DTC Challenge #188 (March 31-April 13th) - TSOT #667

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #188 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "April Showers" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch Challenge #667 which starts on Feb 1st so this card will not be entered in the TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

Another fun recipe, all you need to do is choose 3 colors of the rainbow, 2 die cuts (enhanced and used 9 different die cuts), and 1 was to dreate a Scene.

The TSOT sketch was perfect for creating a scene using the Double Dare's Dare. I even took my cricut out of hiding, dusted it off, and cut the two golf balls... one in the center of the sunrays and one that missed the hole and landed in a puddle of water (a cricut cut) which was Twisted Sister's optional twist.

The sunray, rainbow, cloud, puddle, grass and tee were all die cut using white and rainbow colors. Had to go through a lot of my paper stash and found this cute little cloud and raindrop patterned paper and thought how cute this would be, and from there the scene was created.

There were many cuts to create another rainbow, an extra cut of a larger golfball, tee and a strip of grass... and these were glued on the inside bottom corner.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "April Showers" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Happy Birthday - Color Dare #644

I needed to create a birthday card for my son this weekend, and since I missed the deadline for my Design Team project for Color Dare #644 decided to use the Color Graphic for a masculine birthday card.  He likes CAS cards so this will be a fast card with bold colors.

He lives in Arizona and he enjoys trips to national parks up North. This die was perfect for using CTMH colors closest match to the CD Graphic... plus didn't need coloring and/or blending by using cardstock.

The Desert Sunset die was cut using Sapphire cardstock. Taped together the other three colors in a square, cut with the same die, used the center cut to insert in the sapphire silhouette background. While writing this script I wished I had rounded the three colors for a better visual of a sunset but it's was already given to my son. To finish the card cut a Happy Birthday sentiment using Pumpkin cardstock and adhered to top and bottom of sapphire background.

TSOT #666 Sketch Challenge "Just Chickin In"

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch On Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch Challenge #666, and combining it with our sister challenge Double Trouble #187The combination of these two challenges are a lot of fun... my fun was using the sweet Chicks for the sketch and DTC 3-2-1 Recipe "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing". The ingredients for my project were 3-Dies, 2-Layers, 1-Design Paper, plus enhancements.

Next to choosing the chicks in my stash that had never been used I chose one of my favorite CTMH plaid patterned papers for my background, bordered with Sapphire cardstock and adhered to a white cardbase.

The chick dies were very small pieces and the die was one piece for most of the elements. So many cuts were made using different cardstock colors... but if I had given it a little more thought before all these cuts I would have used only white cardstock, colored each piece and assembly of chicks would have been less time.  Now I know why these were in my stash unused... lol

Probably spent as much time in arranging and rearranging the positions of each chick to imitate the appearance of the sketch. These were adhered using glue and 3D thin foam tape for dimension. Not complaining because they came out so cute.

A Happy Easter sentiment was going to be used, but thought the fun pun was perfect for an any occasion card.

Hop on over and check out the TSOT Sketch Challenge, check out the Design Teams inspiration, let's see what you create... hope to see you there.

Hello - Color Dare #642

As I was going through my stash of different technique backgrounds the other day I pulled this green background for an upcoming Color Dare Challenge #642 "Shades of Green" which was a great match to the graphic and didn't even need to pull out my green inks. Bordered my background with Evergreen cardstock and adhered to card base.

Greens remind me of leaves and plants... so off to my die stash.  Already cut was a black silhouette of plants... perfect but cut one more for layering and adhered to green background. Chose another die "Hello" for sentiment using a black for the silhouette and two layers of the Evergreen cardstock.

Probably the fastest I have made a card due to stuff in my stash.

Please hop on over and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and and join us at Color Dare's Challenge #642... hope to see you there and anxious to see what you create.

DTC Challenge #186 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" - Beautiful Friend

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #186 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch Challenge #665 which starts on March 4th so this card will not be entered in the TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

Back in the Spring of last year, my daughter, a friend and I went up to her cabin for the weekend and did a batch of gel press designs using inks, stencils and foil. They have been in my stash for a long time and thought this might be a good time to check them out for our 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" to satisfy the two stencil ingredients... and I got lucky.

The same stencil was used for both designs using different colors and foils. The green and gold gel press design was used to satisfy the 2 of the 3 color ingredient and the second gel press using orange and green to satisfy the other color of my choice.

Butterfly first cut using the orange/green design, along with another cut using green glitter and some of the glitter pieces were pieced in the first cut. Additionally two cuts of the sentiment using the orange/green design and layered. The butterfly was partially adhered to the background and used some thin foam tape for dimension on the upper wings.

Twisted Sister had an optional twist to include a shamrock.  Using green glitter cut a 4-leaf clover and removed one heart leaf to corner and balance the glitter under the sentiment.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "Pinch Proof" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.
