Thinking of You - Color Dare #652

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #652 and the soft colors were perfect for a pretty Spring floral using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #629.

Decided to keep much to the sketch and enhanced it with stitched frames. Selected a subtle striped patterned paper layered with a light brown border to match the softness of the florals. Stamped a sentiment and the card was completed.

Please hop on over to Color Dare's Color Board #652 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... please join us for this fun color challenge... hope to see you there.

If you like to combine additional Challenges... consider hopping over to either Double Trouble "3-2-1 Recipe" and/or our sister challenge Try a Sketch on Tuesday and see how easy it might be to combine one or both challenges with Color Dare.

TSOT 670 and DTC 191 - Have a Chillin Birthday

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #670) and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Double Trouble's 7th Anniversary "Raffle Celebration" This card was sent out to my grand-daughter Izzy.

The background consisted of two patterned papers (checkered and dots) from Sweet Safari paperpack... note there is a Kraft-like color in the checkered pattern. Both patterned papers were adhered to Kraft paper and then adhered to white card base.

The stacked cone of ice cream scoops was in my stash. Pulled out my Copic Sketch brush pens, colored to match colors in the background paper, fussy-cut and then adhered to the background with 3D thin foam tape for a little dimension.

The two panels on the left-hand side were cut with a stitched die using the checkered design paper and adhered to the polka-dot background paper. Sentiment stamped on white cardstock, bordered with Kraft and adhered direct to background paper.

Sentiment was stamped on white cardstock, bordered with Kraft and adhered direct to background.  I was going to try to use a Volkswagon bus for my sentiment; but wasn't happy with it... so colored the Volkswagon bus, fussy cut and added to the inside corner of the the card base.

Please hop on over and join us at Try a Sketch on Tuesday #670. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

And if you want double the fun, head on over to our sister challenge at Double Trouble's 7th Anniversary Raffle Celebration and play along with our optional twist to earn chances to their random draw.

DTC #191 "Celebratory 7th Anniversary Raffle "Enjoy Your Special Day"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble's 7th Anniversary "Raffle Celebration". My pick was the Pink Raffle Ticket for a "Birthday"... I included Twisted Sister's optional twist to use some Kraft Paper or Like, and Double Dare's dare to use our sister challenge Try a Sketch on Tuesday #670)which starts on May 13th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

The background consisted of two patterned papers, both using Kraft color in the patterns and adhered to a Kraft border.  Flowers were cut using white cardstock, colored using Color Dare's graphic (blue/green + one color of choice, purple).  Kept close to the TSOT Sketch using some pretty die florals and the Color Dare Challenge #651 was perfect for my special birthday card.  Flowers were cut using white cardstock, colored using Color Dare's #651 graphic(blue/green + color of choice purple) and some adhered with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.

The two panels on the left-hand side were cut with a stitched die using same design paper, colored and adhered to match the stripes on the background paper. Sentiment stamped on patterned paper, bordered with Kraft and adhered with 3D thin tape again matching the stripes on background paper.

Had extra cuts of flowers, colored and placed on the r-h inside corner of card base.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 7th Anniversary Raffle Celebration and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Color Dare #650 and Double Trouble 3-2-1 Recipe "For Someone Special"

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #650 You MUST use the two colors in the graphic. There are some Free colors you can add to your project but you MUST use Blue and Purple. For my free color I chose to use a silver embossing for my stamped mage.

I chose to combine the Double Trouble's 3-2-1 Recipe "For Someone Special" and Color Dare graphic. The Background ingredient is a pretty gray diamond pattern and stamped my butterfly and  floral image VersaMark and then heat embossed with silver embossing powder. The Color Dare graphic has two colors that must be used, purple and blue, colored using Distress Inks for a close match, and this covered the 2-Colors of Your Choice ingredient. Smudged some color on my patterned paper while coloring so chose a decorative border die to cut the bottom r-h corner, added a purple corner including the background border.  Added a die cut sentiment and some jems to meet the 3-Layers ingredient.

