Make Room for Fairies in Your Garden - Double Trouble #164 with Crafter's Cafe

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #164 "CAS Less But Better" and using Twisted Sister's optional twist to use another color instead of using the white cardstock. I already had my stamp set picked out and when I saw Sketch Saturday #748 it was perfect for my three small fairy stamps. Our partner for this challenge is Crafter's Cafe "CAS".

In the sketch I could see a lot of layers; but my intent was no layering nor embellishments so just had to figure out how this could be done. Next decision was the color I would use for the open space instead of white and when putting away a paper packet I had not yet used there was a real pretty varigated blue/white pattern with a floral that was also perfect for the distirbution of color and open space.

Background patterned paper was cut to 4" x 5 1/4".  Placed and stamped the fairies with Black Memento Ink where each circle appeared. Looked at my rectangle frame cuts with the approximate size in sketch and cut the first frame in the center of the patterned paper, and the other frame was the size I had already cut and was able to get the stitching on the outer frame... how did that happen?  Reminded me of the layered stamping technique. For distinction of the smaller rectangle I brushed Glacier ink on the inner part of the larger frame.

Wasn't satisfied with just the stamped fairy and thought it still needed the circle. A spotlight technique came to mind. Using a circle cut from vellum, placed the circle over each fairy, outlined the circle using a Copic Black Multi-liner and added clear Wink of Stella on each circle (photo below).  For the small sentiment rectangle I stamped a little flourish from the same stamp set.

Another thought... this is where I brought in the Color My Heart Color Dare Board #595 since I used a Glacier background I only needed to chose two more colors and I chose the softer colors, pink (Peach) for the flowers and Seafoam for my card base.

My daughter, my mentor, thought it still needed a sentiment... so went to Pinterest to see some of the sentiments used and found this one to be perfect with my floral background and fairies.  Printed the sentiment from my computer, bordered with a thin piece of Glacier cardstock and adhered directly to the patterned paper (ooops, a layer, blame it on Lisa); but I was very happy with my CAS card. Let me know what you think.

On the inside corner stamped one of the other florals from the same stamp set along with the one used on the front of card and colored slightly with Copic colors similar to Seafoam and Peach.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Also please go to Crafter's Cafe, our partner for this challenge and check out Design Team members inspiration and see how easy it might be to combine these challenges.

CARD 2:
Well, after looking at the card I wasn't sure whether the first card would be considered a CAS card for the Crafter's Cafe "CAS", our partner's requirement... so decided to do another card with the same images but different background paper and less patterns.  The card below does not meet the Color Dare challenge so just an entry for Crafter's Cafe "CAS" using the same Sketch Saturday Challenge #748.

Hugs - Color Dare #596

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #596 "Black & Brown + 1 Color" combined with our sister challenge at Try a Sketch On Tuesday #644. My selection was using Toffee as my brown, Black and my + 1 color is Candy Apple.

All the panel borders were cut first using black cardstock to help me with my selection of where I would use my red + color.  I chose the Teddy Bear for my focal point and using Toffee patterned paper. The Teddy Bear was stamped two times... first directly on the cardstock, the second used to fussy-cut the head, arms and legs separately, piece and adhere to full image on cardstock with glue and 3D thin foam tape rounding the Teddy Bear.  Added a red bow for pop of my + color.

A pretty patterned Toffee background was selected and adhered to the black border cut.  To break the two brown panels decided to use more than just the pop of red. anc cut a panel using a Mix-In Candy Apple patterned paper, adhered to the black border cut and adhered to the background.  The Teddy Bear panel was added to the black border cut.  Two hearts were cut, one in black, the other in the same Candy Apple patterned paper.  The red heart was off set a little bit to show a black edge, overlaped the heart on focal point panel using 3D thin foam tape. The double cut Hug sentiment was added to the top, glued and hugging the heart.

On the inside of the card, just added a thin black border with the Candy Apple patterned paper.

Holiday Card - TSOT Sketch #644

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday #644 and using ColorMyHeart Color Dare "Six Pack" Challenge which gives you a choice of at least three colors from the Color Board #594. You're also free to use B&W, Neutrals and Metallics.

