Merry Christmas - MFT Sketch Challenge #668

Here is a Christmas card I made using the cool sketch at MFT Sketch Challenge #669 and knew the perfect die for the bottom swirl on sketch was a snowflake swirl die to represent hills of snow. Cut three snowflakes swirls using the blue Dream Makers patterned paper, adhered to white cardstock, and fussy-cut across top snowflake swirl.

Using the same patterned paper cut panel for background, layered with Toffee cardstock and adhered the snowflake swirls with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.

The reindeer peeking die was cut using the polka-dot patterned paper... and to bring out the detail from die edges were distressed with Toffee ink, Eyes, nose and detail scores on reindeer were colored with Copic Black Multi-liner and highlights in eyes using a white Gel pen. Reindeer was adhered under the top snowflake cut and adhered with glue and 3-D thin foam tape.  Sentiment was stamped using Toffee ink direct to background in upper R-H corner.

On the inside of the card base stamped snowflakes on the R-H border.

Happy Holidays - DTC Challenge #151 SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing

Here is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #151 "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" using Twisted Sister's optional twist to include at least one circle.  After completing the card I noted that the colors in the patterned papers were close to the colors in the ColorMyHeart Color Dare #572 (dark and light sides of Scarlet, Pine and Mink)... so I'm taking up Double Dare's Dare to enter my card as one of our previous partners at DTC.

In one of Double Trouble's previous challenges there was a card entered by Pinky's World "Spot the Circle" which was perfect for the optional twist for this new challenge. Here is Pinky's World Facebook tutorial link she provided... in 10 minutes you can create two backgrounds easily within that time and set aside to embellish later... so my backgrounds were for Christmas cards.

Background: Using a wacky stitched circle die I cut together two different complementary paper patterns catty-corner and then adhered one to a scarlet border and the other to a pine border. The opposite patterned paper circles were then placed on each corner.

Sentiment:  Using another patterned paper a rectangular wacky stitches die was cut, sentiment stamped with VersaMark and then heat embossed (one with silver, the other with princess gold) and adhered with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.

Embellishments:  In addition to using die cut circles both patterns had circles and/or dots. In one of the patterned papers there were pine needles and in my stash I had a Pine Needle Shoots die... cut several sizes of pine needles and adhered embellishments in and around the sentiment. Red Duvo drops were used to add a berry to the smaller pine cones on sentiment.  On the inside of each card I used one of the zip strips from the paperpack with a border of the corresponding cardstock.

Please hop on over to Double Trouble and check out our Design Team's inspiration and then let us see what you create... and what previous partner you are sharing your card with.

Greetings - BYSHC Sketch #38 using Color Dare #572 "Lucky 7"

This is my second card using Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers (BYSHC) Sketch #38... this time found the sketch easier to work with after seeing other participants interpretation of the sketch.  CTMH "Home for Christmas" paperpack matching up with Color Dare Challenge #572 using all colors in the "Lucky 7"  Board. I followed real close to the measurements provided and was real pleased that everything came together... another card to put in my stash for 2023 holidays.

Fussy-cut one of the poinsettias from the patterned paper, adhered to scarlet cardstock and again fussy-cut leaving a shadow around the poinsettia. Flower was  cut between each flower leaf, adhered the smaller flower leave to the stitched circle and other leaves were curled up with bone folder for dimention.  On the inside a piece of the plaid patterned paper layered with green cardstock was adhered to the bottom border.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #572 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Zooming By... Color Dare Challenge #572 "Lucky 7"

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare Challenge #572 "Lucky 7" using the CTMH Paperpack "Home For Christmas" combined with Sketch Saturday Challenge #737.  Love the traditional colors in this CTMH paperpack and Pawliday Express stamps images are perfect for thiis sketch.  I liked the simplicity of the sketch and stayed pretty much within the cuts and shapes... one more Christmas card to be put in my stash for 2023 holidays.

For the inside of the card, images from the same stamp set were stamped along the r-h border and colored with pencil.

Merry Christmas - AHSC #547

My focus for the next few weeks will be on Christmas cards to add to my stash of 2023 Christmas cards. This week I am using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #547.

Selected the CTMH Home For Christmas paperpack, selected three of the patterned papers, made several cuts with my new slim stripes die and adhered with two sided tape on a background of Pine cardstock layered with Scarlet. These slim stripe cuts were easy to apply and randomly cut to different lengths.

The sentiment Merry Christmas was cut using white cardstock, adhered to Scarlet cardstock layered with Pine.  May do another card with the next size slim stripes.

Used some of the left-over stripes on the inside of the card along the r-h border.

Please hop on over and join us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #547, check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Double Trouble #150 - The Crafter's Cafe "Flowers"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #150 "Fancy Florals" and asking you to leave those patterned papers in their comfy little storage... skip  the patterned papers altogether, create a card using florals and share with our challenge partner at The Crafter's Cafe "Flowers".  Twisted Sister wanted us to include an insect to earn an additional chance in DTC's random draw.

Thus went to my stash of unfinished Copic Class Images which we attended quite frequently at a local scrapbook store with Instructor Jennifer Dove.  Remembered an image of a bee sitting among flowers which fit so well with this challenge... plus the colors were perfect for the ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge #569 "Shades of Red, Orange and Yellow) using all three colors.

