DTC Challenge #199 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise" with TSOT #678

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #199 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise" and Twisted Sister's optional twist to fill in your aperture with at least one image or make a shaker. My choice was to add one image in aperture. Also used our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #678) which starts on Sep 2nd. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges to show how easy it is to participant in both challenges.

My birthday card used CTMH "Party Gnomes" stamps which had never been used and sitting in my stash since purchase. First selected a party patterned paper, bordered with red cardstock, adhered to card base and then cut out a stitched circle aperture.

Went back and forth on whether it was going to be an aperture card or a shaker; but decided to go with the aperture using several of the party gnomes images.

Gnomes were stamped using Memento black ink, cut with Brother Scan&Cut, and colored with Copic Sketch pens.

On the inside of the card I placed the same patterned paper and adhered one gnome to display on aperture cut,  another in the corner, and placed a third gnome on front of card hiding one of the ones on the inside.

When opening the card I wasn't pleased with the gnome on the left side. As with alcohol-inks they bleed through cardstock... so, cut another gnome, pencil drew the back of the gnome, used Black Multi-liner over penciled, erased pencil marks, colored and carefully cut with circle die to fit in aperture cut. My art wasn't perfect but looked better than the color bleed.

I then cut another piece of the same patterned paper using same circle die, fussy-cut around the stitching and applied to the inside of aperture opening.  Sentiments were stamped on the front and inside of card.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, optional twist and let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Then hop on over to our sister challenge,Try a Sketch On Tuesday to check out the Design Teams inspiration, and you may want to consider using their sketch with our 3-2-1 recipe.

Those gnomes are so cute! Good job on the surgery work to cover any alcohol ink bleeding! It looks great and that was creative to do! This card turned out great for the challenge :)

Such a fun card and a lot of work to cover the ink bleed, but worthwhile.

This is the sweetest Suzanne! Fun design on this aperture card with the cutest gnomes. I love how you adhered one gnome to the outside of the window and the other behind. Very creative! Thanks for sharing your project with A Cut Above's September Challenge.