Decided to do another Christmas card with these colors and the poinsettia die gave me two of the elements in the sketch.  Three die cuts were made, one in a Pine patterned paper and the other two using white cardstock.  Adhered the band and poinsettia to the small rectangular Shortbread cardstock. Petals from the white die cuts were adhered inside the green band and a second petal adhered with glue and thin foam tape for dimension.  Small gold sticker embellishments were added to the center of each flower.

My two background panels were cut from two different Scarlet Mix-in patterned papers, layered with Pine and adhered to the card base. The poinsettia panel was also layered with Pine and then adhered to the background.  Sentiment will be added at a later date.

On the inside border adhered the white poinsettia band without the leaves... in the picture you can barely see it; but it was a nice finish for the inside.

You Are Appreciated - Double Trouble #163 partnering with Inspiration Station

This is my second Design Team project for Double Trouble "Let's Get Krafty #163" celebrating Earth Day. Our partner for this challenge, Inspiration Station's "Prompt 60" was a photo of the World, our Earth. We thought using biodegradable, recycled materials would be a Earth Day Celebration and Thing 1's requirement was to use Kraft paper or any product made from Kraft-type paper. Twisted Sister wanted us to include blue shades because 71% of Earth is water. My inspiration was the globe and using shades of color blue.

Using the same Color Dare Board #594 "Six Pack" that I used yesterday; but this time I used all the colors in my focal point.  And again... the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #571.

Using these colors I created an appreciation Teacher's card using Kraft-type patterned paper for the background, cut 3/4 inch banners in a galaxy-like patterned paper and layered with Sapphire cardstock.

For the focal point... Chose a woodgrain patterned paper, layered with Sapphire cardstock and adhered to the Kraft background.  Images were stamped on white cardstock with Memento black ink, cut with Brother's Scan'n'cut and colored using Copic Sketch pens to closely match the CTMH colors. The sentiment was stamped directly in the right-hand bottom corner of woograin panel and images adhered with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

I Like You a Waffle Lot - Double Trouble #163 "Let's Get Krafty" with Inspiration Station

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble "Let's Get Krafty" celebrating Earth Day. Twisted Sister wanted us to include blue shades because 71% of Earth is water which is my inspiration for Inspiration Station's Prompt 60.

Using the same Color Dare Board #594 "Six Pack" that I used yesterday; but this time I chose the colors Periwinkle, Sapphire (shades of Blue) and Honey Butter, along with Toffee, a Kraft-type neutral paper.  And... the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #571 was perfect for my color selection.

Using these colors I created a masculine card using Kraft-type patterned paper for the background and cut 3/4 inch banners in shades of blue.  The waffles in Kraft patterned paper against the Honey Butter Background, sounds appropriate and yummy, doesn't it?  The sentiment and image were stamped directly on the Honey Butter panel.  Three more waffles were stamped on the Kraft patterned papers, fussy cut and adhered with 3D foam tape for dimension.

For the inside of the card I had another cute pun stamp "Thanks for pudding up with Me" which seemed fitting with the Waffle pun. A Periwinkle patterned paper was adhered along the bottom border, stamped the pudding pun with Nutmeg Ink, masked and added the waffle a yummy combination.

Find Your Bliss -

The new Brass & Bliss Craft Co website is celebrating with a challenge in March to be eligible to win a random draw $100 gift card to the Brass & Bliss shop... all  you need to do is create a card using any of the following:    Must use the Find Your Bliss die, color pallet and other product of Rubbernecker and/or Brass & Bliss.

One of my favorite background patterned papers is from CTMH Dream Maker paperpack and used a Rubbernecker stitched background die for texture on my first card. the "Find Your Bliss" die was cut from the background using the sentiment for an eclipse card technique. Layered the background with Sapphire cardstock, adhered the sentiment with 3D thin foam tape and then adhered to the card base.

