Warm Wishes - Double Trouble Challenge "Christmas in July" Stars/Stripes

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #142 "Christmas in July" partnering with with Jingle Belles Challenge "Stars and/or Stripes" using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #531 with CTMH "Seas & Greetings" paperpack with non-traditional colors.

It is in the 100's today in Arizona so I was still feeling the heat of summer and was not feeling Christmas until I linked HERE to listen to Christmas Carols. However, as I was going through my stash of patterned papers, "Seas & Greetings" was perfect for my "Christmas in July" requirement.  There was a striped patterned paper and a star (star fish that is) to meet the Jingle Belles requirement "stars and/or stripes". The banner was cut with a tag die, layered and sentiment stamped on banner with black ink.  The Christmas palm tree, beach sign and star fish stickers were adhered with 3D foam tape on the banner for dimension.

Used the same background patterned papers to border the inside of the card and the photo shows the dimension and layers of the images.

Please stop by and have some fun with our Double Trouble challenge and check out to see what our Team Members and Entrants have created.  Don't forget to check out our collaborating partner at Jingle Belles and see their Design Team members and entrant projects.  Hope to see you there!

Christmas Greetings - Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #18 "Masculine"

Here is a Christmas card I made for Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #18 "Masculine" using the CTMH "Spruced Up" patterned papers and stickers. For my masculine card I chose a sangria patterned paper, distressed the edges, adhered to sangria cardstock and then to white card base.

The cup was a die... one was cut using a striped patterned paper and a second in sangria cardstock layered for shadow.  Down the center of cup applied 3D foam tape and along each side glue to give the cup a rounded dimension and adhered to background. Decided to fill the cup with spruce and pinecone stickers with different levels using 3D foam tape.  Needed something more to fill the cup... added another small leaf sticker and fussy-cut a birdie with spruce and berries from another patterned paper from packet and applied with 3D thin tape in cup.

Stamped sentiment on the corner and smudged some of the ink on my cup so added another sticker of small trees to the cup.  I liked the look because it broken up the stripes a little and gave it a more customized cup.

Lined the inside border with the striped patterned paper and added a small border of a sticker design along the edge to soften the stripe.

Thinking of You - Color Dare Challenge #554

This is my Design Team card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #554 "TicTacToe.

Headed to my stash of backgrounds created back some time ago with my daughter and this one popped out at me because it had a pretty close match to the Sundance and Honey Butter colors... so all I needed was Avocado to complete Column 3 in the Color Board. Avocado was an easy choice for Arizona cacti and what better than using a Scraps of Love "Cactus Doodle" stamp from our local store.

Stamped both images on the background with Memento ink, colored the edges. Stamped the same cacti on white cardstock, colored using Copic brush pens and then fussy-cut cacti leaving off the prickly spines. The smaller cactus was glued directly over the one on the background and added 3D thin foam dots to the flowers for dimension.  The larger cactus was adhered with 3D thin foam tape over the stamped image on background for addtional dimension and then stamped a small flower, colored and adhered directly on top of cactus.  Sentiment was added to the center of the sun.  Warm and prickly card finished.  Nope... needed more.

Needed some of the Arizonian birds that we see in Spring... 10-14 baby quails smaller than my little finger and trailing behind their mom and dad or hiding behind our cacti. These are pictures I took this Spring but when I went out to take the pics the babies ran behind our cacti plants and mom and dad sat on the wall and kept a very close eye on me.

Stamped quail direct on background in black ink, stamped on white cardstock to color and then adhered over the stamped on background with 3D thin foam tape. Needed to balance the other side and stamped a little fox, colored and adhered with 3D thin foam tape.  I doodled around the sun to match up the whimsical look of the cacti.

On the inside of the card adhered the piece cut off from the background along the border and stamped some flowers in the corner with a splash of color.

Next... sat down in front of my Photo Box, took one shot of the front of the card, positioned the second and a prop jumped up on my lap and entered the Photo Box before I got the inside photo.  Cleo insisted to be included in my photos and here are those shots... what a ham.  I thought my card was cute; but my prop is even cuter.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #554 "TicTacToe and check out the Design Teams inspiration, choose a row, column or diagonal of colors and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Thinking of You - Double Trouble Challenge #141 - "SomeThing AnyThing EveryThing" Mini Slimline

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" challenge using Twisted Sister's optional twist to create a Slimline card to celebrate the longest day of the year.  I chose CTMH "Cherry Blossoms" because it was a good fit for a mini slimline and perfect for a Thinking of You card for a special friend. Stamped, fussy-cut and colored the Cherry Blossoms and set aside.

Since I made quite a few Gel Press backgrounds at my daughter's cabin retreat that's the first place visited to seek out a background... it's nice to pull out backgrounds already completed and not have to get messy.  This background was chosen for the pretty pattern and color to show off my cherry blossoms.

