Thank You - Color Dare #238

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #238: This week’s colors are Peacock, Willow and White Daisy (All and Only). We encourage you to use CTMH products; however you may use any products to participate using closest to colors ... join in the fun.

You don't need a blog to submit your entry...if you are a member of Pinterest you can set up a Folder and link your entry to our Challenge. You have until Thursday, April 13th to enter your project. Please hop on by to see the DT member inspirations and other entrants.

Went to our monthly crop and we share a lot of ideas, techniques, stamps, dies, etc...so my focus for this color challenge was due to our sharing at the Crop.

The technique for the background was shared and I had many experiments until I got what I was happy with.  I'm not sure what it is called, but you use either an embossing folder or you do diagonal scoring on cardstock (I did both) and then just run the ink across the embossed /scored card.  And if you want to stamp something on the embossed item you can do that and then swipe/smudge the ink across the cardstock.

For my card I decided to use the color challenge and swiped the Willow first, and then took the peacock and did the same.  I still need to practice on this; but the results are always different and fun...and if not what you wanted for a particular card, put it in your stash for another time.

The stamped image was also shared at the crop and I used Willow and Peacock inks with a brush water pen.  Used a die cut to frame it, brushed peacock around the image and then added the frame.  All it needed was a sentiment and the card was finished.

The inside of the card was one of the other experiments...the one side was really goofed up so I chose the good side, cut and placed in the upper corner of the inside and I actually through out the bad side after looking at it to determine if it was still going in my stash.

Chairs to You - AHSC 206

My card this week as Design Team Member for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #206. Join this challenge...you have until Sunday, April 9th to enter your project.

The design team reveal for this sketch will be on Wednesdays, so be sure to stop by to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team and other entrant inspirations for this challenge...and stop by every Monday for new sketches.  Don't wait for the DT post to create your project...show us up with your artwork.

Wow, where do I start with this sketch ... because the focal point was so strange I wanted something that really represented it but all I saw was a silhouette or Profile of someone.  Needed some help so sought out my husband and asked him what he saw.  I was shocked when he came back with an answer ... he must be catching on to what a sketch means ... he said a dog or chair.  CHAIR, of course, and I had a chair stamp set I never used.  The dog was a good choice too...but I don't have a good dog stamp currently.

Since he was now completely involved with my creation (LOL) I thought he should participate in the selection of design papers for a good masculine card and chose Jackson paperpack. First...stamped chair on three different design papers and had him choose which one.  Did several cuts for the focal panel and background in the same design papers, plus reverse side and we played around with many combinations.  He really didn't know how much goes into planning and creating a card, but he found out and made his final decisions.

Since he was so overwhelmed on the many decisions, thought it best that I complete the card with the banners and sentiment.  What goes with my husband's chair?  That's a no brainer...a remote control.  And a Front Row Seat Ticket from the Jackson Complements fit right in.   Stamped on Sentiment from same stamp set...done.

It's no wonder we've been together for almost 50 years...we compromise ... well, he might not call it that.

For my H2H DT card "April Showers" chose a Digital from Craftin' Desert Divas...Inspiration was "Spring".

The image was printed on two of the Design Papers in Happy Times and adhered to white cardstock.  One of the design papers was used as the base (full umbrella); and the second design paper was fussy-cut alternating panels and then glued to the full umbrella base.

The same image was printed on white cardstock and full Umbrella was adhered to this image with 3D foam tape to add dimension.  The legs and hands were colored with Flesh Pen, and the boots and raincoat were fussy-cut from the design papers and glued directly on printed image.

The completed image was glued to the floral background design paper.  I chose this paper because it framed the umbrella with the small flowers making it appear as a shower of flowers.  Sentiment added, paneled and glued to background.

These were great colors to use for a Spring Card and with the Coffee Blog in process chose to do a tea card.  Since there was a little flower stamp incuded in the Tea-rrific CTMH Stamp set decided to stamp the colors in the challenge on white daisy cardstock for a personalized stamped background.

Stamped, colored and fussy-cut the teacup, flower and tea bag...layered and adhered to background with 3D Thin Foam Tape, lining up the floral on the cup with the background paper.  Stamped sentiment in lagoon ink and layered on tangerine cardstock.

Inside twist:  Lots of layered cups.

Inspiration - Paper Sweeties Challenge for March "Anything Goes" Paper Sweeties is one of the super/FLASH sponsor's, for the 2017 Spring Coffee Lover's BlogHop. For my card today I'm using a combination of stamps from CTMH and Paper Sweeties...stop on by, leave a note, browse the blog for other challenges and view the products.

There was a freebie digital on Stamplorations Blog which I was going to color ... however instead decided to use it as an inspiration for my card.  Here is the digital.

Kept my inks and stamps busy and did a lot of masking to create the floral background. Stamped several of the teacups and teapot from Paper Sweeties, colored, fussy-cut and temporarily placed randomly on the background until satisfied with the layout.  I made slits in my floral sheet, slipped in the teacups and teapot and adhered them with 3D thin foam tape. Still needed something...so sought out a stamp with a small butterfly and dragonfly. Stamped with color inks, fussy-cut and placed these randomly on the background with 3D foam tape.  Sentiment was added and card was complete.

A couple phot0s of close-ups of the detail of the stamping and adhering to card base.

Just wanted to do a fun card with spring colors so decided on and wanted something very colorful like spring flowers without using flowers.  The Balloons were in my stash, along with scraps of Kaleidoscope design paper.  Die cut the carry-out cup of coffee from design paper, fussy-cut a few donuts from another design paper, and stamped sentiment.  Played around with the pieces until satisfied with the layout, then adhered with 3D thin foam tape.

Craftin' Desert Diva's is one of the super/FLASH sponsor's, for the 2017 Spring Coffee Lover's BlogHop. My card has been entered in Craftin' Desert Diva's Gallery on Facebook for the March Monthly Challenge.

Printed digital larger to take up a lot of space on an A2 card ... image cut by the Brother Scan and Cut, then fussy-cut around the handle and basket for the window of a shaker card. Drew a weave on the body of the basket and scribbled lines for the wood affect on the handle, base and top of basket.  Used a combination of Copic and ShinHan alcohol-based pens with a variety of colors.  The shaker was filled with brown sequins mixed with a few turquoise and silver sequins to brighten it up.

The sentiment was a combination "Chocolate" from a stamp set which was stamped on the basket, and then the "Where's My Coffee ... " typed with Micro-Soft Word, printed and framed with tangerine cardstock.
