Happy Valentine's Day #3

This card was inspired by the Freebie Progressive Challenge Digital Image "58 Cabbage Roses" By SandiSamples" for January 2015 at The Outlawz Challenges.  The image was colored with alcohol-base pens, fussy-cut and then adhered to the stitched heart which was layered on the background paper.

My first Christmas Card in 2016, and was created by inspiration from Heart2Heart Challenge - Monday, January 11, 2016 "Frozen."

Found this free Penguin Digi on my computer so thought this would be a good image to represent frozen.  Image was sized, printed and colored, fussy-cut and then adhered with 3D Thin Foam Tape to the scene I put together with embossed snowflakes, stitched dies for snow hills and framed with clouds on top.

ABC A 75th Birthday Celebration

This Scrapbook page will be entered in the Heart2Heart Challenge - Monday, January 25, 2016, "It is  all about the ABC's".  Used the same colors in the Scrapbook Page as I did in the birthday card and the card will be a page in the Scrapbook.

Another milestone...at our age each year is a milestone and look forward to many more. Yesterday,   January 30th, was my husband's 75th Birthday...we have known each other for over 55 years.  We raised 3 children back in Angola NY, and now as adults we all reside in Arizona within 2-20 miles from each other.  We are lucky to have 5 Grandchildren in the family...2 reside in Arizona.  The other three grandchildren...2 are near/in Buffalo NY and 1 outside of Washington DC...but we are blessed with their occasional visits to Arizona.  Our gatherings are small, but none-the-less we have fun celebrations and usually capture them pretty good in pictures.

TRIVIA:  What do you think?

Our family photographer, my daughter, left her camera home, so these pictures were taken with her IPhone.  I was so busy looking for a candle that I didn't think to give her my camera...but they all turned out...in fact interesting trying to determine whether the rays are the flashlight, candle or lighter.  Of course we interrupted his first attempt to blow out the finally lit candle to sing our usual "very out of tune" Happy Birthday. Everyone has their own rendition, but we manage to get through at least the first verse and sometimes go to the second.  My Dad always said "Our family can't carry a tune in a basket" but we sure tried. While we were all laughing so hard after the song, Grandpa blew out the candle, but it wasn't captured in a picture.

Sweethearts Happy Valentine's Day #2

Welcome to this week's Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #178. Please head over and check out the other Design Team inspirations and join us in this week’s challenge using the colors in photo. You have until Thursday, February 4, 2016 to create and link up your project…looking forward to seeing your inspirations for this color challenge...great colors for Valentine's Day cards.

A couple weeks ago at a Crop we got some Sweetheart candies which was my inspiration for this Valentine's Day Card.  Do you remember looking foward as a child to these sweets on Valentine's Day and saving your favorite heart sentiments or your favorite color hearts for last? However, my taste buds as an adult shouts out CHOCOLATE.  I couldn't use Chocolate for this color challenge so resorted back to my likes as a child. Trivia on Sweetheart Candies at the end of this post...you'll be surprised on how long they have been around.

SURPRISE:  When you open up the card there is a box full of Sweetheart candies. This was my second card for this challenge because unfortunately I had used Whisper Grey instead of White Daisy. I asked my daughter for some more Sweetheart paper, so I had to fussy-cut more pink and white hearts  and then glue them to the heart inside the card.  If you want to see the previous card, click HERE.

SWEETHEARTS (NECCO) TRIVIA:  Oliver R. Chase invented a machine in 1847 to cut lozenges from wafer candy, similar to Necco Wafers, and started a candy factory.

Daniel Chase, Oliver's brother, began printing sayings on the candy in 1866. He designed a machine that was able to press on the candy similar to a stamp. The candy was often used for weddings since the candies had witty saying such as: "Married in pink, he will take a drink", "Married in White, you have chosen right", and "Married in Satin, Love will not be lasting". The heart-shaped conversation candies to be called Sweethearts got their start in 1901.

SweetHearts Happy Valentines Day

A couple weeks ago at a Crop we got some Sweetheart candies which was my inspiration for this Valentine's Day Card.  Do you remember looking forward as a child to these sweets on Valentine's Day and saving your favorite heart sentiments or your favorite color flavor hearts for last?  However, my taste buds as an adult shouts out CHOCOLATE.  See TRIVIA on Sweetheart Candy at the end of this post...you'll be surprised on how long they have been around.

