A Gift For You - Color Dare #236

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #236: This week’s colors are Pacifica, Emerald, Black and White Daisy (All and Only).  We encourage you to use CTMH products; however you may use any products to participate using closest to colors ... join in the fun.

You don't need a blog to submit your entry...if you are a member of Pinterest you can set up a Folder and link your entry to our Challenge. You have until Thursday, March 31st to enter your project.  Please hop on by to see the DT member inspirations and other entrants.

Needed to make a 47th birthday card for my son, David...Yikes I remember when I was that age and thought it was young and my kids thought I was old...wonder what they're feeling. These colors appealed to me for a male card. David wants an old typewriter for his home which will be a gift from us, so...pulled out the typewriter stamp.

The typewriter was stamped with VersaMark, heat embossed with black embossing powder to look metallic, fussy-cut and sentiment stamped on the paper in typewriter.  The typewriter was adhered with 3D foam tape at different thickness for dimensional look.

Selected a die cut birthday balloon set and chose the one with a "D" for David, cut from pattern polka-dot papers, pieced with alternating colors, wrapped green and blue nail tapes around the balloon, backed with 3D foam tape with different thicknesses and hooked to the typewriter carriage returns.

The inside of the card was stamped with typewriter Keys spelling out Happy Birthday.

On the left-hand side I made a pocket for money or gift card.

SMITH CORONA FIND  First went on the internet just to get an idea of the cost of an antique typewriter and they were running from $200-$350...however, didn't want to purchase anything unseen.  Many times my daughter goes to a place called Brass Armardillo Mall to pick up finds which has more than 3500 antique dealers all in one large building.  So off to the Mall we went...we spent four hours there. Within the first half hour we "found our find" ...but continued on our adventure for the next three and a half hours...WOW nothing like going down memory lane.  Saw maybe 12 other typewriters but not as good a shape and more money...Our find was $70 and now to go out and see what's needed to clean it up a little. I was happy, and he'll be happy because I can still put a little money in the pocket of the card and he has a typewriter.

What a fun card to match a great gift. I remember typing on a typewriter like that in my grandpa's office.

Love the story behind this - perfect colours for a male card. I also remember typing on this kind of typewriter at home! I like the balloons attached to the typewriter on the front.

We had these big typewriters in my high school - Underwood, not Smith Corona. Cute card - my cousin worked for years in the Smith Corona factory so maybe she made this one!

Love the cards and it's perfect for a guy. BUT the way you were able to match the card to the gift is amazing and perfect! Great job.

Fun card, Sue, and great back story to its creation. I love how you used individual typewriter key stamps inside the card too. Fabulous card!
