Anything is Possible - AHSC #214

My card this week as Design Team Member for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #214. Join this challenge...you have until Sunday, June 4th to enter your project.

The design team reveal for this sketch will be on Wednesday, so be sure to stop by to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team and other entrant inspirations for this challenge...and stop by every Monday for new sketches. Don't wait for the DT post to create your project...show us up with your artwork.

This weekend we had one of the ladies from Our Little Crop Group show us some of the tangles...what a fun time.  Please meet Jean Chaney and her artwork at Tangle Street Studio and the Zentangle results of our fun class.

We learned several tangles and I tried to incorporate them into a focal point for the AHSC, but just learned that I was creating a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Card). The inside may be more related to Zentangle, correct me if I'm wrong Jean. Found some retired Paper Fundamentals (Basic-Black) which went well with the Zentangle.

Also did my own sentiment using Brush Lettering, a class we took awhile ago...it shows me I need a little more practice on both...and the sentiment was so fitting for my experiment with Tangles.

Jean, help me here too...since I may be tested on this, these are the tangles that I used
Center of Flowers and Dragonfly's head - Printemps.
Flowers and Wings of Dragonfly - Crescent Moon and Aura
Stems - Mirror and Perfs
Leaves - Bales
Ground - Tipple
Sentiment is Brush Lettering

The Inside were the following tangles
Tipple, Knight's Bridge, Crescent Moon and Static

Oh My Happy - Color Dare #245

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #245: This week we are challenging you to use the color palette from the "Little Dreamer" paper pack. Our usual challenge is to use (All and Only) the featured colors, however, eight colors to combine are quite a challenge! So, for this challenge we are asking you to use at least 4 of the colors (excluding the neutrals) without adding new colors from the Little Dreamer palette: Blossom, Glacier, Lagoon, Lemon, Tangerine, Thistle with White Daisy and Black. Of course if you don’t have these CTMH colors yet you may substitute similar colors so you can still join in all the fun.

Reminder:  Click on side bars for SNEAK PEEKS for future May color challenges so you can plan ahead...and full month of May "Live Beautifully" Challenge at Color Dare.  Also, join the Buddy Program, and help your Buddy enter a project as well.

This week's Color Dare challenge was combined with the MoJo Monday Sketch Challenge #498. The design papers selected already had all the colors from the challenge so it as an easy choice. As an embellishment to the top of the card I cut out a corner of the circle paper and stamped a Sentiment right on the design paper.  My daughter got me a few dies for Mother's Day and this Magical Butterfly was just right for the round focal point.

Get Ready for Christmas - Crafting By Design

Crafting By Designs
"Get Ready for Christmas"

Hi, my name is Suzanne Reynolds and I am originally from Buffalo, New York; however moved to the Sunshine State of Arizona eleven years ago.  Papercrafting was not new to me; but with retirement almost five years ago I really stepped up it up primarily in card making.  My style and creativity came from entering the many different  challenges, rewarded with invites as a Guest Designer, and  currently Design Team Member of several  challenges… I found my new niche.  Thank  you  Crafting By Design for honoring me as a Guest Designer for your Challenge.

This card was made from a retired CTMH Design PaperPack "White Pines" which was a favorite of mine and because it was a favorite, ordered too many packets and still have one packet in my stash.   This is one of my first Christmas cards made this year with this PaperPack but you will see others come across in future challenges for my 2017 Christmas Cardmaking.

Using a variety of design papers, a lot of dies, and layering made it easy to put together a pretty sketch/layout.

Thinking of You - AHSC #213

My card this week as Design Team Member for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #213. Join this challenge...you have until Sunday, May 28th to enter your project.

The design team reveal for this sketch will be on Wednesday, so be sure to stop by to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team and other entrant inspirations for this challenge...and stop by every Monday for new sketches. Don't wait for the DT post to create your project...show us up with your artwork.

Wow, this seems like an easy sketch...but many things went through my mind...why not gears/sprockets for a masculine card.

On the Cuttlebug cut two of the large sprockets on the bottom corner of an A2 size of cardstock.  Placed the balance of the sprockets randomly on the same A2 cardstock and using the foam plate ran through the Cuttlebug for embossing the sprockets, repeated a couple of the sprockets to fill in background.  Swiped goldrush and chocolate inks across the full card. Cut one more small sprocket for the sprockets in the bottom corner.

The two corner sprockets were adhered with 3D Thin Foam Tape, and the largest sprocket and the background glued directly to black cardstock.   Went to Cricut to see what they had for sentiments and found a freebie of Thinking of You with sprockets around it...exactly what I wanted.

For the Inside of the card, my first couple experiments for the corner sprocket was just one of the larger ones so swiped these with inks and used on the inside of my card...they looked so much nicer on the card then in my wastebasket.