SURPRISE:  When you open up the card there is a box of Sweethearts.  Originally I had put in a flat shaker but couldn't seal the plastic very well and some of the sequins were sneaking out.  My daughter had some Sweetheart paper and I asked if I could have a small piece to fussy-cut the cute hearts with the sentiments from that paper and then I just glued them onto the heart inside the card.

The picture below is a close-up of my Mouse.  When I was scrapping with a friend and my daughter this weekend they thought I was crazy when I stamped the mouse two times, one on white card stock and the other on the pattern paper for the jumpsuit, then fussy-cut both and pieced jumpsuit on the mouse.  I wasn't happy with the white cardstock showing inside the frame of the glasses...so when I got home I fussy-cut that too...now this was crazy.  If you look close you can see the grey and pink panels through the lens on both sides...I'm sure you too would think I was crazy if you knew the size of these stamps...and yes I'm crazy in love with fussy-cutting and I was now happy.

This card was initially created for the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #178 combined with Craftin Desert Divas "Linky Party" and The Outlawz Saturday Paper A La Mode for "Other Shaped Cards".  However, when I was writing my blog for this card I noted that I used Whisper (Grey) instead of White Daisy.  So, I needed to re-think my card for the Color Challenge and create another one.   You can see it by going to "Sweethearts Happy Valentines Day #2"

Cute as a Button

This card was made for the Heart2Heart Challenge Theme "ONE" using the Sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #144

The "One" is for a first newborn, or a 1-Year Old Birthday card, boy or girl.  Left the inside of card open for a Sentiment depending upon what it would be used for.

For the paper clip I thought I would use a diaper pin instead... although most of you may not remember or know what these are...I think diaper pins are pretty much extinct now and for most a blessing.  Trivia: The first paper disposable diapers were invented in 1948.  The first I used them were back in 1972 when my second son was born, but still needed diaper pins...yikes that's a long time ago.

I used a colorful design paper that had darker shades of pinks and purples so that the card could be used for a girl or boy.

Heart2Heart Challenge - January 4, 2016  Our first challenge for 2016 is "ONE". You can interpret that however you like! Your one and only, a first (birthday, milestone, etc.), the number one, or the month of January, the ideas are limitless. We can't wait to see how you interpret this challenge.  Our entire design team is playing this week, so here is our inspiration for you.

Aren't I cute...just hanging around and holding my button.

Think Happy, Be Happy - Birthday Card

Welcome to this week's Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #177. A Birthday Card for my husband's 75th Birthday.  He's a golf enthusiast so I made a card to include a golfing gift certificate in the pocket on the front of the card.  The colors seemed fit for a masculine card and the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #143 seemed fit for a gift card.

This card also was a good fit for the Heart2Heart Challenges Monday, January 18 "By the Number Challenge".  Click on each of these challenges to see what the Design Teams have created and the other entrants inspirations.

My Cricut was quite busy with this card and most of the images had two or three glued layers and then adhered to card with 3D Thin Foam Tape.  For the golf balloons I added Baker's Twine, and on the club I put 75 for my husband's 75th Birthday.  The panel under the Club was raised with 3D Thin Foam Tape so a Gift Card or money could be added.

This photo shows the layering or dimensions of the Balloons, Club and Gift Card Holder.  Cut Sentiment and directly glued to cardstock.

The inside of the card was another Cricut cut on the Ball and Tee which I originally was going to use on the front of the card; but then decided to use it to finish off the inside corner.  Stamped Sentiment,
distressed edge and framed it.

Money Christmas Tree

My daughter's boys are here visiting and we celebrate a 2nd Christmas because their jobs do not allow them to take vacation during the holidays.

The colorful tubes were a part of a Mega Prize at ChouxChoux Paper Art (Lori Hairston) received through random draw from the BlogHop I participated in.  The tubes reminded me of Christmas because of the traditional red and green colors and it had a place I could hide money.  So several bills were rolled and pushed in the tubes.

I had a supply of red and green curling ribbon that I have probably had for 20 years and made a decoration for the top of each tube, letting the ribbon hang and curl naturally.  Tags were made from Cricut Design Space, used another piece of ribbon to tie the two tubes together and hang the Tag. Found a couple plastic containers I use for my embellishments, cut a hole in the top, placed the tubes into the container, and stuffed tissue wrapping paper around tubes to hold in place.

In my Christmas supplies there were tiny christmas erasers which I had bought for stocking gifts when the grandchildren were young and never used...so you know those are at least 15, maybe 20, yeas old also.  So, I placed these under the Christmas tree as gifts.

