Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Hop

This is a card I made for the 2021 Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Hop using the colors from ColorMyHeart Color Dare #436 "TicTacToe" and combining it with the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #498 Chose a tea cup die and cut it with one of the design papers from the CTMH Daisy Meadows.  The images, flowers and eggs were fussy cut from the same design paper and adhered with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.  A border die was used for the lace and the eggs replaced the bow in the sketch.  Two mint embellishments were added to the left-hand upper corner.

Please visit Coffee Lovers Hop, ColorMyHeart Color Dare and Try Stampin' on Tuesday for inspiration and create something for Spring/Summer.  Looking forward to seeng what you have created.

Some Bunny Loves You - Color My Heart Color Dare #436

Here is my Design Team Card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #436 "TicTacToe" which is the Color Palette for Daisy Meadows CTMH paperpack and I chose to use all the colors.  The Sketch used is from Heart2Heart and perfect for a variety of design papers.

The floral design paper was used for my background, the other panels were cut to size using one of the other design papers and zip strips and placed as in the sketch.  The bunny in the basket and flowers were all fussy-cut from another design paper and adhered to the panels with 3D thin foam tape. Finished with a sentiment stamped in black in the upper left-hand corner.

Sending You Get Well Wishes - AHSC #412

I love this stamp set from CTMH and just needed to create a card. The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #412 was perfect for my butterfly.

Aside from coloring more time was spent on getting a good full print of all the detail.  Stamping with Versa Mark you can't really see whether it's covering all the detail until you shake on the  embossing powder to see some detail missing. Not sure whether this is a defect in the stamp or my stamping.  Misti or a brush for even pressure, nothing worked.

After several attempts, and being persistent, I stamped it again (3 times using the Misti) and Memento "Black" ink so I could clearly see all the detail, let it dry and then stamped with Versa Mark.  When the heat embossing was completed if embossing powder was lacking it didn't show because of the black stamping.

Usually I'll pick out my paper before coloring my image for a closer match of colors but had decided I would use a white background with a black strip.  So picked up my Sketch brush pens and completed the coloring of the butterfly and then fussy-cut.  Unintentionally I put it down on the plaid that was sitting on my desk from Daisy Meadows paperpack which I had just used on a previous card... it made me happy.

Now, I wasn't undecided of the solid black strip... so went to my border dies and found a die that wasn't solid and decided to tone down the black and cut one in the Peacock color that was in the plaid and another cut in yellow... made me happier.  Stamped the sentiment on white cardstock, layered with peacock, and also layered my plaid with peacock and assembled on my card base.  And unusual for me; no thin 3D foam tape used and still pleased with the demension.

Create Your Own Magic - Double Trouble Challenge #79 "A Magical Day"

This is my Design Team Card for Double Trouble Challenge #79 "A Magical Day" partnering with Dies R Us, using at least one steel die.  I was also able to include this in ColorMyHeart Color Dare's Challenge #435 "Green + 1 Color... I chose blue as my additional color.

Before the Pandemic I attended many of the Copic classes offered at our local scrapbook store given by Jennifer Dove. I knew the magic I wanted to create so went to my Copic cards that were not completed and chose one of the Wizard cards.  Her kits include all the pieces for her design... however I like to make it my own layout and choose only to use some of the items so that it's not the same as those attending the class.

The Wizard frame was cut using a Square Stiched Die.  I needed to complete the coloring of the frame and wizard, and then choose some patterned paper and embellishments. In CTMH Mix-In I found a perfect green plaid match for my background and layered it on black cardstock, added the stars and sentiment and done.  I have two more wizards that I need to complete so you may see them later this year.

At Double Trouble Our Things 1, 2 and 3 sure bring on some wierd combinations but I like to challenge them all; however, you have the flexibility of doing just Thing 1 "A Magical Day" and be eligible for our random draw.

For those that really like more of a challenge may want to include Twisted Sister's optional twist and/or enter at our partner's challenge if you have met their requirement... and you will be rewarded additional chances for the random draw. Please join us at Double Trouble Challenges.

Please check the ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge #345  for their DT inspiration and other entrants to their challenge too.

Happy Birthday To You - Color Dare Challenge #434

Here is my DT card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare "Love of Color" choosing Canary, Sage and Grape for my colors and combining it with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #410.  There were so many colors to choose from for a Spring card.  My card was totally die cuts and patterned papers and the sketch made it very easy how to place them.

You Put the Sunshine in my Day - Double Trouble Challenge #78 "Wearin' o' the Green"

Here is my DT for Double Trouble's "Wearin' o' the Green" Challenge and what a fun optional twist to include plaid in your project so that you can also enter your project at Use Your Stuff "Plaid".

