Color Dare #602 - 12th Anniversary Celebration

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #602 "Triple Play" for our 12th Anniversary Celebration. In homage we are doing an updated take on those original colors. While I was looking for a sketch to combine with our color challenge, the CTMH "Just Chicken In" was sitting in my space beckening me to use. When I selected the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #578 there was a floral on the same stamp set which was perfect for this sketch. Even though I wanted to use chicks; just couldn't see chicks in these color... so the chicks will sit there for another challenge and I'll use the floral.

The floral was stamped using Memento black ink on Wisteria (one on dark side and the other on the light side) and another one stamped in Royal. The Royal floral was fussy-cut for the base of the floral. The light Wisteria was fussy-cut for the inner part of the daffodil and the dark Wisteria was fussy-cut for the outer part of the daffodil. The Wisteria pieces were added to Royal floral base with glue and some parts with thin 3-D foam tape for dimension.

Periwinkle is one of my favorite colors. We had a Periwinkle car way back in the 90's because I wanted a purple car. My husband was hesitant; but we purchased it. There were times I would wander around a parking lot looking for my Periwinkle car but in daytime light it was more blue than purple and there weren't remotes at that time to lead you to your car. So... there were difficult times when looking for my car; but it wasn't difficult to choose the background papers in Periwinkle, border them with the Royal and place them as in the sketch on the card base.

The focal point and sentiment frames were cut, one with patterned paper and the other in Royal cardstock, modified using a stitched rectangle frame.

On the inside of the card base the right-hand border was a strip of Royal cardstock, zip strip and another strip of the same background patterned paper.  Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #602 for our 12th Annniversary, check out the Design Teams inspiration and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

DTC #167 - DTC 6th Anniversay Celebration "Raffle" Graduation

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble's "6th Anniversary Raffle" and decided to make a Graduation Gift Box for my youngest grandchild, Izzy, for her 2024 High School Graduation Party.  It seems like yesterday she was just a baby.

I thought a box card would be perfect... and used "The Pop Up Box Card | Very Easy To Make" tutorial by Sam Calcott UK - Mixed Up Craft ... and there was an excellent way to add the crossbars in the box, much simpler than I've done previouosly.

Optional Twist: Twisted Sister wants you to use Kraft paper, Kraft-colored cardstock, a brown paper bag, or any product made from Kraft-type paper in your project... so I used some textured corrugated cardboard on three sides of the box. This first photo is the front of the box card (slightly open) with many school elements.

This second photo is the back of the card for Izzy's future plans to attend college at State University of New York at Fredonia.  The Logo of the college is a tag to pull out an attached Fredonia Gift card.

My Raffle Ticket is for a Graduation Gift Box. All of the elements in the box are listed in my Products below identifying what die, stamp or cricut cut was used. The photos below, using different focus points, show better detail of some of the elements in the box.

Double Dare says to combine your project from one of our previous partners for another chance at the Double Trouble random drawing for a prize. I chose Creative Creases with my Box card.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble to check out the Design Teams inspiration and the raffle they chose. Let's see what you choose to create... hope to see you there.

You may want to skip on over to Try A Sketch on Tuesday, our Sister challenge, and combine our challenge with their sketch for additional chances at our random drawings.  Click HERE for the  current list of previous partners.

Color Dare Challenge #600 - Sweet as Honey

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #600 "TicTacToe" and my choice for the TicTacToe is the 3rd Column colors of Sapphire, Capri and  Honeybutter.

Immediately went to my stash to pull out a retired CTMH stamp set "Honeycomb Flair" perfect for the Sketch Saturday #750 and Honey Butter. Honeycomb patterns were stamped using Linen, Honey and Canary inks... a great match to the Honey Butter Mix-in patterned paper used for the focal point. Sentiment was stamped on bottom left using Sapphire ink. The Honeycombs, focal point and background were all bordered using Sapphire cardstock and adhered to the background using some 3D thin foam tape for dimension.

Left over Negative and bee cuts were used to decorate the inside corner of the card base.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #600 and check out the Design Teams inspirational projects.  Let's see what you create... hope to see you there. You may also like to hop over to Sketch Saturday to see their Design Team members inspiration and how easy it might be to combine challenges.

TSOT Challenge #646 "Hootie Cutie"

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch On Tuesday #646 using the ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge #599 "Triple Play" and you must use All Three Colors in your project.

Once I found a good match of papers and colors it was easy to cut the shapes used in the sketch and bordered with Lagoon cardstock. In one of my favorite paperpacks there were some cute owl stickers in Wisteria and Lagoon which were perfect for my focal point. The owl was added with 3D thin foam tape for some dimension and from that same sticker sheet I added the butterfly and sentiment direct to background.

Other stickers (large Hooray sentiment and flowers) were selected for the inside border and corner and adhered direct to inside card base.

Please hop on over and join us at TSOT and check out the other Design Team members' inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

DTC #166 - Tuesday Morning Sketches (May 6-19)

Here is my Design Team card for Double Trouble #166 "Stash or Trash" in celebration of Lost Sock Memorial Day on May 9th in collaboration with Tuesday Morning Sketches.

My suggestion for this fun challenge is to spend a little time (as little as possible) searching for those missing socks as most likely you won't find them. So off I headed to my scrapping space (where I spend most of my life... lol) to conduct my brief search.

While I was going through my stash I was surprised to see all the unused, unmatched snippets of patterned paper and/or images. I was so mesmerized by a 5x12 snippet left over from a Yuletide 12 Christmas Card Workshop I attended in 2014. So it was time to throw my socks in the trash.

I pulled up my blog to refresh my memory and came across the photo below to see the cards we created and a close up of the cardinal image. There was so much similarity this snippet would be perfect, along with two other snippets, to use for Twisted Sister's optional twist to create using the Tuesday Morning Sketch #756.

Cut two of the panels using the Cardinal and music note snippet and two other patterned papers from my stash behind them. Had another snippet of the red patterned paper and was able to use it for the background.  Bordering of the panels were cut using the retired Colonial White and adhering to a Colonial White card base.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble to check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there. Check out Tuesday Morning Sketches, our collaborating partner to this challenge, to see how easy it might be to combine challenges.

The tree branch and sentiment were used for the ribbon part of the sketch adhering with 3D thin foam tape for a little dimension.  For the inside border of the card base the snippets from the snippets were used... leaving nothing to put back in my stash.
