This is my Design Team card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #516 "3-Play" using the Try Stampin' on Tuesdays Sketch Challenge #574, rotated to landscape, and combined with stencil technique. My first thought was a masculine card with gears and sprockets but the colors were telling me no-no. However, gear in slang means something stylish... so I went with stylish.
This was a fun card to create, even with the unusural combination of colors with my sprocket dies. Started with a light grey (Linen) cardstock, sponged Linen ink on stencil called "mini cell theory" and then bordered it with Sangria cardstock.
Now I'm all geared up. Decided the center largest sprocket should be in Sangria and the smaller ones in blue (Carolina) and pink (Flamingo). Made several cuts of the different sprockets, amused myself with several layouts, had trouble fitting it in portrait so I simply rotated the sketch to landscape and was able to get something similar to the sketch. Adhered large sprocket direct to my stencil background and used 3D thin tape for the smaller sprockets.
I actually pulled out my Cricut for the "Gear Up" sentiment I made in Design Space and adhered to the center of the large sprocket and stamped "Happy Birthday" sentiment.

Great card. Don't you LOVE using sketch! I sure do!
You definitely styled it out Suzanne! I think gears can be feminine too anyway. I’m certainly far better at DIY than my husband!! X
I love the texture in the background...very subtle but I think it helps the gears POP! Great card for anybody!
Great job! Love the gears with our colors.
Love the gears in our Colour Dare Colours. I also love how you've adapted the sketch too.
I think these colours are still suitable for a masculine card and those gears are just perfect - love it
Wonderful take on the sketch! I really like all the gears and that sentiment is spot on! The stenciling in the background is subtle but packs a punch. Thanks for playing over at TSOT.
Great job of combining stenciling and our sketch. Loving all the sprockets. Thanks for joining us at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.

Suzanne, what a clever interpretation of our TSOT sketch! I like how you rotated the sketch and went with the non-traditional colors... this would be perfect for teen guys or gals! Thank you for sharing your card and creativity with us!!! -Donna
