Color Dare #608 Fancy Five - Hello

Here is my Design Team card for Color Dare #608 "Fancy Five".  You only need to select three colors from the Color Board; but you can choose more as long as they are on the board.  I chose Mulberry, Mist, Seabrook and Honey Butter and Cocoa for my neutral.

I had just bought this adorable gnome die set and the Honey Butter casrdstock was perfect for the big sunflower, the Mulberry cardstock (light and dark sides) were used for the face and hands, shoes in black and her outfit cut from a patterned paper in Seabrook. Mist cardstock used for the floral stem. All pieces were cut and assembled using both glue and 3D thin foam tape for some dimension.

In Storybook paperpacks there was a pretty Mist patterned paper for my background, bordered with Mist cardstock and adhered to the cardbase. The gnone was added to the background paper using glue, decided to cut a bow out of Mist.  Since the gnome took a good portion of the A2 card a small "hello" die was cut two times using Honey Butter, stacked and adhered on background in upper left-hand corner, the only likely space available.

For the inside of the card added another sunflower on the bottom corner.

TSOT Challenge 650 - Love You Much

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch On Tuesday #650. While going through my inventory of my stash this cherry blossom stamp caught my attention because it reminded me of the shape of the postion of the circles in this sketch. Then the circles reminded me of a spotlight technique and thought using vellum behind the image would have that affect.

The only other thing I had to figure out was the background and the panel with the sentiment.  When I have a card planned out and not all the pieces together I'll usually go in another direction;  but, not with this one, I just needed to press on and the balance of the sketch will come in place... and guess what it did.

Much to my surprise the circles were exactly in the sizes needed so these were cut using a pink vellum. Cherry Blossom branch was stamped in Memento London Fog, colored with a Copic sketch pens, fussy cut and then adhered to the circles only to solidify the position of the circles until I knew what I was doing with my background and sentiment panel.

Off to my stash again, selected a Mix-in patterned paper in Mink for the background and then bordered with Ballerina pink cardstock. Okay, now the panel and sentiment... instead of using another patterned paper I dug into my stash and chose a soft pink shimmer trim, cut narrower and adhered top and bottom of what would have been the panel. Adhered the circle/blossom piece on the patterned paper.

Wanted more dimension so stamped another branch, colored and fussy-cut the flowers in the two middle circles and adhered with 3D thin foam tape.

Oh, oh, not much room for a sentiment but I found one that filled the area nicely. But before stamping directly on card I used vellum on top of the card to see how it fit best.

Thought I was done until I noticed I somehow smudged the upper right-hand corner telling me that space needed something to balance the card.  Using a hole punch cut three circles from the pink shimmer trim, placed them over the smudges and added liquid glass.

On the inside right-hand corner of card base cut two more Vellum Circles and stamped one of the florals from the same stamp set, colored, fussy-cut and adhered on top of the circles.

Please hop over to Try A Sketch on Tuesday to see their Design Team members inspiration and let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Double Trouble #170 partnering with Park Hopping, My Happy Place

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble #170 "YOU-nique Technique" and partnering with Park Hopping, My Happy Place "July".  Thing 1 Trouble Maker wants you do use embossing "Dry or Heat" and/or stenciling on your project.

Thing 3 Twisted Sister wants you to consider using some water and/or theme park experience.  My initail thought was using a tube stamp I used several years ago for one of the water experiences; but I couldn't find my tube.  So my water experience went in the direction of Seaworld for the Orca (killer whale) experience.  If you want a splash of water to cool you off for the rest of the day sit in the first couple rows at the Orca experience.

Using Lagoon ink I blended the background with a wave stencil, then used a cracked glass embossing folder to give it dimension and bordered with Lagoon cardstock.  Stamped, colored and used dies to cut the whales and fishies. Stamped sentiment on white cardstock, bordered with Lagoon cardstock and added the little fishies with 3D thin foam tape.  The inside of the card, stamped the right-hand bottom of the card base with waves and fishies.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble's "YOU-nique Technique" and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

And add some fun and join Park Hopping, My Happy Place and include some water experience and earn additional chances to our random draw.