By Simple Means Come Lovely Things

Welcome again to this week's Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #176.  Please head over and check out other Design Team inspirations and join us in this week’s challenge using Black, White and Shades of Grey.   You have until Thursday, January 21, 2016 to create and link up your project…hoping for your participation. If you have never done a challenge before this is a good place to start…love to see what you create.  I knew the stamp set I wanted to use because it has amazing detail which would be so elegant in black and white with tones of grey.

I stamped two in black and two in grey, heat embossed with clear embossment powder, fussy-cut the separate layers in alternating colors, and adhered each layer with 3D Thin foam tape on a white embossed cardstock which was framed in a shiny black cardstock.

Die-cut Sentiment frame in the shiny black cardstock, stamped sentiment on White Daisy Cardstock, glued to frame and layered with 3D thin foam tape.   Added embellishments.

Happy Birthday

This card was created for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #142.  Even before I saw the challenge my thought was to use the CTMH Charlotte PaperPak because it had such a variety of design papers and colors I like.  Since the sketch shows a lot of open space I chose to use the pastel floral paper to quietly fill that space.  Mulled over what I would use for the image...well I finally came to the realization why not the obvious, a flower to go with the background paper, and a few embellishments to dress it up a little...this is what I ended up with.

Be sure to hop on over to the AHSC blog and check out the many inspirations from the Design Team from this week and previous week's challenges...and there's still time for you to link up before Sunday with your inspiration of this sketch.

For You

This stamp set was blog candy received from Christina Hor, Memories Crafter, offered at the time of the Coffee Lovers Winter/Holiday Blog Hop, along with many other goodies.  I selected this stamp set to use for The Outlawz Challenges for "Monday Greetings" because the little girl "Darcie" holding the bird was just right for releasing the bird to his home in the tree branches.

The tree and frame was a die cut from Cricut Design Space, CTMH Artbooking, reversing the tree to the opposite side and sizing for 5 x 5 card.  A layer of green glitter paper was added to the back of the tree leaves.  Cut the larger leaves also with the green glitter paper and rolled and glued on to the tree to give the leaves dimension.  The trunk was cut from design paper and glued to the tree.  Placed another layer of design paper in back of the Tree Panel and then adhered to another layer of lagoon cardstock.

The Stamp Set used is Darcie's Heart & Home...stamped Darcie and pup with black ink, colored with ShinHan pens and fussy-cut adhereing a second layer.  Stamped the little girl a second time in the Design Paper, fussy-cut dress and pieced the dress on Darcie.  Pups was adhered with 3D thin foam tape, and the little girl was adhered with the regular 3D foam tape to show more demension. Sentiment was stamped on card and liquid glass was put on her shoes.

Sending You a Prickley Hug

This is a Get Well Card which was made at a Scrapbooking Crop in Mesa, Arizona for the CTMH Consultant cousin's husband who is going through cancer treatments and we were invited to make a picker-upper get well card.

This was my first experience using the dies for the cactus stamp set, I need a little more work on positioning the die to the stamp.  My preference is to fussy-cut because I can leave less of a shadow on the image (such as the flower on the cactus).  Adhered different thicknesses of foam tape for a 3D look of the arrangement.  Sentiment was adhered with foam tape and used Wink of Stella on the cacti arrangement.

This is my first card as a Design Team Member for Color My Heart Color Dare.  I had thought about applying but it wasn't until Marie approached me to see if I would be interested in being a Design Team Member for Color Dare, and through our conversations and her encouragement I decided I would accept this as a new challenge in papercrafting.

So...my new journey begins with a Design Team creation for Color Dare Challenge #175 using the sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #141.  Click on either of these challenges to see what the Design Teams have created and the other entrants inspirations.

Please head over to Color My Heart and check out and join us in this week’s Color Dare Challenge #175. You have until Thursday, January 14, 2016 to create and link up your project…hoping for your participation. If you have never done a challenge before this is a good place to start…love to see what you create.

Stamped my flowers on Glacier Cardstock with VersaMark, heat embossed with Silver embossing powder and fussy-cut.  The leaves were stamped on the Silver paper and fussy-cut.  The card and the background paper were edged with VersaMark and heat embossed with silver.

The panel behind the flowers is a Die-Cut from CTMH Artistry...using the negative for the front of card, heat embossed with silver along edges, and adhered silver paper on back.  Then used the actual die-cut  for a border on the inside, along with a couple left-over flowers, leaving space to write a personal note.  Wink of Stella "Clear" was added to flowers, Sentiment stamped on design paper, and Silver glitter tape added.