We had lunch the other day with a friend in Mesa and decided on our way home we would visit our local scrapbooking store "Scraps of Love" and found some great windows for a mini card... and windows are great for a shaker card. So the hexagon cuts were made on the gel press background when I realized I was lacking a 1/2" to cover the length of the mini; but had just enough cut off on the width to extend the bottom which adhered tightly to the bottom.

Added my acrylic panel, placed foam tape around windows and edges, added the sequins, cut a patterned paper in pale pink (doily-like affect), adhered patterened paper to the back of the windows and then to the card base.

Added the sentiment to the right corner of the card, and since I saw the line of the add on of background paper decided to cut one of the other cherry blossom stamps and place over the line. I love dimension and layers so I stamped another branch of the cherry blossoms and cut out three of the flowers, fussy-cut and adhered with 3d thin foam tape.

The inside of the card was bordered with a piece left over from my personalized gel print background and another one of the florals in the bottom corner.  Also cut a piece of that same flowers and adhered with 3d thin foam tape for dimension.

Summer AKA Flip Flop Season - Double Trouble #140 "On A Warm Summer Day"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble Challenge #140 "On a Warm Summer's Day" and partnering with ColorMyHeart Color Dare #552 "Inspiration Photo".  Oh my, I had so much fun with the Inspiration Photo using the Twisted Sister's optional twist "include a flip-flop"... I went crazy with flip flops and I don't even like wearing them.

For a jump start on my projects I generally look for a sketch and Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #528 was perfect for my bouquet of colorful flip-flops. I cut out six masking flip flops so that I had enough for covering surrounding flip flops as I added each flip flop to my bouquet. A lot of masking and then a lot of fun coloring with Copic brush pens using a variety of colors in the Inspiration Photo. After satisfied with the shape, size and coloring of my Flip Flop Bouquet it was fussy cut to be adhered to a background.

From one of the Mix-In packets I found a Toffee marbled patterned paper to use for a sandy background, but it needed more texture. Pulled out CTMH "Writing in the Sand" stamp, inked up with Toffee and I stamped away, and then took the Colonial White to lighten it up for a lighter sand... that worked.  Stamped on the Sentiments and then positioned the bouquet on the sandy background and ahered with 3D thin foam tape.  The embellishments of the shells were to act as the leaves of my Flip Flop Bouquet.  The starfish were stamped directly in the sand and the four larger shells were stamped, colored and fussy cut and randomly glued to the sand.

Thought I was finished until my daughter had mentioned earlier to put flowers on the flip flops...  I knew just the ones to use because there was such a variety of colors. Now it is my Floral Flip Flop Bouquet... done and very pleased with the result.  What do you think?

I Heart Summer - Color Dare #552 "Inspiration Photo"

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge #552 "Summer Inspiration Photo" partnering with Double Trouble Challenge #140 "On a Warm Summer's Day" with Twisted Sister's optional twist to "include a flip flop".

In my stash of stamp sets last year's June SOTM "I Heart Summer" had lots of Summer images which could be used for a seashore project along with the CTMH "Beach Party".  Stamped a couple of the images from Beach party; but then I put the whole stamp set for "I Heart Summer" as it sat on the plastic in my Misti and stamped the full set and when I pulled it out it seemed perfect to use all the border images and sentiments for my card... so "Beach Party" stamps were put aside.

I pulled out my Copic Sketch brush pens and started coloring using the many colors in the Color Dare's inspiration photo and it wasn't long before my personalized  was complete.  I cut a border layer in Flamingo cardstock, adhered to the back of my personalized pattern and then adhered to the card base. Used the extra stamps on the inside right-hand corner and card was done (photo below).

You're One Crazy Cat - Guest Designer for Crazy For Cats

Back awhile ago I was invited as Guest Designer for Crazy for Cats Challenge "Anything Goes" with the choice of March through June challenges ... how time flies.  Missed submitting the last three months so my card is for the June Challenge "Anything Goes Cat".

Looked through my stash for cat/kitten scrapping supplies and found this cute Halloween stamp set.  Back a month ago my daughter invited me to their cabin for a scrapping retreat and we set aside one day to do gel press backgrounds and this was the perfect background for a Halloween card.  Decided a mini-slimline card would be perfect for the image.  Gel print background was backed with a black and white magical design paper and adhered to card base.

Stamped cat on white cardstock, colored with Copic brush pens, fussy cut and  adhered to background with thin foam tape.  Stamped the witch's hat on the same background pattern and fussy-cut to be placed on cat's head with regular foam tape for more dimension.  Sentiments were stamped with black on top and bottom corners and a few cute bats were stamped on the upper right-hand corner.

On the inside of the card added a border along the right, stamped cat peeking behind the border and added the witch hat and bat in the corner.