My Bee coloring had been completed but only one of the flowers and one of the leaves were inked with colors not included in board; so applied the handy blender to remove as much of the color as possible and re-colored with acceptable colors in the Color Dare Board.

Since patterned papers were not allowed decided on a border of yellow cardstock and cut a die with stitched sun rays and then adhered to the card base. The shadowing around the image was Copic brush streaks using sparingly a good match of the yellow border.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble and our partner for this challenge The Crafter's Cafe to check out the Design Teams inspiration.  We are looking forward to seeing the creative ways you make your floral(s) stand out without using patterned papers... hope to see you there.

Color Dare's Color Board #569 may be your desired colors too... check out their Design Team projects for inspiration also.

Thank you - Color Dare Challenge #570 "Four Square"

Mixed media and Junk Journal pages have been an interest for some time; but not something in my comfort zone.  But wait... a Junk Journal is a handmade book using any items from your stash. The pages can be used to write, draw, paint or record memories, thoughts, ideas, and inspiration. The finished junk journal can become anything you want.  So, I decided my first Junk Journal page was going to be experimenting with mixed media.

There were a couple of entries in our Double Trouble Challenges that caught my attention (Donna Walls and Ellibelle's Corner) which inspired me to use a stamp  similar to the ones they used (CTMH September Stamp of the Month). However, they didn't end up in a Junk Journal because I used one of my experiments for my Design Team project at Color Dare Challenge #570 "Four Square" using closest to all four colors in color board.  As Donna would say some experiments could start out as a "hmmmm" and transform into a yummm card with a second thought or change.

Used primarily patterned papers from the Color Board for the base of stenciling, variety of full or partial stencils, inks closest to match of Color Board and stamps from the September SOTM. Took a close look on all my experiments... chose this card as my "yummm" card and the others went into my stash as a "hmmmm" card or possibly future journal pages... it was fun experimenting.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #570 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

FarmQuest Country Christmas Guest Designer "There's No Place Like Gnome"

I am so excited to be a Guest Designer for FarnQuest Country Christmas Challenge" for their opening Challenge #1 "Anything Goes Country Christmas". Here is my card using Sketch #38 from BYSHC (Build Your Stash Holiday Challenge) and the theme at Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #22 to include a Gnome along with Coffee theme.

Using a black cardstock for border of the brick background was perfect for an outdoor affect. For the three of the four panels across the top used three Gnomes, sized, printed and cut with Brother Scan 'n Cut.  A second cut for each image using black cardstock was adhered to each image and used for the separation in sketch of each panel.  Images were colored with Copic brush pens using a variety of many colors.  The tree was stamped, fussy cut, die cut for shadow, colored with Copic and for the snow on the tree it was Gelly Roll "White" with Wink of Stella added. All images were adhered direct or using 3D thin foam tape.

For the circle element I chose a snowflake die cut using colonial white for a closer match to the mortar between the bricks.  The sentiment panel was cut with the same background paper, stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with colonial white and adhered direct to background with two other snowflakes to the right.  Wink of Stella was added to all snowflakes and the sentiment panel.

I was pleased with my interpretation of the sketch and hope you were too. Shortly the card be sent from my Gnome to another Gnome for Christmas.

For the inside of card, I had a little piece of the brick wall paper left over and adhered to the bottom.

Check out the DT cards at FarmQuest Country Christmas here and help celebrate their first challenge... hope to see you there.

Double Trouble Challenge #149 "Scrapper's Trick and Treat"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble Challenge #149 "Scrapper's Trick & Treat". The Trick was creating a technique background... my Trick was brush ink blending over a tree stencil and then coloring the tree in black... and my Treat is an awesome background.  The stencil was also a Treat... I was one lucky winner randomly picked at the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #19 "Stars" and received a store credit to A Colorful Life Designs and this stencil was one of my picks!

The slimline stenciled background was cut and bordered with black cardstock. A purple wacky frame was also cut and bordered with black cardstock... and all layers were adhered to card base.

Twisted Sister wants us to dress up our background using Halloween images (cute or spooky) and join a Halloween Party at one of these parks... either at Disney's sweet "Not so Scary" or Universal Studios spooky "Horror Night".  I chose to do a combination of sweet and spooky so I could attend both parties...lol.

Found in my stash a cute pup dressed up as a mummy and on the left-hand bottom corner of the card base adhered with 3-D thin foam tape. Cut a couple Boo sentiments with purple and white cardstock, layered and glued to stenciled background among the branches. From the same Paper Smooches die set "Halloween Icons" instead of using the Explanation point I substituted with a small ghost.  Also cut a spooky but cute spider, adhered to the bottom r-h corner and hand-drew a spider web from the branch.

On the inside of the card, r-h border, adhered half a web-like doily from my stash.

Please hop on over to Double Trouble  and check out the Design Teams inspiration and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Also, if you have met Thing 1's requirement to create your own background and have dressed up your background with Halloween images, you are eligible to enter your project HERE at Park Hopping, My Happy Place Challenge.  Let them know what party you will be attending Disney "Not So Scary" or Universal "Halloween Horror Night".
