A Little Birdie Told Me

This card was made for Heart 2 Heart Challenge "Favorite Paper Pak." and what a difficult decision this was, however, for today's choice "Penelope."

Story:  My children would ask me who their favorite was...my response "You're my favorite daughter" (I only have one daughter); however, I had two sons so my response would be "You're my favorite youngest son" and "You're my favorite oldest son".  And this carries on for my grandchildren too...luckily we don't have a big family.  When my children would draw pictures they would ask which was my favorite...again my response would be "I don't have a favorite, they are all beautiful drawings."  Still today my adult children try to trick me into a favorite, and they don't get any different response. I love them all, and they are my favorites.

I couldn't even decide on a particular pattern from "Penelope" Paper Pak so I decided to cut 1/2" strips of each paper, one from each side and also used the zip strips, and adhered them to a 12 x 12 white daisy cardstock.  Cut the background panel 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 from my decorated cardstock, and then die-cut the frames using Pretty Posh stitched and scalloped rectangular stackables.  I made sure that I followed the same pattern for each frame.  Frames were adhered with 3D Regular and Thin Foam Tape.

This is a closer view of the focal point.  Vellum was used in the center frame to make it softer and appear as you were looking through a window.  The sentiment was stamped on the vellum. Stamped a couple of birdiess on design paper, fussy-cut and adhered to the widow frames. Stamped a couple sets of balloons with ink, fussy-cut and set behind Birdie as he was holding behind his back, and added liquid glass for shine and dimension.

This is so adorable! I love the softness created by the vellum and the fussy cut birds are just the perfect touch, holding the balloons. The story reminds me of my own childhood and trying the get my father to answer that very same question... Great card :)

This is very sweet and fun card Sue. The pattern is very beautiful and the image is too cute! Your story make me giggle. I guess we all ask our parents those questions sometime in our life. Mine still young so I get those questions at least once a week and I would response "you all my favorite. I love you equally. All your arts are beautiful. I don't have a favorite." Haahaa. Thanks for sharing the story and another beautiful card inspiration Sue. Have a lovely weekend!

Hugs, Christina