I'm going back to my Jennifer Dove's Copic Class inventory to find an image with a lot of green and put a card together.  The kit included all the parts for my card and with some minor cutting changes my layout was very similar to the one provided.  So, this card only took me less than half an hour to create, but that doesn't include the time spent on the coloring.  Used distressing around the image and sentiment, wrapped twine around the card around the layers and completed using liquid glass to the raindrops.

At Double Trouble Our Things 1, 2 and 3 sure bring on some wierd combinations but I like to challenge them all; however, you have the flexibility of doing just Thing 1 to use green in your project and be eligible for our random draw.

To a Special Friend - ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge #432

Change to Original Submission:  After looking at my card against the inspiration photo, I realized that I wanted a more glassy look like Chihuly's glass art... so I decided to clear emboss the background with clear glass.  I did the inside edge to see if it would look more like glass, and then proceeded with the front.  Of course this would have been a lot easier before mounting the wobble spring images.  And then added glitter pen to the images... now am I happier with the result... well if I'm not happy with it... it's too late now.

This photo shows more of the shine because the light directly on the card; but it shows the texture and the look of glass.

If you have not seen a Chihuly glass art display this photo is his glass art.  My first thought was to print the Inspiration Board and increase the size for a background for my card; however was concerned whether that would be breach of copywrite.

However, my neighbor had a stamp set which she hadn't used yet and she happened to have it in front of her during our Zoom.  When I saw it, it didn't take me long to see the vision of my Chihuly-like background and didn't take me long to take possession of it... along with a variety of colors of her distress oxide inks that I didn't have.

You know how much I love layers... well, my colors were a bunch of layers of different colors and combinations of the spiffy spots, quite time-consuming but fun.  Now it didn't look quite like Chihuly's glass art; but it was my scrap art and loved the result.

Background done, now what... as I was going through my more recent CTMH stamps I came across the puppy and kitten with their back to me... perfect.  Stamped two each of the puppy and kitten; colored and texturized each in full and only the tail on the other.  Used the technique for the furry look on both puppy and kitten, then used thin die to cut one set and fussy-cut the tails only on the other set.  Tails were adhered to puppy and kitten with 3D thin foam tape a little bit off to make an attempt to make it look like they were wagging their tail in the excitement.  And for more excitement I attached them to a wobble spring.

The sentiment on the bottom was initially inked onto the background; but it wasn't readable because it smudged when the card moved in my Misti.  So, I just stamped some more spiffy spots in CTMH colors, stamped on the sentiment, layered with black cardstock and adhered with 3D thin foam tape.  The upper sentiment was stamped directly onto the backgroud.

Take Me Gnome Country Road - Color Dare Challenge #430

Here is my Design Team Card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #430 "TicTacToe" and using the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #491.  The Slimline card sketch was perfect for my new stamp set of Country Road Gnomes.  The dies came with the gnomes; but the little country road stamps were fussy-cut.  Pulled out my Copic Sketch Pens and had fun trying to match some of the colors from the TicTacToe Board (used all but Nectarine).

The background paper was chosen for the design that looked like a map of more country roads.  Played around with positioning them, and when I found the correct balance with the sketch they were adhered with two-sided tape and foam tape for dimension to the background paper.  Used another design paper for the side borders.  Sentiment was stamped, colored and layered with the same design paper.

Lots of Love For You - Double Trouble #76 "

This is my design team card for Double Trouble Challenge #76 "Recipe 3-2-1" (see below), using the Twisted Sister's optional twist "include a heart and/or expression of Love" and partnering with Heart2Heart "All You Need is Love"

THING 1: Trouble Maker
says, "Help us stir up some trouble with a Recipe that can be used for any occasion."
From:       Our Kitchen at Double Trouble
Servings:  Unlimited Portions of Fun
Recipe:     3-2-1 Recipe
Ingredients:
     3  Embellishments
     2  Patterned Papers
     1  Stamped or Digital Image
Directions: To enhance your recipe you may use more than the recipe ingredients stipulated but you must include at least the required minimum of each ingredient for successful results.

The colors at ColorMyHeart Color Dare #429 and the sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #406 were perfect for a Valentine's Day card.

While going through my stash I came across a stamp set purchased a couple years ago and it was beckoning me to use it, and my die for a tag was conviently nearby.  The sketch showed 3 embellishments (also in the 3-2-1 recipe) so now all i needed were my two design papers to complete the recipe.  Chose two papers with Ballerine and then Mint and French Vanilla cardstock for framing and my image. Recipe and all optional twists were completed... and I was happy with my Valentine Day card.

At Double Trouble Our Things 1, 2 and 3 sure bring on some wierd combinations but I like to challenge them all; however, you have the flexibility of doing just Thing 1 "Double Trouble Recipe 3-2-1" and be eligible for our random draw.
