coordinating stamp and die set with the same theme.

Two of the patterned papers (plaid and polka-dot) were cut as in sketch, adhered to blue cardstock, die cut using a stitched frame along the border and adhered to the card base.

The three stitched circles were cut using the cloud pattern and adhered direct to background.  Images were stamped, die cut, colored with Copic sketch pens (alchohol base) and adhered to the circles using thin 3D foam tape.

A sentiment had been stamped with black ink prior to placing the baby on the circle. However, while posting I noticed Twisted Sister's optional twist (a fun pun) was not included on my card. So I looked on the Internet and the only pun I found was Stork Naked which reminded me of Stork Naked with Daffy Duck's Looney Toons. So a quick fix, removed baby from circle, a new circle cut of clouds, a typed sentiment bordered with blue cardstock and all adhered to card base background. Daffy wasn't to happy with the delivery but I think anyone who gets the card above submitted will get a laugh out of it.

In the upper L-H corner of the front of card three stitched hearts were fussy cut and adhered direct to background. Stork Naked Daffy Duck