After photo was taken and posted the colors this was not a good match of the purple and blues... so a second card was done with a better match, but my smudge was in a different spot that I covered with a silver pen.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #650, check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

DTC #190 - 3-2-1 Recipe "For Someone Special"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #189 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "For Someone Special" (3-Layers, 2-Colors, 1-Background using Patterned Paper) and Twisted Sister's optional twist to include flowers. Our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday #669, which starts on Apr 20th is the perfect sketch to include with our 3-2-1 recipe. However, my card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

Since the recipe called for 1-background ingredient using patterned paper my first choice was a pink patterned paper which I randomly stamped on some pansy colored florals giving me the 2-Color ingredient. Another lighter piece of the same patterned paper was cut for the sentiment. It wasn't hard to meet the 3-layer ingredient by bordering the patterned background and sentiment using pansy cardstock. Adhered bordered background to the white card base.

Instead of the flower on the corner of the sentiment one of the dancing butterflies was cut two times using pansy cardstock. Tne first adhered to the front of the sentiment panel and the second placed loosely to the back of the panel to create a shadow of the other wing. Then the sentiment and second wing were adhered to the background. Had another dancing butterfly that was placed on the inside corner.

Color Dare #648 - For My Peeps, Happy Easter

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #648 combined with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #625.

Yellow was a must use, and being around Easter, it was the perfect color to make a chick peep.  And it was only appropriate for plus one color to use a pink bunny peep. Went through my scraps of paper for patterned papers in yellow and pink and cut frames using Waffle Flower's pretty Lacy Layers.  The sentiment was typed, printed and layered and adhered to the bottom of the frame.  CAS and a fast card.

TSOT Sketch #668 - Bundle of Joy, Welcome Baby

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #668) and combining it with our Sister Challenge,  Double Trouble #189 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Hippity, Hoppity"

My son asked me if I could do a newborn card using a dinasaur and I thought this sketch would be perfect.  I did the same fun fold as I did for Double Trouble Challenge #189 so I already had my pattern for this fun fold. The same patterned paper was used on the different fold cuts.

Stamped, colored, and adhered the adorable dinasaur for my main focal point with 3D thin foam tape. A couple sentiments were added bordered with a little baby. On the inside just added another dinasaur that I experimented with colors that I wasn't happy with, so added another color on the tummy to use as a daddy dinasaur... it worked.

Please hop on over and check out the TSOT Design Team members projects.

DTC Challenge #189 - 3-2-1 Recipe "Hippity, Hoppity"

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #189 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Hippity, Hoppity" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #668) which starts on Apr 15th... so this card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

Then hop on over and check out the TSOT Sketch Challenge, check out the Design Teams inspiration, and consider using their sketch with our 3-2-1 recipe.

The sketch reminded me of a fun fold card I've previously seen... so using a plain white sheet of paper and experimented with a couple cuts until I got the fold similar to the sketch. The plaid background cuts were a pretty close guess in regard to measurements; but I was happy with it.  Stamped, colored, and adhered the adorable chicks for my main focal point and added sentiments to the outside and inside of fold.

Color Dare #646 - Hello

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #646. This was not an easy color graph for me because I don't have these colors so I did the best I could with matching colors as close as possible.

My plan was to keep my project clean and simple using stencils. In my stash there was a metal embossing/stencil which I paid 50 cents at a yard sale back years ago and never used.  I was curious about the embossing but decided to use as a stencil only... liked the simple design and ease of pulling in these colors.  A lot of time attempting to match these colors, but came close with some retired CTMH inks. brushed away on each of the images on stencil.

Used a scalloped die to frame the pretty images that I had stenciled with 3D thin foam tape to  another scalloped frame using Ballerina (pink) cardstoch as it was the closest match of these three colors.  Finished off with a sentiment using Pewter (gray) ink.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #646  and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

DTC Challenge #188 (March 31-April 13th) - TSOT #667

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #188 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "April Showers" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch Challenge #667 which starts on Feb 1st so this card will not be entered in the TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

Another fun recipe, all you need to do is choose 3 colors of the rainbow, 2 die cuts (enhanced and used 9 different die cuts), and 1 was to dreate a Scene.

The TSOT sketch was perfect for creating a scene using the Double Dare's Dare. I even took my cricut out of hiding, dusted it off, and cut the two golf balls... one in the center of the sunrays and one that missed the hole and landed in a puddle of water (a cricut cut) which was Twisted Sister's optional twist.

The sunray, rainbow, cloud, puddle, grass and tee were all die cut using white and rainbow colors. Had to go through a lot of my paper stash and found this cute little cloud and raindrop patterned paper and thought how cute this would be, and from there the scene was created.

There were many cuts to create another rainbow, an extra cut of a larger golfball, tee and a strip of grass... and these were glued on the inside bottom corner.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "April Showers" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.
