Thankful, Grateful, Blessed - The Cutting Cafe

My daughter approached me to see if I would be interested in becoming a DT member of The Cutting Café and then referred me to Regina.  Well, after my daughter "twisted my arm" and Regina said "I could do it" and because my Cricut was gathering dust in my paper crafting room...I decided to dust it off and start using it. Plus CTMH is offering a Cricut Affiliate Program that can be shared with my customers, so look out Cricut here I come.

So, here I am with my first DT project. A bit of a learning curve working with SVG files; but with the help of my daughter I adapted pretty fast and now looking forward to creating the next project.

Chose to use the "Single Door" SVG File because this was another new challenge to me ...  working with a long card ... and a challenge to fill in the space with the different Cutting Café files without hiding the style of the door.

The door was cut with woodgrain design paper and another layer to add thickness and dimension to the door. Uploaded the wreaths to Cricut, imported and changed to a print and cut around the inside and outside of the wreath...they cut beautifully.  Colored the wreath with many Copic colors of fall, stamped and colored a small squirrel to add to the center of the wreath. Stamped the sentiment on the wood cut at the top of the door and added a bronze circle door handle.

Okay, the wreath was very pretty, but my thought was to find something to use on the bottom corner to balance out the card. My ideas were all over the place and then decided to put a Trick or Treater on the left-hand corner of the door.  My daughter told me to look for Elisha and Friends...and perfect there was a Witch printable stamp available and I chose to use Elisha's friend, Mikala Ann.  Printed the images and then used another machine that collects dust "Brother Scan and Cut" and they cut beautifully; however, I  needed to do a little fussy-cut between the witch and broom. I know the Brother can do this but the time to experiment would be far more than doing fussy-cut, maybe next time.  Mikala Ann was colored with Copic alcohol-base brush pens in a variety of colors, and the plaid you see is not design paper but used three shades of purple and white gel lines to create the plaid dress.

Felt I needed to bring a little of the Fall colors down in the corner, so added a few of the leaves that fell from the wreath and luckily Witch Mikala Ann had her broom for clean up.  Couldn't finish there because the house cat was out and appeared to be quite inquisitive on why the squirrel was on the wreath.  Done and very happy with my first DT card for The Cutting Café.

Super cute Halloween card, Suzanne (or do you go by Sue?)!!! Love how you created the door from woodgrain pattern paper!I use an ScanNCut, too. The process to cut out the interior shape you did by fussy cutting is a bit involved. There are two videos online that show you how, but you need to use not only your cutter, but also the free Brother CanvasWorkspace on your desktop to complete the process. Your fussy cutting solution is definitely quicker. Thanks for joining us this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday! -Donna
