TSOT #666 Sketch Challenge "Just Chickin In"

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch On Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch Challenge #666, and combining it with our sister challenge Double Trouble #187The combination of these two challenges are a lot of fun... my fun was using the sweet Chicks for the sketch and DTC 3-2-1 Recipe "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing". The ingredients for my project were 3-Dies, 2-Layers, 1-Design Paper, plus enhancements.

Next to choosing the chicks in my stash that had never been used I chose one of my favorite CTMH plaid patterned papers for my background, bordered with Sapphire cardstock and adhered to a white cardbase.

The chick dies were very small pieces and the die was one piece for most of the elements. So many cuts were made using different cardstock colors... but if I had given it a little more thought before all these cuts I would have used only white cardstock, colored each piece and assembly of chicks would have been less time.  Now I know why these were in my stash unused... lol

Probably spent as much time in arranging and rearranging the positions of each chick to imitate the appearance of the sketch. These were adhered using glue and 3D thin foam tape for dimension. Not complaining because they came out so cute.

A Happy Easter sentiment was going to be used, but thought the fun pun was perfect for an any occasion card.

Hop on over and check out the TSOT Sketch Challenge, check out the Design Teams inspiration, let's see what you create... hope to see you there.

DTC Challenge #186 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" - Beautiful Friend

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #186 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch Challenge #665 which starts on March 4th so this card will not be entered in the TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

Back in the Spring of last year, my daughter, a friend and I went up to her cabin for the weekend and did a batch of gel press designs using inks, stencils and foil. They have been in my stash for a long time and thought this might be a good time to check them out for our 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" to satisfy the two stencil ingredients... and I got lucky.

The same stencil was used for both designs using different colors and foils. The green and gold gel press design was used to satisfy the 2 of the 3 color ingredient and the second gel press using orange and green to satisfy the other color of my choice.

Butterfly first cut using the orange/green design, along with another cut using green glitter and some of the glitter pieces were pieced in the first cut. Additionally two cuts of the sentiment using the orange/green design and layered. The butterfly was partially adhered to the background and used some thin foam tape for dimension on the upper wings.

Twisted Sister had an optional twist to include a shamrock.  Using green glitter cut a 4-leaf clover and removed one heart leaf to corner and balance the glitter under the sentiment.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Then hop on over and check out the TSOT Sketch Challenge, check out the Design Teams inspiration, and consider using their sketch with our 3-2-1 recipe.

TSOT Sketch #662 "Witching You a Happy Halloween"

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday #662 using the Double Trouble 3-2-1 Recipe "Say Cheese & Smile".

My daughter recently gave me this adorable "Halloween Cat" stamp set which was perfect to use for Double Trouble's 3-2-1 Recipe to satisfy the ingredient of 3 Images of Choice and one ingredient a Sentiment that makes you Smile. Have a folder in my stash of CTMH Halloween paperpacks and chose 2 for the ingredient patterned papers.  So, all I had to do was incorporate my recipe into the TSOT sketch.

The background patterned papers were cut and bordered with tangerine cardstock, and adhered to the cardbase. Stamped several of the images, colored using Copic Sketch brush pens, and set aside.

Three circle sizes were cut, one set in colonial white cardstock and second set in tangerine. The colonial panel of each circle was adhered to the tangerine offset on left side giving a contrast border against the lighter background. Circles were adhered to background as positioned in the sketch and selected images were adhered to the circles with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.

Sentiment was stamped on colonial white, bordered with tangerine cardstock and adhered to cardbase near middle circle.

Please hop on over and join us at Try a Sketch on Tuesday and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Double Trouble 183 3-2-1 Recipe "Say Cheese & Smile"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #182 3-2-1 Recipe "Say Cheese & Smile". Twisted Sister's optional twist was to include a mouse or something cheesy. In my stash I have one mouse stamp set "Snow Mice" and the recipe had three Images which were perfect for the recipe ingredient of 3 images and the TSOT sketch.  The next ingredient was two patterned papers so pulled out my Christmas stash and found the perfect snow flurry background papers.

Chose to use our sister challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday's #662, which does not start until 1/21/2025. This card will not be entered in the challenge as it would be backlinking... but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.  I will use the TSOT sketch in future challenges with the same ruling.

Double Trouble #182 - 3-2-1 Recipe "Warm and Cuddly"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #182 "3-2-1 Recipe Warm & Cudley" combining it with Color Dare #633 Board. Click on DTC photo below for recipe, plus I included Twisted Sister's optional twist and shared with Double Dare's dare.

Color Dare had quite a choice of colors in their Board last week and I used a selection of three for my first ingredient. I love layers so I had no difficulty in two layers and many more to enhance the recipe. My warm and cuddly image is my kitten... she's my cuddly kitten but she also has a second personality, mischievious.  My card fit the requirement for Double Dare's alternate challenge at Critter Crazy.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our challenge  requirement and play along with optional twists and dares while earning additional chances to our random draw. A Very Merry Christmas - Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge #660

Here is my Design Team card for Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge #660.  When this sketch came up I already knew my favorite snowflake die would be used. First, a cross-stitched border die was placed diagonally from top corner to the opposite bottom corner and cut to use as the division of the four panels. Then the snowflake die was cut on the same white cardstock in the center, bordered with Capri blue cardstock and then adhered to card base.