The butterflies were cut using the same patterened paper, layered with another cut using cardstock similar to the color pallet for shadow. Each butterfly was glued together in center, randomly placed on the background and thin foam tape was added to lift the wings.

On the second card, same patterned paper, stamped a floral background using a light gray ink and layered in three of the colors in the color pallet. The "Find Your Bliss" die was cut from a smaller piece of same patterned paper and glued directly to the background. Butterflies were the balance of the ones cut for first card, and same technique used to adhere the butterflies.

Merry Christmas - Color Dare #594

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #594 "Six Pack" and decided to do a Christmas card using the Scarlet, Pine and Sapphire colors. Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmaking #43 Sketch was perfect for a variety of patterned papers and in my Christmas stash found a 6" paper packet of complementary patterns with colors primarily very close to scarlet and pine and decided to us sapphire for my bordering of each panel.

While looking through my circle dies came across the Stitched Circle Tree Die, chose one of the papers and because the way the die cut I was able to cut the square around it giving me one cut for the circle/square focal point and then backed with the sapphire cardstock for the sky and border. Since I had my curved sentiments stamp set out for the card made previous I chose the Merry Christmas one for the curve. There was one problem, it wasn't following the same curve as the Tree Die snow mound but the stamp was flexible enough to change the curve.

Used the scrap snowflake paper left over from the background cut and adhered as a border on the inside of card base.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #594 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.  And there are still a couple days left for the March BYSHC #43 Sketch challenge.

Caffeinated Coffee and BYSCH Sketch Jessica Lynn Clipart (Due by May 25th)

Saw this adorable gnome image in an email from Jessical Lynn Originals, offering a freebie. Knew exactly what this image would be used for even though it was a Spring image, to create a Christmas card for the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #27 "Green".  In my stash there was a paperpack "CTMH Gnomes for Christmas" with a variety of complementary patterned papers which was perfect for the BYSHC Sketch Challenge #43.

The patterned papers were cut using three of the patterned papers, layered with green cardstock and each panel adhered to card base as in sketch.  The gnome was sized, printed, colored with Copic sketch pens closest to colors in the patterned paper, fussy-cut and then adhered with 3D thin foam tape for rounding and dimension.

Cut two border sentiments "Merry Christmas", one in green and the other in white. Adhered the green across the cup and card and then added the white leaving the top portion of the green as a shadow.

On the inside, along the border, I added the plaid patterned paper layered with  green cardstock.

I'm Stuck on You - Color Dare #592 TicTacToe

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare # 592 "TicTacToe" using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #568.  My choice was Row 1 Sage, Papaya and Sundance because these are the colors of Spring in Arizona and the sketch was perfect for my cactus and sun.

Stuck pretty much with the sketch except moving the sentiment down a smidgen. Using a mini slimline many dies and patterned papers were cut instead of coloring. CAS and exactly what I wanted.

The inside of card base was lined with the same patterned papers along the right border to finish off my card.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #592 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Birthday Wishes - Double Trouble #162 "Spring Florals" partnering with Beautiful Blossoms

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble "Spring Florals", partnering with Beautiful Blossoms Mood Board #15 "Anything Goes Floral", using a favorite floral image. Beautiful Blossoms Mood Board is an inspiration tool, but not a requirement however, must have flower(s)/floral(s). I also chose to used Twisted Sister's optional twist "include an Easter element and/or bonnets or baskets" with your floral, but this is not a requirement of our partner.

I did a couple experiments masking the bunny in between the two florals and this was my final... others will go in my stash.

My first inspiration was to use the bolder colors in the Mood Board; however with the itty-bitty bunny I felt a variety of Copic pastel colors would be perfect for the florals. There was a lot of detail in the floral stamping itself so I used a watercolor affect instead of blending as I wanted that detail to show. The sentiment curve balanced and filled in the white space and the glacier border was perfect for framing.

On the insideright corner of card base another stamp and masking was done using the smaller floral and bunny colored lightly with pastel Copic markers.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble and Beautiful Blossoms to check out the Design Teams inspiration. Challenge yourself to add the optional twists and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.
