National Scrapbooking Month - H2H May Week #3

My Scrapbook layout for Heart2Heart's theme and Celebrartion for "National Scrapbooking Month".  There are so many ways to create scrapbooks ... traditional albums, pocket pages and digital albums to name a few. Scrapbooking is a way of preserving and sharing not only our memories but our families' recipes and traditions as well. Here at Heart2Heart, we invite you to share your way of scrapbooking and celebrate National Scrapbooking Month.

Remember you have all month to play along with all of the Heart2Heart May challenges.  Don't forget each theme for May will be updated in the Blog Sidebar (top on the right-hand side) for easy access to the different theme challenges.

Thought a whimsical page of some of our Spring Flowers in Arizona would be fun.  The flower photos were cut using one of my circle dies in a variety of sizes ... some photos cut in two or three sections so when placed on the page different dimensions could be used for each panel.  Going to Cricut Design Space purchased one of the cactus images, modified to fit my background,  used an assortment of design papers, zip strips and complements  from "Prickly Pear" and starting arranging everything on the page.

Had  the background, sides, letters and cactus pretty much assembled.  Added 3D foam tape to the middle of the cactus for dimension and roundness and placed and adhered the one three-piece flower cut on the top right-hand side.  Running out of time before going to Our Little Group for a crop, gathered the Prickly Pear complements, zip strips and balance of photos to complete at the Crop.

Knew once at the Crop I could ask my daughter for suggestions on the ideas of my layout since she has had so much experience in doing layouts ... like about 50 big albums or more.  Usually when asking for assistance she graciously offers ideas ... even though knowing I'll do what I want anyway.  However this time a lot of her suggestions were put in action, and even the other members of our group gave their suggestions too.

One of the first changes my daughter suggested was to put a shadow on the letters so they stood out more.  So with my most precious Cricut Tool (the wider spatula) carefully removed the letters and added the shadow.  The rest were suggestions on juggling items around and adding a little more whimsical with the complements, zip strips and other die-cuts.

My finished layout are the many shared ideas from Our Little Crop Group ... of course I had all final decisions.  I wasn't sure whether beautiful flowers could be mixed with whimsical; however, the flowers pop right out of the page, and then it bring you into the whimsical.  I am so pleased with the end result and hope you enjoy all the activity in this layout.

Wow - what a busy layout but gorgeous pictures! I never think of cacti blooming - just being prickly. These flowers definitely needed lots of colour and your layout highlights that. Nice :)
