CAS Cards - Double Trouble Challenge #106 "Less is More"

Double Trouble Challenge #106 "Less is More" is challenging us to create Clean and Simple (CAS) cards and Twisted Sister's optional twist "White + One Color" and if the optional twist is  used it can be  entered at our partner's challenge Use Your Stuff Challenge #444 "White + 1 Color"

This was quite a challenge for me because I love layering and CAS is out of my comfort zone.  However, after viewing a couple You Tube tutorials proved very helpful and I didn't want to stop creating CAS cards.  Of course my first attempt ended up in the trash.

Happy Birthday - Color Dare 488 - Fancy 5

Here is what I thought was my DT card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #488 "Fancy 5" color palette. But until it was posted this morning I didn't realize that I used the wrong color palette which did not include the colors chosen for the corrected palette.

My choices from the wrong palette, as you can see, were Sangria, Mulberry and Shortbread which none were close to the correct color palette.  I wondered why my card did not look as bright as the other projects from our Design Team; but didn't question at the time.  Anyway, here is my own color selection for this card.

I was catching up on some of my inventory of dies and I came across some half card panels which could be used very easily for a gatefold card. My decision was to use all cardstock instead of patterned papers. Cut two sets of the floral using mulberry and the frame using sangria and adhered them to each side of my gatefold card base cut from shortbread.

Keeping with using cardstock and dies decided to use a couple Sizzix fancy frames in sangria and shortbread and adhered with 3D thin foam tape to the left-hand side panel with the overlap to the right side of the gatefold. Cut three dragonfly's, two in sangria and one in mulberry, layered and adhered to the fancy frame.

Didn't have enough room for a sentiment so I cut a smaller fancy frame in shortbread and then fussy-cut a layer in sangria, stamped on a sentiment and adhered to the dragonfly focal point.

Color Dare challenges are carried forward for two weeks so if you didn't share a project for this Inspiration Photo challenge you still have another week to enter.

Both challenges are on the side bar of the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge blog. Please check out Design Team Cards and other entrants to give you inspiration and join us for future fun color challenges.  Hope to see you there.

I'm Stuck on You - Double Trouble Challenge #105 "Bring On the Green" partnering with Heart2Heart

Here is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #105 "Bring on the Green" and using Twisted Sister's optional twist to "include plaid" and partnering with Heart2Heart "Wearin' of the Green".

Started with a stencil to create a personalized plaid on white cardstock, brushing in a couple shades of green, cut plaid with a stitched frame, layered with Evergreen cardstock and also stamped sentiment in Evergreen.

The Cacti images were stamped with inks Evergreen and Pomegranate and the clay pots with inks Toffee and Tangerine. The pots and cacti were masked, colored with Copic brush pens, and adhered to plaid frame with thin foam tape for dimension. Added some white highlights on the cacti and dotted the center of the flower with

A larger stitched frame layered with Evergreen was cut, adhered to card base and the Plaid focal point adhered to the White stitched frame.

Color Dare #486 Recipe 3,2,1 Color Challenge - Any Occasion Note Card

This is my Design Team card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge #458 "Recipe 3-2-1" using one of my favorite floral patterned papers from CTMH "Every Little Thing" paperpack and card base in Wisteria cardstock.  The floral patterned paper included 3 CTMH color choices (Wisteria, Mint and Julep) and neutrals (black and white) and used Glitter for my Butterfly.  I thought this challenge would be pretty challenging but all you need is a patterned paper with your three colors and neutrals and a little glitter or metallic.

The sketch for Try Stampin' on Tuesday's Challenge #545 provided inspiration for my card. Based on the sketch, I decided to go with a Clean and Simple style but as I developed my design I found myself being led in a different direction. I kept tweaking my CAS design, adding floral paper, and omitting the white space usually associated with CAS cards. While keeping the layers to a minimum, I added the sparkly butterfly. So I see my card as an "Enhanced CAS" style and I am pleased with the result.

On the inside white cardstock was cut for sentiment and/or personal note for any occasion and layered with a scalloped frame using Wisteria cardstock. In the corner one of the frame were added a couple of the stickers included in the paperpack. Now maybe the inside could be my CAS attempt.

Cleo has found a new spot she thinks she can occupy... unfortunately I placed my photo light box near her path from one windowsill to another.  Had to take a couple pictures before I told her this was a No, No and she just stared at me... What's a No, No?
