Color Dare #606 - Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful

This is my 2nd attempt for my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #606 "Four Square".  These colors inspired me to create a project with a butterfly or peacock using Journey, Royal and Capri. For this card a pretty Glacier floral design was selected for the background and because I didn't want to cut off any of the floral and leaves decided to make a slimline card and bordered it with Royal cardstock.

Starting with the Capri butterfly negative pieces from both the Journey and Royal butteflies were taped in place. The Journey butterfly was then added to the back of the Capri to additionally hold pieces intact.

The Royal butterfly was adhered direct to the patterned paper as a shadow and then the assorted color butterfly was adhered direct to body, used 3D thin foam tape for dimension and a Glacier dot for the head of the butterfly.

The sentiment was cut in two pieces so that I could offset the sentiment to balance the card... that worked for me.

Added a border with patterned paper and a strip of Royal to the inside border of the card base.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #606 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

My first attempt was to use the peacock but wasn't real happy with it, thus put it aside and did the butterfly instead. After completing the butterfly card went back to the peacock, added a few more feathers, adhered to a part of the same design sheet which picked up a light Lagoon.  Bordered the design paper with Royal and adhered to the card base.  Used the same sentiment and placement. I was so happy to finish this card because the image would have gone in my stash and been forgotten about.

DTC #169 "Long & Skinny" - Thank You

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble Challenge #169 "Long & Skinny" commemorating Summer Solstice, the Longest Day in the Northern Hemisphere, Trouble Maker wants you to create a LONG and Skinny card (slimline or mini-slimline).

Twisted Sister's optional twist is to clude flowers and Double Dare says if you have created a slimline and included flowers you are eligible to enter our collaborating partner's challenge at Ellibelle's Corner I Spy with My Little Eye No. 16 "Something Blooming Lovely" and earn another chance at our random drawing.

I chose to create a Mini-Slimline combining it with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #582 and using the Color Board at Color Dare Challenge #605 "Black & White + 1 Color". I have had three sets of "Love Story" (Black, Toffee and Silver) and I chose the black. What more appropriate for choosing this paperpack for the Color Dare Board, and since Twisted Sister wanted us to include flowers the Atlantic Hearts sketch was perfect.

Chose two of the black patterned papers for the background, used a white and black checker for the focal point and bordered all panels using white daisy cardstock. Decided to use one of the complementary white floral design papers to fussy-cut the florals because of the similarity to the background design papers. Used two shade of turquoise, colored the two larger florals and adhered with 3D thin foam tape for dimension. My other corner embellishments were a small floral and cut wooden heart set. Cut two black thank you sentiments, layered and then adhered to the middle of the floral panel.

Bordered the inside of the card base with the checkered panel, edged with a strip of black and fussy-cut, colored and adhered the small floral in bottom corner.

Color Dare #604 - You're Sweet

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare # 604 "Six Pack" combined with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #580. All you need to do is select at least three colors from the Color Board and follow the rules for the neutrals. I chose to use Limeade, Flamingo and Ballerina.

In my stash I had a macaron stamp which hadn't been used yet and the Color Board reminded me of a dish of macarons.  The macaron stamp is a stack of three; but I wanted to position them differently... so stamped the top macaron in limeade, flamingo and ballerina cardstock, fussy-cut each,  brushed edges with retired inks that matched close to the each color and filled center of macaron with white jel pen.  To bring in the flair as in sketch two bows from pink vellum were cut.

Two circles, one each in Limeade and Ballerina were glued off-center using Limeade as a shadow, adhered off the edge of a pretty design paper selected for the background, snipped off side of circle, bordered with Limeade cardstock and adhered to a card base.  A sentiment was stamped on the pink circle.

The macarons were adhered on the edge of the circle using 3D thin foam tape for dimension, applying Duvo White Blizzard Glitter over white jel pen and applied Wink of Stella glitter to finish off the macarons.  Wrapped up the macarons with the pink vellum bow.  This close up photo shows the deliciousness of the macarons.
On the border of the inside of card base used a triangular shape of the same patterned paper as background and bordered it with a strip of limeade cardstock.

TSOT Challenge 648 - Sending Good Vibes Your Way

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch On Tuesday #648. This sketch reminded me of a sunrise on a beach... so that's where I started.  With a couple of brown inks on white cardstock stamped the sand portion at the bottom and another cut of the aqua patterned paper for the sea and adhered them to a piece of perriwinkle cardstock to complete the background sky for my beach scene.

To complete the scene... selected another patterned paper, die cut a sun cutting off the bottom portion to adhere flush to the top of the aqua sea. Stamped, colored and fussy-cut a seagull image, split a portion of the aqua and adhered trunks under the aqua giving it a little dimension. The seagull was placed in the split and used thin foam tape on the seagull for additional dimension.

Using a white gel pen scribbled small line marks along the seashore and in the waves to show wave action.  Stamped sentiment in black Memento ink direct on the sky portion of the background.

Please hop over to Try A Sketch on Tuesday to see their Design Team members inspiration and let's see what you create using this sketch. You may want to go over to Double Trouble, our sister challenge, and maybe you can combine both these challenges.

DTC #168 - Have a CRABulous Birthday

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble Challenge #168 "We Dare You" to create a masculine card and then use Twisted Sister's optional twist to use Colorful Options Color of the Month "Aqua" or use Rainbow Colors. Wasn't sure how these colors would fit into a masculine card... but I think I accomplished it using both aqua and rainbow colors... what do you think?

Using white cardstock another stamp from Voice in the Sea was stamped with Memento Black Ink, colored with Copic brushes and adhered on the inside corner of the card base.
