Together - Color Dare #239

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #239: This week’s colors are Slate, Canary, Eggplant and White Daisy (All and Only). We encourage you to use CTMH products; however you may use any products to participate using closest to colors ... join in the fun.

You don't need a blog to submit your entry...if you are a member of Pinterest you can set up a Folder and link your entry to our Challenge. You have until Thursday, April 20th to enter your project. Please hop on by to see the DT member inspirations and other entrants.

This color challenge is definitely a challenge for me...not comfortable with the slate color...certainly not very springy.  Finally decided on a flower that was a purple and yellow...either an iris or pansy  Off to Cricut Design Space...the Flower Market . . . Perfect iris cut.

First went to my Inventory spreadsheet to see what paper packs had Eggplant...other than Paper Fundamentals there was only one paper pack with that color and I chose that to give some texture to the flower and the canary yellow was not difficult because it's in several paper packs.

Cut design papers for the flower and the slate for the stem.  Didn't particularly care for the grey stem ... so cut another stem with the same yellow design paper, layered the pieces using the slate piece as a shadow for the stem.  Cut another slate piece for the flower and layered also as a shadow.  Layering the flower and stem with the slate for a shadow met the challenge of using slate (see photo below).  Tried to include a slate frame but that just didn't give me the result I wanted either so used cardstock in the two primary colors.

On the inside added a strip along the border of canary design paper.

Clever way to use that Slate colour that you were having a hard time incorporating into the mix... and you STILL managed to use tons of layers as per your normal style! Love it!

I'm not sure what the problem was Suzanne but I was able to fix it for you :) love your card, especially the hearts...wondering which milestone birthday you were going for as this beauty could fall under so many! :)

Thank you Cindy. A lot of my cards are left open for any occasion and thought this made a nice spring birthday card, but milestone did not catch in the challenge...but let's say 40's or 50's.

A very clever idea to leave the card 'open'. It could then be used for many various occasions. Lovely colour combination. The striped background is a perfect Matt for the beautiful flower.