A friend of mine gave me this penguin stamp and it got buried in my stash. I was working on my inventory and came across this stamp and put it aside for one of my next Christmas cards... it was a nice fit for this sketch and hid the center messy cut from the die cuts. Hecter's presents and hat were colored using Copic sketch brushes using a match of the blues, fussy-cut and adhered with 3D thin foam tape over the snowflake.

I was not happy with a plain white background... so decided to randomly stamp snowflakes using the second generation stamping technique. This made me happy and it reflected the faded pattern as in the sketch.

A small sentiment was stamped with Black Memento Ink and some Bitty Sparkles placed around the snowflake.

Happy Birthday

Here is a birthday card, I hadn't shared yet, but made for my son awhile ago to give to his girlfriend... of course with some input of what he wanted.  As going through Paper Playful there was a flamingo image at A Place to Start "Use Pink" and decided to share this card. My son likes CAS cards that don't have a lot of layering and/or sentiments that are difficult to read, but I didn't fully listen in regard to layerin the corner flowers. He had picked out the sticker of a Flamingo from CTMH Deck the Palms paperpack and a background masculin pattened paper...I thought the background was too masculine and suggested another plain paper, which he left that up to me.

So, I tried to keep it simple but feminine, raised a few florals and the Flamingo for some dimension.  Sentiment was clear... job done.  CAS, questionable; but I did do a lot of fussy cutting of the corner floral from one of the design papers and adhered with 3D thin foam tape.  He was pleased with the card.

Color Dare #624 Four Square - Happy Bird-day

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #624 "Four Square" using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #600. My color choice was Bluebird, Rosy and Sundance.  As I was going through my stash I came across this cute chick stamp, excellent images for the circles from the sketch and the Sundance color of the chicks.

On white cardstock I stamped my three chicks using Mememto black ink and marked areas for placement of the circles (balloons) in comparison to the sketch. Using the chick stamp with balloon, stamped on patterned paper eight balloons, fussy-cut and adhered direct to white cardstock as previously marked.

Stamped the three chicks again on white cardstock, colored with Copic alcohol-base brushes, fussy-cut each chick without the legs and carefully adhered over the previously stamped images on the white cardstock lining up with the legs.

Using Heather Ink stamped a fencing image on the bottom of the same cardstock as the chicks. Another wood panel was cut for the rail and adhered on top of the stamped fence. A sentiment was stamped using another wood panel and bordered with Bluebird cardstock. The bow was replaced with another patterned balloon and drew in a bow and string, using Black Copic pen, from the balloon to the Sentiment.

On the inside of cardbase three more patterned balloons were used in a cluster at the bottom right-hand corner with hand-drawn strings.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #624 "Four Square" and select at least three of the colors from the Color Board. Check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Life is Messy, Friends Help - Color Dare #590 Triple Play

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #590 "Triple Play" wherein you MUST use all 3 colors, white, black and neutrals free. Decided to use the Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge #641.

Because the colors are pretty bold I thought Lagoon and Honey Butter would make a great background, kinda representing sun and sky. For my image chose the kitten with a ball of yarn to bring in the Clover color.

The two main patterned panels were cut with decorative die frames, the larger one bordered with Lagoon and adhered to card base.  The kittens were stamped with black ink, colored with gray neutrals except for the ball of yarn which was colored with Sketch pens closest to the CTMH Clover cardstock.

I had a squiggly die cut I placed under the kitten to show the unraveling of the yarn adhered direct on background along with one of the kittens and then adhered the kitten with ribbon with 3D thin foam tape for a little dimension. Picked one of the cute sentiments, bordered with Lagoon and adhered to background on a slant.

For the inside of the card I used the negative cut of the larger frame bordering along the right-hand side.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #590 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

I'm Lucky to Know You - Double Trouble #161 "Pinch Proof" partnering with Festive Friday

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble "Pinch Proof" using green and  Twisted Sister's optional twist to include a touch' o' gold and one other element from Festive Fridays Inspo List FF0154 "St Patrick's Day".  For the Festive Friday, you need only use three of their items from their Inspo List; but I was able to use Gold, Gold embellishments, Green, Clover, and Lucky sentiment, and it doesn't have to be a St. Patrick's Day card.

I had so much fun creating this card as I had just received my postage stamp die and was anxious to use it... I had a small container of St. Pattrick's Day papers and embellishments that pretty much had depleted over the years; but was surprised to find the patterned paper and thought it would be a good background. The image of the frog was also in the container and the balance of embellishments were from my new postage stamp set and two sentiments from Paper Smooches "A Magical Spring".

The frog was colored using Copic pens... unfortunately the dark green decided to leak and my fix was adding dots in lighter colors to compensate to change the color closer to the clover green in the background paper.  The pot of gold was filled using some tiny gold stickers that have been in my stash for years and never used.

The stamp die was cut two times, one in white cardstock, the second from the patterned paper, offset from one another to show the division of the stamps and give a more decorative border.  Used VersaMark for stamp images and sentiments and heat embossed with gold. The 50 cent was stamped using Mememto black ink. The layered postage stamp was adhered to another layer of Clover cardstock and adhered to card base.  Frog was adhered to postage die cut with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.

The inside of the card was based on the circular stamp under the frog "Hugs Inside". The clover is an svg image stamped with Paper Smooches sentiment, layered with Glover cardstock and adhered to inside of card.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble Challenge "Pinch Proof" and also our collaborating challenge at Festive Friday "St. Patrick's Day Inspo List #154" to check out the Design Teams inspirations... let us see what you create... hope to see you there.
