Comfort Pillows for Physically Challenged

My daughter-in-law has worked many years as a Teacher's Aide for the Mentally and Physically Challenged children, one-on-one and in a class setting.  Last year she worked in a class setting and asked if I could make some rice pillows, known as Therapy Lap Pads used for people with ADD/ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Alzheimer's Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Autism, Anxiety Disorders and Insomnia. These rice pillows are placed on their laps and they find comfort in these.

Had no problem finding materials, just needed to make the first experimental pillow to see how I would put them together.  First made an insert to contain the rice, but when rice was put in the sack it would fall to the end.  Removing the rice, I stitched the decorative pillow at one of the ends, then stitched a line approximately every 3 1/2", leaving an area open on each stitch line so I could easily pour in the rice with a funnel, one section at a time, and then stitched the balance of the stitch line.

Pulled the design pillow over the rice filled pillow and stitched them together.
