Miss You - Double Trouble Challenge #65 "Something, Anything, Everything"

Here is my Design Team Card for Double Trouble Challenge #65 "Something, Anything, Everything", and including Twisted Sister's optional Twist "include a phone", using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #383, a previous partner of Double Trouble. This is a sneak peek for one of the design papers (back and front) using the beautiful CTMH "Lovely" paperpack.

The design papers and zip strip were cut to close specification of the sketch and each layered with a thin border of Blue Belle (another sneak peak of the new colors available in September).

The adorable image was from a Copic Class attended back more than year ago which had never been colored.  It was perfect for the optional twist to "include a phone" for an extra chance at Double Trouble's random draw... and if it's not a cell phone you get another chance.

Colored the image, scanned/printed two additional copies and fussy-cut parts of the images and layered them with thin foam tape on each other for dimension.  Fussy-cut the phone base from the handset receiver and placed on prepared background with more thin foam tape for additional dimension.  Rather than cutting the phone cable from the image I simply drew a phone line from the receiver to the base.  To balance out the third window I decided to use the word bubble as my sentiment.  I was so pleased with the dimension and hope you can see it in my photos.

Channel the Flannel - Color Dare #408 TicTacToe

Here is my Design Team card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #408 "TicTacToe" using the CTMH Timber paper packet and using the Mojo Monday Sketch #543 and the theme of the Coffee Loving Cardmakers "Caffeine Fueled Paper Play". Of course I loved all the design papers in this packet so looked for a sketch that was flexible enough for me to use both sides of all papers... I did it.  Colors included in my project were the Left and Right Diagonals of TicTacToe.

Please pop over to ColorMyHeart Color Dare and Mojo Monday to see DT members' inspiration, along with other participants that have entered their challenge.

Color My Heart Color Dare challenges are carried forward for two weeks so if you didn't share your project the first week you still have another week to enter that challenge...current challenges are on the side bar of the blog.

Sorry You're Under the Weather - Color Dare #407

Here is my DT card for Color My Heart Color Dare #407 and partnering with Double Trouble Challenge  #64.  I already knew the stamp set I would use for a Get Well card and felt that the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #381 was perfect.

Chose colors that were soft and bright (Blossom and Bluebird) using several greys for borders and panels for my focal point. The umbrella was stamped in Heather and then stamped with Bluebird for the umbrella top. Using the light gray the outline of the sections were not very noticeable so I took a black multi-liner pen and drew the lines.

The center panel was cut with a combination of two stitched scalloped dies (Linen and Heather), and adhered to the soft pink design paper.  The umbrella was fussy-cut (forgetting that I had the thin dies), cut two sizes of clouds (one from the design paper, the other in Heather), and cut a linen banner layered with Heather stamped with a cloud and sentiment... these pieces were all adhered with 3D thin foam tape. Stamped in blue a few raindrops and added liquid glass to them for dimension.

Note:  This Double Trouble Challenge partnering is changing an earlier start date of Friday, August 14th to meet the same dates as Color Dare, and will be closing earlier on Thursday, August 27th.

You Make Me Happy When Skies Are Grey - Double Trouble Challenge #64

This is my DT card for the Double Trouble Challenge #64 "Let's Brighten the Day" and our partnering with ColorMyHeart Color Dare #407 "Color Palette" and using the fun sketch at  Try Stamping on Tuesday #469 along with their twist "make your background".

First started with TSOT's sketch (upside-down), stamped and masked several umbrellas on linen cardstock, using linen ink, to mimic the curve of the sketch.  My choice of two colors were pansy for the hearts and sea glass for the flowers on the outside of the umbrellas and added some waterdrops using linen ink.  Using the linen ink didn't show up the different sections of the umbrellas very well so I used a black multi liner pen and drew in the black lines. Also did a vellum strip with a heat embossed sentiment and clouds... this did not impress me at all with my umbrellas.

I was tired, it was late, my mind was blank, I began doubting whether I could pull this all together... so off to bed.

Our Little Crop Group gets together every Sunday with a Zoom Crop.  I shared my dilemma with our group that morning and Melanie (also a Design Team Member at Color Dare) suggested "turn my card right-side up, that shows the sketch better"; and she didn't stop there "wouldn't it be nice if you pop up some flowers in the umbrellas"  OMG why didn't I think of that.

I still wanted to keep the background with no other dimension... so I decided to change some of the waterdrops into flowers adding more flowers falling into the open umbrellas and colored them with Copic sketch pens in sea glass.  The balance of the waterdrops were colored in pansy.

The sentiment was added in the right-hand corner of the card.  I tried the wide strip of vellum again without a sentiment; but then decided just to do a thinner strip on linen cardstock.  Stamped a row of small clouds, layered with sea glass cardstock and adhered to the background with 3D thin foam tape.

Of course with each of these steps it was reviewed with the Our Little Group and there was still something missing.  The center of the flowers were left white... suggestions were tiny gems or Nuvo drops... did two samples, one with black center and another with a white center... voted black.  My dilemma was resolved thanks to Our Little Crop Group and I was pleased with the end result.

Color Dare #380 - Hello

Here is my DT card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #406 using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #380.  Knew the flower that I wanted to use and rather than using black as a silhouette it was stamped with sapphire ink on white cardstock.  Fussy-cut the flower on the edge of one side and layered with sapphire cardstock.

Decided to use a sapphire design paper for the background and then other design papers in Smoothie and Peach, all layered with white cardstock and placed on background paper and cardbase.  Completed card with two cuts of an oval die, layered and sentiment stamped with sapphire ink.

Please pop over to ColorMyHeart Color Dare and Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to see DT members' inspiration, along with other participants that have entered this challenge.

Dreams Live Here - Double Trouble Challenge "Dog Days of Summer"

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #63 "Dog Days of Summer" to include dry or heat embossing.  Twisted Sister also has an optional twist to include a dog or your favorite critter... and if you have included a "critter" you can enter your project in 2 Crafty Critter Crazies.

Doing some organization in my Craft Room I pulled out a container with many of my Copic Coloring Class stamp images that were either partially or fully colored but never completed as a card.  So I pulled this Whimsy "lazy cat" for the optional twist just needed to complete the coloring of the upper tree leaves and butterfly and assemble a card... so this made it a quick card to put together.

The paper selected already had a great sentiment on it which was perfect for lazy cat.  I used a Versamark pen to heat emboss the sentiment in princess gold, and also heat embossed a fishbowl as an embellishment for the right-hand corner of the card to balance the layout.

Please join us at Double Trouble "Dog Days of Summer" and if you want to use Twisted Sister's twist "dog or favorite critter" you can earn an extra chance at our random draw. And if you submit the same card to 2 Craftng Critter Crazies you have earned another chance at our random draw.

Please follow us on Double Trouble Challenge and receive notices of our new challenge on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, and if there is a 5th Monday we run a special one week challenge like this one for our "Something, Everything, Anything", which will be coming up the end of this challenge.
