Hello - Color Dare #642

As I was going through my stash of different technique backgrounds the other day I pulled this green background for an upcoming Color Dare Challenge #642 "Shades of Green" which was a great match to the graphic and didn't even need to pull out my green inks. Bordered my background with Evergreen cardstock and adhered to card base.

Greens remind me of leaves and plants... so off to my die stash.  Already cut was a black silhouette of plants... perfect but cut one more for layering and adhered to green background. Chose another die "Hello" for sentiment using a black for the silhouette and two layers of the Evergreen cardstock.

Probably the fastest I have made a card due to stuff in my stash.

Please hop on over and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and and join us at Color Dare's Challenge #642... hope to see you there and anxious to see what you create.

DTC Challenge #186 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" - Beautiful Friend

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #186 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch Challenge #665 which starts on March 4th so this card will not be entered in the TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

Back in the Spring of last year, my daughter, a friend and I went up to her cabin for the weekend and did a batch of gel press designs using inks, stencils and foil. They have been in my stash for a long time and thought this might be a good time to check them out for our 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" to satisfy the two stencil ingredients... and I got lucky.

The same stencil was used for both designs using different colors and foils. The green and gold gel press design was used to satisfy the 2 of the 3 color ingredient and the second gel press using orange and green to satisfy the other color of my choice.

Butterfly first cut using the orange/green design, along with another cut using green glitter and some of the glitter pieces were pieced in the first cut. Additionally two cuts of the sentiment using the orange/green design and layered. The butterfly was partially adhered to the background and used some thin foam tape for dimension on the upper wings.

Twisted Sister had an optional twist to include a shamrock.  Using green glitter cut a 4-leaf clover and removed one heart leaf to corner and balance the glitter under the sentiment.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Then hop on over and check out the TSOT Sketch Challenge, check out the Design Teams inspiration, and consider using their sketch with our 3-2-1 recipe.

Color Dare #640 (Due 02/21)

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #640 and combining it with Sketch Saturday Challenge #769. My first thought using shades of Brown was to create a masculine card and the focal point in the sketch inspired me to include gears and sprockets.  Masculine cards are not my comfort zone; but I was very happy with the result.

I chose a dark brown wood grain design paper for the smaller panel and used a white and brown patterned paper to brighten up the background, bordered both with Mocha cardstock and adhered to the cardbase.

Die cut each of several sprockets in Espresso but didn't like the color against the other browns so cut another set in bronze metallic and layered on the first cut.  My sprockets took the place of the hexagon and hearts in the sketch and were adhered directly to background and the bottom sprocket using 3d thin foam tape for a little dimension.  Finished off with a Sentiment stamped directly on the woodgrain, and added other sprockets on the inside corner of card base.

OOPS:  When I went to post my card in Color Dare's DT Album, other DT members had an additional color in their projects... re-checking the graphic "Shades of Brown + 1 Color".  Decided to do a quick fix and cut more sprockets in a patterned paper that looked like aging bronze/copper using a greenish/blue color and ahered over the bronze/copper sprockets.

Below is my result prior to fix of + one color.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #640 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there and don't make the mistake I did... make sure you have followed the instruction on the color graphic.

TSOT #664 "Beautiful Friend"

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch Challenge #664 and combining it with our sister challenge Double Trouble #185 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Hoodie Hoo Day" and Twisted Sister's optional twist to use flowers. It was so easy to add the ingredients to this sketch (3) Embellishments, (2) Layers and (1) Sentiment.

Chose one of the design papers from "Love Story" Black paperpack, bordered the white highlight cut and the floral patterned paper with black cardstock and adhered to cardbase.

The floral image was chosen from a sticker sheet in the Love Story "Black" Paperpack, replaced for the circle, placed off edge and adhered directly to background with 3D thin foam tape for a little dimension.  Another sticker of leaves were added.

Cut two "Beautiful Friend" die sentiments, one in black and the other in white, layered the black as a shadow for the white sentiment and adhered direct to background. Placed three white dot embellishments in the upper-right hand corner.

On the inside right-hand border of cardbase another patterned paper was adhered.

Please hop on over and join us at Try a Sketch on Tuesday Double Trouble and check out the Design Teams inspirations, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there. You may also want to check out the Double Trouble 3-2-1 Recipe and maybe your card will meet our 3-2-1 Recipe "Hoodie Hoo Day".

DTC Challenge #185 3-2-1 Recipe "Hoodie Hoo Day"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #185 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Hoodie Hoo Day" Again decided to use our sister challenge Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Challenge #664 which starts on Feb 18th so this card will not be entered in the TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

The two floral images were chosen from a sticker sheet in the Love Story "Mink" Paperpack, and additionally fussy-cut leaving a thinner border. Wisteria and Lagoon cardstock was cut similar to the sketch and adhered together and then embossed using the broken glass embossing folder.

The single floral replaced the circle in the upper left-hand corner, placed off edge and adhered directly to background. The larger floral was cut in places and adhered with both 3D thin foam tape and glue to the background for dimension. Colored the florals in lighter match to the background colors, bordered background with Lagoon cardstock and then adhered to card base.

