TSOT Sketch 682 with Double Trouble #203 3-2-1 Recipe "Round and Round"

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday #682 and getting my inspiration from our Sister Challenge, Double Trouble # 3-2-1 Recipe "Round and Round"

The similarity of the sketch took me to Mary Deatherage tutorial for a Side Fold Card and all I needed were the card base measurement and score lines to create the side fold. Off to my stash to find elements that meet the ingredients in Double Trouble's 3-2-1 recipe "Round and Round" (3-circles, 2-images, 1 Ribbon).

Started with my background using a plaid paper from a CTMH paperpack that had not yet been used and then chose a complementary pattern for the smaller paneland the two outer circles. The leaf patterned paper was die cut with other circle to be used for my 2 images. Using same paper a die cut leaf which was adhered with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.  A brown ribbon adhered to the larger panel completed the ingredients, and a sentiment was added using alphabet dies to complete the sketch.

Please hop on over to Try a Sketch On Tuesday, check out the Design Team's inspiration for this sketch and share your creativity... hope to see you there.

You may want to hop on over to our sister challenge, Double Trouble to see if you have already met their 3-2-1 Recipe ingredients. If you have, you can enter the challenge and be eligible for random drawing chances... or maybe you just have to add an ingredient to meet the requirement. Hope to see you there.

Challenge #203 3-2-1 Recipe "Round and Round" with TSOT Sketch 682

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #203 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Round and Round" and combining it with our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday #682 which starts on October 28th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for inspiration and to show how easy it is to participant in both challenges. Twisted Sister wanted us to include at least one bird and I chose to use a flamingo from patterned papers.

The sketch is similar to a Side Fold Card and have previously made this fold using Mary Deatherage tutorial. After making the fold you just have to decide what you want to use from your stash to use the "Round and Round" 3-2-1 recipe (3-circles, 2-images, 1 Ribbon).

I started with my background using patterned paper with flamingos for Twisted Sister's optional twist to use at least one bird. Vellum with circles was adhered to top of the two patterned papers to soften the background.

Two sets of the triple circle die were cut... one for a pink frame and the other cut matching and lining up with one of the flamingos from the patterned paper. The negative cut was then attached to the pink frame and adhered to the background with 3D thin foam tape for dimension and no vellum which gave the tri-circle a spotlight affect.

I don't use ribbon very often and have a small supply in my stash... I got lucky and found this pink ribbon with transparent ruffles and attached to the larger panel.  The sentiment was made with die cut letters and thought Aloha would be appropriate for this card.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "Round and Round" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, optional twists and dare and let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Color Dare #674 (due 10/17)

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #674 and using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #651.

The colors on the graphic remind me of Easter... the other day when cleaning out my digital folders came across this adorable bunny digital and knew it was perfect for these colors and also for the sketch focal point.

Stamped two of these images... fussy-cut one full image and the other only the cupcake frosting, the head and bow for layering and dimension. Using copic sketch brush pens the pieces were colored and layered with 3D thin foam tape and glued on edges for rounding.

Went through a lot of my patterned papers and nothing matched up with these colors, close but always seemed to have some yellow... and with Color Dare graphic it doesn't allow any additional colors... that's a no, no.

So off to my stencil stash... came across a  metal stencil which was purchased for 50 cents at a garage sale and had only been used a couple times.  Again perfect for a playful background for my bunny. Cut a panel of pink cardstock, brushed alternating the three colors, bordered with the purple cardstock and adhered to card base.

Cut the smaller panel also using pink cardstock, adhered my bunny image, bordered with purple cardstock and adhered direct to my playful background.  I used a more generic pun sentiment so that it can be used for any occasion. Again using the pink cardstock, bordered with purple, stamped sentiment using Memento London Fog in keeping with the pastel look.

Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #674 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Challenge #202 3-2-1 Recipe "Shades of Fall" - Gobble Til You Wobble

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #202 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Shades of Fall" and combining it with our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #681) which starts on Oct 14th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for inspiration and to show how easy it is to participant in both challenges.

The sketch inspired me to copycat the leaves and blended background with at least three shades of Fall colors and for texture added the 1-ingredient a dry-embossed element "crackle" folder to my blended background.

Also decided to use a turkey image as my focal point in place of the large hexagon. Stamped turkey direct on blended background, masked and stamped a pumpkin on each side of the turkey to satisfy 2-images and Twisted Sister's optional twist.

Stamped three more images of the turkey and adhered full turkey over the stamped image and colored. Colored and fussy-cut the body of the second image, slit open the wings and adhered body with glue and 3D thin foam tape on tip of wings. Colored and fussy-cut the head of the third image and adhered to body with glue and used 3D foam tape for head. Pumpkins to each side of turkey were colored.

Three more pumpkins stamped/masked direct on blended background and then stamped, colored, fussy-cut two more images... one adhered direct to background and one adhered with 3D thin foam tape.  To keep with the sketch's larger hexagon I hand-drew a look-a-like pumpkin, colored, fussy-cut and adhered with 3D thin foam tape.

When I decided on a fun pun sentiment "Gobble til you wobble" my card needed a pie... wanted a pumpkin pie but turkey said apple was fine.  Stamped pie, colored, fussy-cut and placed under the wings of the turkey with some 3D foam in the middle and glued on sides for rounding the pie.  For the open space to left of turkey I added the fun pun and randomly stamped a few itty-bitty flower stamps around the pumpkin patch.

It sounded like a lot of work; but I really enjoy working with dimension, layering and rounding the images.  Hope you'all enjoy my festive Fall card.

You're the Best - Color Dare #672

This is my Design Team project for Color Dare #672 wherein you have to use both colors and no additional colors; however you can use free, black and white, neutrals an gold metallic. Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #649 was combined with the color graphic.

Looked through my stash for patterned papers in sapphire, brown and vanilla shades and cut in 1/2" strips. Made a Vanilla strip 3/4" and adhered diagonally on a 4" x 5 1/4" panel, randomly placed 1/2" strips from the vanilla strip around the perimeter. Cut off the overlap of 1/2" strips, bordered the panel using Sapphire cardstock and adhered to a vanilla cardbase.

For the focal point I used a stitched rectangle and cut florals in a vase, two in sapphire and two in vanilla, added a small cut of each color and placed opposite color behind dots of each vase between layers.  The floral vases were adhered to stitched rectangle using glue and some 3D thin foam tape.
