You're a Classic - Double Trouble #113 "Let's Go Masculine"

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #113 "Let's Go Masculine" using Twisted Sister's Optional twist to use Stripes and/or Plaids and used Double Trouble's partner Try Stampin' on Tuesday's Sketch Challenge #559.

I don't often do masculine cards but the ColorMyHeart Color Dare #498 "Triple Play" were good masculine colors and the right stamp would make this a quick card.

Boy was I wrong on the quick... probably due to combining the three challenges. Selecting the right design papers was a chore and many different cuts were made before the final selection. I was set on a gold classic car and this too was not quick. My first attempt was to color the stamped classic car with Copic markers, then gold foil, glitter paper, gold pen, even went to silver and last added glitter to the original Copic car... and still wasn't satisfied. Some of the classic car coloring was used as another layer for dimension.

Had to get away from it, went to bed and got up the next morning, and with the help of my cropping buddies we voted on the best paper choice, classic car was mounted in place, but still not satisfied. The gold sequins were my determining factor on what color classic car to use; but I had already added the glitter and needed to color with Copic one more time and leave off the glitter. Fuzzy-cut the classic car and even the windows.  Many photos were taken in between to determine the closest to the gold sequins. Probably won't be any time soon that I will tackle another masculine card unless I keep it simple.  But I was happy with the end result.

Your card turned out awesome! Sounds like a lot of thought and process went in to this one! I always have to keep masculine cards super simple or I get frustrated with them too! Way to conquer and create this great masculine card :)

Masculine cards are hard for me as well - this is a great one. The papers are just right for the car image.

Oh gosh, sounds like you had a bit of a tough time with this one. It happens to us all! The end result looks fabulous though so well done for ploughing on. X

Suzanne, I really like how your classic car is "bursting" out of the star lit sky oval on your card. By choosing to combine THREE challenges in a single card, you gave yourself an incredible task... which turned out beautifully! I've had to sleep on a card to get new mojo on occasion as well, so it's a tried and true method that obviously works base on your results!!! It will be a great inspiration four our DTC participants!!! -Donna

Suzanne, I could swear I left a comment on your cool car card already, but I don't see it, and don't want you to think I missed it! I really like all the masculine pattern paper your incorporated into your card. I know you had a hard time deciding which card to use, but the one you finalized on is really effective... I especially like how it seems to be bursting out of a starry night... kinda like the "Back to the Future" DeLorean :-D Thank you for sharing your creative process with us at both Double Trouble AND Try Stampin' on Tuesday!!! -Donna

This is a great manly card. I have an uncle who likes to tinker with cars and work on him he would love this, I don’t have any vintage cars stamps like this might need to get something, who knows the Stampaway convention is coming up. You put a lot of work into your card and it shows! Thank you for joining our try Stamping on Tuesday as we joined up with double trouble. You really did get all three elements in your card great job.

Great end result! Some cards just seem to cause more grief than others in the creation. But your efforts were worth it. Thank you for joining us at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.