Hello - H2H May - Wk 4 "Ribbon"

H2H May - 4th Week "Ribbon"
Hostess:  Sue Bruch

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!  This week Team Ruby is inviting you to create something awesome with ribbon.  Ribbon can be one of the best options for adding color and texture to your design.   No ribbon...no problem...how about using a ribbon stamp to accent your card or layout?  So many possibilities!

Join us at Heart2Heart this week and other challenges in May... Remember you have all month to create to be eligible for recognition as one of the Top 10 "Darlings".  AND if you create a project for each challenge in the month of May, you will earn a badge as an H2H Addict for Perfect Attendance.

Looked on YouTube for an idea how to use ribbons and I came across Diane's tutorial "Christmas Cards Using Ribbon Scraps" and used a similar layout and selected a couple ribbons that went with Live Beautifully Design Paper.

Under the smaller panel, looped the ribbon and taped on the bottom half of the panel, added the same ribbon across the top, added some gold a'peel stickers to the ribbon and adhered finished panel with 3D thin Foam tape to my background paper.  In my stash had a couple of floral bouquets previously cut and adhered with 3D foam tape.

Die-cut the butterfly, one in design paper and the other in sea glass cardstock, adhered the bottom layer to card, curved the wings on the other and adhered loosely to the top of the other butterfly.  Die-cut the sentiment, layered and adhered directly to panel.

Magical You - Color Dare #244

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #244: This week’s colors shown in the Photo are Glacier, Canary, Juniper, Thistle, White Daisy and Black - Optional: Silver.  Some of these colors are used in the CTMH Little Dreamer Paper Pack.

We encourage you to use CTMH products; however you may use any products to participate using closest to colors.  Join the fun.

Reminder:  Click on side bars for SNEAK PEEKS for future May color challenges so you can plan ahead...and full month of May "Live Beautifully" Challenge at Color Dare.  Also, join the Buddy Program, and help your Buddy enter a project as well.

Above is the original for the Color Challenge; but I needed the Unicorns for more magic for a birthday card to my Grand-Daughter which had colors outside of the challenge.  Below is the finished card for her birthday.

Chose one of the PML Cards from Little Dreamer PaperPack and die cut a stitched circle around the Sentiment and layered with black cardstock and fussy-cut. Because I used the Design Paper with the rainbow and clouds...thought it would be a good mix to use my rainbow die with canary and glacier and the die cut (2) clouds from Cricut, layered all on black cardstock and fussy-cut.

Each of the different panels were adhered with 3D Thin Foam Tape, and used Zig's Clear Wink of Stella on the clouds and sentiment.  Die cut some tiny hearts from silver glitter sheet to the upper corner and one on each of the clouds.  Use some of the rainbow strips that were left over and added a zip strip to the edge of the inside of the card. Added a pocket for birthday money gift.

Being an Arizonian, I thought what better than to show my life starting off with a cup of coffee while sitting in our backyard patio looking at all the cacti ... and believe me we have a lot to look at because my husband loves playing around with the landscaping.  Loving the design papers in this pack but chose to use a couple of the Picture My Life cards for the two stitched panels and then one of the design papers for the background.  This has started my day off, and now off to other business.

Transparencies/Rub-On's - AHSC #212

While sorting through some of my CTMH complements I came across a very old Stampin' Up assortment of transparencies/rub-on's and the images were perfect for this sketch.  So, it created a very pretty card (any occasion) and used up some of my old stash.

The flowers are also rub-ons which I cut and adhered with 3D Foam Tape for dimension. This card was fast and fun to work with different images to bring the sketch together.

On the inside...more rub-on's at the bottom corner.

You Mean So Much To Me - Color Dare #243

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #243: This week’s colors shown in the Photo are Blossom, Raspberry, Lagoon, White Daisy and Black - Optional: Silver.  Some of these colors are used in the CTMH Little Dreamer Paper Pack.

We encourage you to use CTMH products; however you may use any products to participate using closest to colors.  Join the fun.

The Outlawz - Sunday "Clean and Simple"  was a limited supplies challenge - stamp your own background (either with a large background stamp or lots of smaller stamps), use a sentiment and one embellishment ... so that's what I did using the Color Dare's palette.

Had seen a tutorial a couple weeks ago on a technique using an overlay and stamping How to do the Double Masking Stamping Technique" by Sandi Maclver.  The tutorial was coloring, but I chose to use solid stamps for the coloring.

Made my first mask using variable size circle dies from Journey, placed dies on white cardstock and ran it through my Cuttlebug.  Placed this mask over another piece of white cardstock and started randomly stamping with the ink colors in the Color Dare palette and masked where needed.

Next time I do this technique I will probably make the first mask out of tablet paper, as I do with other masking images so the impressions come out closer to the mask ... I had a little bit of touch-up to do on a couple of the  flowers.  I love the affect of the imaginary circles around the florals.

Stamped in the sentiment, and use a silver heart embellishment next to the sentiment.

Clean & Simple isn't always simple, but it sure makes a pretty card...and the only layering is my black border.
