Sweet - AHSC #223

Decided to do a whimsical card for a baby shower, toddler birthday and even those teenagers and adults who adore unicorns. The other day purchased a Doodle-Pops Sticker and matched it up with Little Dreamer Paperpack because of the colors and whimsical design papers.  Added some sparkly starts but didn't go out of the box with my sketch interpretation because the design papers and layering were just what my Unicorn needed.

BFF - H2H Aug Week #1

This week's Challenge is all about "Friends".  Sunday, August 6th is National Friendshiip Day.  How will you celebrate?  

I'm going to get together with BFF and chat over Coffee on a beautiful Summer Day. Florence Paperpack is my choice of design papers and have been anxious to use some cute Garden Greetings from Paper Smooches and "BFF" fit the theme.

Happy Birthday - Color Dare #254

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #254: This week we are challenging you to using the color palette from the "Prickly Pear" paper pack to use (ALL and ONLY) these CTMH Colors in Prickly Pear: Blossom, Emerald, Lemon, Poppy, Sapphire, Sea Glass, Sorbet, Tangerine and White Daisy OR (choosing 3-4 of the colors and neutrals). 

Making a Birthday Card for my daughter-in-law who just moved back to New York, so I wanted a little bit of Arizona (cacti) and the summer flowers of New York (Floral background).  Took one of the PML cards and cut out the white space to use for a shaker card.  From the complements added a cactus, a small flower and  a heart to the outside of the shaker.  Framed shaker with a design paper, using one of my tailored stitches and attached to the background.  Sentiment was a die, layered and adhered to bottom.

Love "Cat and Mice" - AHSC #222

My card this week as Design Team Member for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #222. Join this challenge...you have until Sunday, July 30th to enter your project. 

Looking through my dies Paper Smooches "Cat Icons" was my choice and looking at the sketch saw the cat in the upper frame and then three little mice in the lower frame. Cut two layers for the Cat and Mice and between layers put white cardstock behind the eyes, and inked in a pink nose.  

Back awhile ago through Peachy Cheap I purchased My Mind's Eye packet that included 6 x 6 design papers, stickers and some PML cards. Chose a pretty floral pattern for my background paper and then a brick wall for the two frames and a splash of dots between the frames and cut black cardstock as a layer to the back of each of the design papers.    

From the stickers I used the balls of yarn for the two circles and Love for my sentiment. Cut my frames and layers. This is not common for me but all these decisions even before putting the card together ... and it actually all fell in place with no changes from my original choices.

Paw Prints were die cut and adhered to the bottom corner of the inside, along with a strip of the splash of dots along the border.

"Fabulous Fonts"

This week's Challenge is all about "Fabulous Fonts".  Use those alphabet stamps, die cuts, cricut cuts, or computer generated fonts in a creative way!   My choice was to use Live, Laugh, Love Stamp set and some dies for the florals, leaves and doily cut from the different design papers in Florence paperpack.  The "Love" was stamped on design paper with black ink and left un-colored.

Always Be You - Color Dare #253

On Facebook I had seen some cards with the Retiform Technique and went to YouTube for a tutorial...there are so many but I did my card using the instructions by Lisa Furbush "Creating a Retiform Background".  Somewhat modified and used many of my stamps in the colors for this week's ColorMyHeart Color Dare Challenge #253.  Fun Card to create.  

My white strips were too thick and bold for me ... and since Gold was an option ... decided to cover them with Gold Glitter Tape.  Cutting the width at 1/4" there was an 1/8" strip left over and wished I had used them instead.  However, the tape would not come off clean ... wished I had experiemented before adhering the tape ... lesson learned for the next time.  The images were stamped with Slate Ink after stamping once to soften the color.  

This month we are challenging you to using the color palette from the "Prickly Pear" paper pack and the Color Challenge for this week is: Poppy, Tangerine, Willow, Glacier, Slate, White Daisy with Optional Gold. For the inside of the card I used the same technique on the border.  It was when I tried the 1/8" strip of gold glitter tape on the white strips I wanted to dismantle my card and use them on the front.

Have a new rose die purchased from Paper Smooches which I thought it would look good in this sketch ... and chose the Charlotte paperpack because of the variety of design papers and zip strips for the banners.  

Die Cut both size of the Roses in Sorbet cardstock and design paper and pieced together. Since I didn't have any green in my design papers the stem and leave were cut in Sorbet and Whisper cardstock. For the sentiment used one of the zip strips that had words and adhered with 3D Thin Foam Tape so that the banners, cut from either design paper or zip strips, were slipped into the bottom of the sentiment and adhered.

H2H July Wk 3 - Merry Everything

My Design Team Card for Heart2Heart Challenges was combined with Tuesday Morning Sketch #411 "Christmas in July", but flipping sketch upside down.  


This week's Challenge is all about "In Stitches".  Maybe it's technique time or maybe you need to scrapbook a moment that had you "in stitches" Or heaven forbid someone actually had medical stitches.  It wasn't a difficult choice for me to put stitches on my card because a lot of my frame dies have stitches.  Chose some pretty design papers from one of my favorite chirstmas paper packs "White Pines" (a retired paperpack which I loved so much got a couple of packets and still have a lot of my stash). 

  

I did several different color cuts on the glowing candle die and patiently pieced them together.  Added some red berries to the foliage.  Sentiment was stamped on design paper in cranberry ink, corners snipped and adhered with 3D thin foam tape.

Hello Friend - Color Dare #252

My Color Dare challenge was combined with the Sketch Challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketch #410, however, could not meet the deadline to enter their challenge.  One of the PML cards from Prickly Pear paperpack was chosen as my panel for the three amigo cacti which were die cut, hand printed faces on each and a flower placed on top as a hat.

AHSC #220 - Thank You

This card was created using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #220 combined with Three Amigos Bloghop Challenge "Prickly Pear Inspiration" and Paper Smooches "Anything Goes" and "Aug Guest Designer Search".  Please stop by these challenges to see the inspiration projects from DT and entrants.  

Chose the small floral print from "Prickly Pear" and Paper Smooches "Garden Blooms" die which was a perfect match as a focal. The Blooms were die cut from design paper and the banner from another design paper which was a great contrast between the two. My first sentiment was black, but it was too dark and distracted from the Blooms, so I cut a second sentiment and adhered over the black leaving a shadow.

When I picked up my negative of the Garden Blooms to throw out, or put in my stash for a later use...WOW, I can use this now for the inside border of my card.  So I put another strip of design paper in back of the negative and it was a nice contrast and blend for the front of my card.

This card was created using the color theme from Seize the Birthday "Red, White and You". Dr. Seuss, one of my daughter's favorite books as a child...so what better than The Cat in the Hat SVG File...and the Artist is Melissa Deuss from Kadoodle Bug Design. Wow, lots of small pieces and layers...but with a little patience got it together.   The rest of the card came together real easy.  

On the inside of the card die cut a couple more of the Bam Bubbles and adhered to the corner.