Cut two "Love" die sentiments for layering, adhered to background and added 3 dot embellishments in the upper-right hand corner.

On the inside right-hand border of cardbase a strip of embossed Lagoon cardstock was adhered.

Hello - Color Challenge #638

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #638 using colors closest to the graphic (Sapphire, Scarlet, Honey Butter) and creating a card using the Sketch Saturday Challenge #768.

My first selection for this sketch was a floral to represent the square using something that has been in my stash a long time and never used. CTMH Mix-In patterned papers were used giving the background a little sunshine. Chose three patterned papers in Honey Butter Mix-Ins for the background panels, using sapphire as the bordering color and match up with the foliage behind the floral.  Added a die cut sentiment to the left of the floral... love the whimsical look of the "hello" sentiment from Paper Smooches, a die set in my stash from before they closed.

An extra die cut of a smaller floral was added to the inside corner of the card base along with foliage.

DTC #184 3-2-1 Recipe "Love is in the Air"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #184 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Love is in the Air" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch Challenge #663 which starts on Feb 4th so this card will not be entered in the TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

Using the 3-2-1 recipe in the clipart above it reminded me of many CTMH patterned zip strips in my stash and perfect for the TSOT sketch. To further enhance the recipe used an additional mix-in patterned paper in Mink.  My first shape was the Heart cut from another mix-in patterned paper which satisified Twisted Sister's optional twist to use a heart. My second shape was the Valentine Wishes envelope with another sentiment with a cute birdie image on the heart.

Color Dare #636 Just One of Those Days

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #636 and combining it with The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #613. This stamp set was one of the last stamp sets I bought before CTMH closed down. This was a perfect stamp set for the color challenge and the simplicity of the sketch. The sketch was flipped horizontally because of image chosen.

Cut a 4" x 5 1/4" inch white cardstock and bordered with Royal cardstock, one of the colors on the Board.  The bird was the first stamped image on my panel, masked the bird to draw green lines for the banner across the panel.  Using masking all other images (scribbles and stars) were stamped directly on the card panel using the other three colors.  Masked off the top portion of card and bird and used a grass stencil to give the bottom of the card a little texture.

Another sentiment was stamped on the inside border of card base with a couple more scribbles to finish off the card.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #636 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

TSOT Sketch #662 "Witching You a Happy Halloween"

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday #662 using the Double Trouble 3-2-1 Recipe "Say Cheese & Smile".

My daughter recently gave me this adorable "Halloween Cat" stamp set which was perfect to use for Double Trouble's 3-2-1 Recipe to satisfy the ingredient of 3 Images of Choice and one ingredient a Sentiment that makes you Smile. Have a folder in my stash of CTMH Halloween paperpacks and chose 2 for the ingredient patterned papers.  So, all I had to do was incorporate my recipe into the TSOT sketch.

The background patterned papers were cut and bordered with tangerine cardstock, and adhered to the cardbase. Stamped several of the images, colored using Copic Sketch brush pens, and set aside.

Three circle sizes were cut, one set in colonial white cardstock and second set in tangerine. The colonial panel of each circle was adhered to the tangerine offset on left side giving a contrast border against the lighter background. Circles were adhered to background as positioned in the sketch and selected images were adhered to the circles with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.

Sentiment was stamped on colonial white, bordered with tangerine cardstock and adhered to cardbase near middle circle.

Please hop on over and join us at Try a Sketch on Tuesday and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Double Trouble 183 3-2-1 Recipe "Say Cheese & Smile"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #182 3-2-1 Recipe "Say Cheese & Smile". Twisted Sister's optional twist was to include a mouse or something cheesy. In my stash I have one mouse stamp set "Snow Mice" and the recipe had three Images which were perfect for the recipe ingredient of 3 images and the TSOT sketch.  The next ingredient was two patterned papers so pulled out my Christmas stash and found the perfect snow flurry background papers.

Chose to use our sister challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday's #662, which does not start until 1/21/2025. This card will not be entered in the challenge as it would be backlinking... but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.  I will use the TSOT sketch in future challenges with the same ruling.

Thanks So Much - Color Dare #634

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #634 and I have used all four colors and combined it with Try a Sketch On Tuesday #661.

In my stash there was some scrap patterned paper from CTMH Tutti Fruiti matching the pink and blue in the Color Board plus a strip of yellow which I covered with Wisteria and then ran through the Big Shot using an embossing folder. Pewter cardstock was used for the border and then attached to the card base.

Made three cuts, one of each color, of a stitched square frame and cascaded the squares in my Misti, and stamped the floral over the squares... this was a little tricky but removing one layer at a time was able to get a good impression of the floral on each square restamping several times. The squares were then adhered directly to the background and the strip to the left was added using pink cardstock bordered with pewter. Sentiment was stamped in the bottom right-hand corner.

On the inside another floral stamp was added to the bottom corner and border.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #634 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

You may also like to hop over to Try a Sketch On Tuesday, to see how easy it might be to combine a color challenge with their sketch challenge.
